Julie and Pat are the best. I bought all the Demasoni they had and they are all top notch. Healthy and already breeding. I just started getting into Flowehorns. They have the best quality and can get you what you want. I live in the Springs and asked them to hold the 2 they had for me. They did for a week. One of them was a little sick. They let me know that and told me they would just get me another one. It happens with Flowerhorns a lot. I wouldnt have noticed if Pat and Julie didnt tell me. So AAA+++ for that alone. They wanted to keep it and get me a new one or make sure he would be ok. When I said I wanted to take it and would quarantine it they gave me what I needed to care for it and still guaranteed it if It didnt pull around. How many of any shops would do that. They usually offer a 3 hour warranty. Not only that Julie calls and checks on the FH. Really, now thats caring about your customers. Tbhey are caring Awesome people. The other Flowerhorn is amazing and for his age KOK is huge. Best quality. They also are going out of their way to find me more Flowerhorns and a couple females. I will only get my fish from them. I have been in plenty of shops in Denver. Golden is hands down the best. Especially with customer service. I have been in and called a couple of the shops to see if they had Flowerhorns and other cichlids. All I can say is rude. The owner was rude. He wanted to sit and tell me how worthless FH are and how he wouldnt ever have one. Well I have 12 tanks so not just FH so that business up the street has lost my business completely. Other shops just cant compete with Golden. Julie and Pat at Golden always are polite answer all your questions and genuinely take care of you as a customer. Plus on top of that. Their store aka aquariums are super clean. They are always cleaning them. Nice shop and worth traveling too. They are the best and have earned my business for life. Thank you Julie and Pat for setting the example of what aquarium shops should be like. Hoss

This store is Amazing, hands down best quality in the metro area. Ill start off by saying the health and cleanliness off the tanks and store itself is top-notch. The selection is also reasonable, its mainly cichlids but if thats what your looking for dont go anywhere else, period. The community selection is a bit sparse but forgivable since thats not their specialty, the community fish they usually have is awesome because its not standard common junk. They carry healthy beautiful and quality in everything thats in there. Both myself and my mom buy fish from Julie and have never lost a single one (the same cannot be said for most other places either of us have acquired fish). The #1 complaint I have seen is the behavior of the owner Julie, while I have seen her not greet every shmuck who comes in there is good reason for this. Due to the location of her store she gets tons of people looking for a free exhibit. People with no intention to buy anything and gawk at her when she catches fish for her paying customers (I have seen this first hand. I went in for a pair of German Blue Rams [which by the way I refused to get from anywhere else] and a woman wearing pj pants with her kid was like "look at the lady catching fish timmy, isnt that soooo kewl" and making a nuisance of herself while Julie and I were trying to find a good male female pair.) In my experience once you have proven to be a serious and decently knowledgeable customer Julie is incredible. Every time my mom and I come in we have a nice conversation with Julie. Any stand-offishness is most likely a result of the constant window shoppers killing time in her store while waiting for the bus to come.

I went to this store to pick up some fish for a new tank that I had set up with gravel and water from an established tank. After purchasing them, I asked the clerk if theyd be safe in my new tank. She asked me if I used gravel and water from my main tank. Since I had, she assured me that theyd be safe. After arriving at home, I acclimated the bag to my tanks temperature and added some aquarium water to the bag. After waiting 30 minutes, I netted my new fish ad added them to my tank. I left the lights off to avoid stressing them out, fed them and went to bed. The next day, I woke up to find that my new fish didnt make it through the night. Upon returning to the store with the fishes bodies, my receipt and a water sample to test, the clerk told me that there was no guarantee on the expensive fish which was not marked on receipts from the store, but marked as "NG" on the stores tanks. (how would anyone know that this means) She said she would "see what she could do", even though she "didnt have to." She found that the difference in ph shocked the fish and told me that she would replace one and Id have to buy another. I decided to cut my losses and take my business elsewhere. Unless you are an experienced professional who has had fish for years, I would not recommended this store. All they seem to care about is making the sale and getting you out. Shop somewhere else!

I moved to Denver after living in another part of the country where the water is softer and has a lower natural Ph. I tried setting up my 10 gal tank with some cichlids purchased from Petsmart, but they killed each other. With only 1 lonely fish left, I decided to restart my tank, but with more tame, community tropical fish. I found Golden Fish Aquariums online, read the reviews and decided to give a local fish shop a shot--I was not disappointed. At the shop I talked with the owner, Julie, about my tank. She took the time to help me better set up my tank, even though it is only 10 gallons. She told me that I needed to bring the Ph of my water down (the water in Denver is mineral rich and hard), and gave me some Ph lowering powder to do so. She also told me that a way to naturally do this for the future would be to use a piece of wood in the tank, which she sold me from her shop (I know from previous experience that you cannot simply grab any piece of wood, or shell for that matter. Beach shells or driftwood from a lake can wipe out your tank.). A week later I returned, had my water tested and purchased some fish. My fish are doing just fine and Im well on my way to a better tank. Ill be shopping there from now on!

This is by far the best selection of Cichlids that we have found, and the selection is always changing. We go into this location every few months to check out the new fish and purchase our fish food, the tanks are always clean and the fish are in wonderful health. This location is not particularly close to home, but worth the drive! The couple that run the shop are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, every time we go into the store we are greeted with a smile and a hello. I personally would not listen to the posts about her attitude, if you are polite to them they are polite to you no doubt about that. There have been times where we have bombarded her with questions and she always has a helpful tip or solution. One thing that I have to point out is her fish catching abilities; there can be 20-30 small fish in a tank and if you point out the exact one that you want she can catch that fish in about 10 seconds flat. We will continue to make this our LFS and this husband and wife has 100% earned our respect and business! I highly recommend this store for any cichlid/discus/angel purchase!
