Before I explain my low rating I will say that this is such a lovely place to visit. It is very peaceful and an excellent place to take the little ones to feed the animals up close. Dont forget to stop at the petting barn before you leave. Now for my reason behind the stars, the day that I was there which was June 3rd, a man that was paying at the window was having either a seizure or heart attack, I believe it looked more like a seizure but the staff was saying heart attack. The fact that this man was suffering in front of his wife and kids while the staff ran around looking for help not knowing what to do medically bothered me. This place should have medically trained staff personnel on site in the event that something like this happens. Not one staff member on site did anything but stand and watch while other staff ran looking for someone who knew cpr. I would hope after that day that this was a lesson that their needs to be more training in situations such as that. Other than that this place is great. It will take you about an hour and a half to two hours depending on what kind of activity you get that day with the animals. The animals will eat from the bags you have the option to buy so it is not a waste of money. I bought three bags and it was eaten by the donkey, zebras, ostrich, and two other kinds of animals. It is also a hit and miss in terms of a high volume of people or hardly any. The Saturday I went there was hardly anyone so I took my sweet time and didnt have to worry about other drivers scaring off the animals.

Had a great time. Wife, 1yr old, and myself loved it! Saw kids of all ages having a blast. Mostly hoofed animals were free roaming and very interactive. Theyd come right up to the car for the food (1 free bag provided, $1.50 for extra bag, my wife and I used 1 1/2 bags). Emus and Ostriches were free roaming as well. The Rhinos, Giraffes and camels were caged. Monkeys and birds were also in cages near the restaurant, koi pond, and petting zoo (mostly little goats). There was a secondary petting zoo that was locked, but had a decent view of the animals, which were baby goats and new mommas. I found the restaurant to be reasonable. 15$ for a large pizza and it was good, made there, not frozen, topped generously, and it was definitely a large pizza. Roads were in great condition, restaurant and gift shop seemed to be new. Everyone was very friendly. The monkey(s) were stretched out on the concrete, but he was just cooling off, not depressed as a previous reviewer suggested. That smooth concrete is nice and cool and it was a hot day. Cages were spotless. About $18 bucks a person to get in, under 2 was free. Some might say thats a little steep but its a good operation, they arent cutting any corners. Only complaint I can come up with is the animal guide was $3. I think that could be included with entry, but it was professionally done. Id have to say I was very happy with our visit. Will return.

For the life of me I cannot understand why people are giving this place good reviews, This was the most disappointing vacation activity we have ever had, The price was just WAY too much for what is truly is, it was $44.25 for two adults, and in all honesty we could have had a WAY better experience just going to the zoo, Which is what we should have done, I was really excited to see this place, but alas, The only animals that would come close to your car was the small goat like animals (they didnt have any description on the animals on the safari) The other animals seemed to be hidden or just out of view.. There were two rhinos behind three layers of fencing that were sleeping and the giraffes were enclosed in a pin standing together in the enclosure that only had ONE shaded area for them... Dont even get me started on the "Goat only" "Petting Zoo" I have enclosed two pictures of this poor animal we thought was dead, but was somehow still breathing... 98% of the goats were just laying there bellies overstuffed with these pellets they hand out to everyone.. This place totally needs to be closed down and investigated. Would not recommend this place to anyone.. Just go to the zoo... Honestly! Would really like my money back from this place, but maybe they could use it to get the giraffes at least a shade tree in the enclosure.

The zoo is a far better place to go and youll save money at the zoo. This is not like other wildlife parks Ive been to. It was overcrowded. I spent hours in traffic; nearly an hour just to get in front gate! I paid about $25 per person. It was an uninspiring trip. Most of the interesting animals were hunkered down behind cages and fences so it was like a drive-by zoo with lots of inconsiderate traffic and road raging parents with their bored children. The only animals that came close to the car was a herd of goats and some pygmy donkeys. The rest of the animals...the ostriches, emu, zebras, and buffalo stayed at a distance in the shade and did not venture out of the shade. There were piles of food pellets by the roadside that were, apparently, unappetizing to the animals as the majority preferred to eat grass in the shade of the trees to avoid the hot Texas sun. Imagine a road trip, with lots of bumper to bumper traffic, a couple of toddler in the backseat, and only slightly amusing animals hiding in the shade about 30 ft. away from the road while the hot Texas suns beams through the windshield. It was neither pleasant, nor amusing. Hardly worth the high price they charge. Yes there is a petting zoo with nothing but goats who like to eat paper rather than food pellets (bring a newspaper).

Overpriced and rude staff at the grill restaurant. The first time I ordered I waited 30mins and checked on my order (only ordered fried pickles) the girl who asked told them I had been waiting 5 mins which I corrected her and showed my receipt. Then they told me a couple more mins which eventually ended in me requesting a refund because they said the order never showed on the back screen. The second trip we made after driving through the park, my husband asked for the nacho fiesta WITHOUT guacamole and the cashier said they dont have guac and we pointed to the menu which clearly said they did. When we got the nachos they had guac which my husband decided to scoop off and when he took a bite he realized they were also layered with refried beans (not stated on the menu); I went to return them and one worker was very helpful but another lady chimed in asking if I originally asked for them without those items, which I pointed to the worker who clearly told me they didnt come with them in the first place. They redid the order and STILL added guacamole. So I definitely do not recommend coming here, but if you want to see an ACTUAL Safari I highly recommend taking a trip to the African Safari in Canada; Ive been many times since I was a child and Im never disappointed!
