I recently (12/28/2009) visited the Pueblo Zoo after a 15+ year absence and I must say that I was quite impressed. The winter exhibits made a strong attempt to highlight animals found in Colorado-which makes sense given the colder temperatures. The herpetarium, now known as The World of Color, showcases a considerable number of reptiles and amphibians. Perhaps the most impressive exhibits are those of the river otters and African penguins. According to the staff, the zoo is an active breeding center used to promote a Species Survival Plan for this penguin. Further, I found the staffs knowledge in general to be thorough, accurate, and educational. Unfortunately, Monkey Mountain is no longer accessible due to this age of litigation in which we live. Still, what a great little zoo! Go and treat yourself to this very affordable and educational experience!

Its clean, the animals look as happy as caged animals can be, priced awesome, saw 2 VERY LARGE wild Gardner snakes but the cafe was not available at 230 on a Tuesday, the peacocks were being chased and tortured but no zoo keepers could be found. Myself Id love to see giraffes and elephants but due to the small available areas thats probably not an option. If you like a small zoo that is flat and quiet with not a lot of activity then this is a perfect Opportunity for you! I bought a family pass for 5 people and its less than 100 per year!

This is the best small town zoo I have been too in a long time. The grounds were beautifully kept with lots of big old trees providing great shade. The exhibits were great; a huge variety of animals to see. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We even had a grounds keeper telling us all about the ostrich, who was quite the show-off (the ostrich, not the grounds keeper...). Fantastic experience, one of Pueblos best activities. I would highly recommend it!

Pretty disappointed by this zoo. Many of the animals looked very sick, most of the birds are plucking out their own feathers, the exsibits are either covered by vegetation or other fencing which makes seeing some animals almost impossible. The only nice thing are the pathways that are nice and shady. We overheard other families expressing their disappointment over the same findings. Just a very sad sight to see.

Hidden gem in Pueblo! This zoo seems like it belongs in a much bigger city with the amount of animals and the quality of their exhibits. They have all of the major animals you could hope to see, as well as my favorite exhibit: a rainforest that you can walk through surrounded by birds, snakes, lizards, and tons of other animals. The penguins and otters are very interactive, and small children will love it.

Came to this Zoo as a way to kill sometime in Pueblo. We were very disappointed. Most animals seemed bored and it did not seem like there much enrichment in their lives. The enclosures were small, dirty and most were under some form of maintenance. At one point I am sure this was a great zoo but it now needs a lot of work, which they seem to be attempting, but still sad for the animals.

Layout of the path was nice. However this is a sorry excuse of a zoo and whoever is in charge of it. Animals do not have adequate exhibits like the pigs for example, they had small mud holes with about a gallon total of water. Water was a rarity in many cages and food was no where to be found. Cages are tiny and over crowded. Animals looked miserable and stressed beyond measure.

Visited the zoo today, it was horrible. All the animals looked sick not moving. Went to the penguins area it stunk so bad you could not stand it plus the penguins looked so sick and not moving. The red pandas looked like they were dead and stuffed up on the tree. It was a horrible time and waste of hard earned money. I will never go back there again. So mad wasted day.

The Pueblo Zoo has all the reject animals with missing limbs or hardly alive they spent a bunch of money on the dogs that are only sleeping throughout the day they should have put that money onto an animal that will actually have a real attraction not some animals that are pretty much in your backyard... Prices are high too!

Was absolutely great to see how well the animals were taken care of. Really helps open your Disney princess inside, because I couldnt help but talk to all the animals. Its a great place to spend the day, and theres always something interesting going on. Good prices on almost everything. Really nothing Id complain about.

This zoo is the perfect size to take children to for the afternoon! The animals always seem happy and there are times where you can watch them be fed. There is a small play structure for if you need to rest while kids still have fun and many indoor exibits. Overall this is an amazing zoo and I plan on going back soon!

This is way more than a zoo. Theres a huge park around it. You could spend all day at the zoo and have to come back the next day to enjoy the area around it, including a mini amusement park! Near the amusement park there is a small shack that sells snacks and drinks and their prices are extremely affordable.

People that say is fun, is people who live in this sad town, ignore them. Just like the rest of Pueblo, it sucks, sad zoo, small, barely shades, flat, overpriced, screw you pueblo, go to denver or cheyenne, way better and only $ like $5 more per tickets but way BETTER than the whole town of Pueblo.

A nice zoo of a decent price and a decent size. Not as eloquent as Cheyenne Mountain or the Denver Zoo, but for Pueblo its a very nice spot to spend a day with the family! Also, if you have any interest in the petting/feeding events, be sure to come in the morning, as that only lasts from 10-12

Beautiful zoo, as far as the landscape is concerned. We dont go to see the animals as the animals are very basic and tired of people. However, there is plenty of space for picnics and walking. There are many trees for shade and a new pollination section encouraging bees to do what they do!

First time going. Me and my family loved it. Small and super friendly. Love all the shade. Loved going in and seeing animals you usually dont see in the bigger zoos. The food stand was good and prices were great. Made it very educational for my kids as well. We will be going again for sure

Not a good selection of animals, they do not have elephants, giraffes or many other common zoo animals. The ones they do have you can hardly see because they do not maintain the weeds like they should. If youre looking for a fun zoo experience for your children I would not take them here.

Very few animals actually at this zoo... Maybe its because it is winter I dont know .... But they dont warn you that you will see very few animals .... $34 to see pretty much farm animals and peacocks... Probably should warn people when they arrive that you dont have all your animals ...

Very nicer place to visit. Not overly crowded. Like the other zoos Ive been to. You get to take your time. Most places are shady with all the trees. All the paths are cemented so you can take a stroller or even a wheelchair. Reasonable on the admission also. Good food too.
