We came for dinner for the first time here Friday night before a show at the Opera House. It was also Woodlands First Friday ArtWalk so both the bar and restaurant were busy! Im glad we made reservations otherwise we probably wouldnt have got in! Im vegan so sometimes finding a place with both meat lovers and veggie lovers items is difficult, but Kitchen428s menu had something for each of us! I started with an amazing beet salad (minus cheese), it was a pretty large portion and the beets with the dressing were so flavorful! I then had a quinoa stuffed Portobello mushroom! It was so good! Stuffed with quinoa, sundried tomatoes & spinach. Our server informed us that they use almond milk when they sauté it! So good! They didnt have any vegan desserts - which was okay because I was FULL! My boyfriend had the strawberry & spinach salad and special prime rib - he said he loved everything also. I cant wait to come back and try their black bean burger for lunch!

What happened to the chef today at lunch? We ordered a soup and 2 salads. Soup was theoretically Potato-Leak, but I couldnt detect any leak. It was like a bowl of cheesy grits, only not as good (no stock, no seasoning). The beet salad was supposed to have 3 types of roasted beets, and "local" candied walnuts. What came was only boiled red beets, no nuts, no color, no freshness. Sent it back. I always hesitate to order Cesar salad at a restaurant, and here was no exception: a dressing with no flavor, un-helped by the extra anchovies I ordered. I ordered some chicken for the Cesar, which came bland and rubbery in a chunk on the side of the salad. Wow, very little inspiration overall. Service was courteous, but food doesnt cut it. Pity, because location is enjoyable...

The options for a good "sit down" restaurant in downtown Woodland are pretty scarce. This place delivers a consistent experience without going to a chain restaurant. They make a fresh soup from scratch everyday and Ive never been disappointed. Ive had the salads and the hot sandwiches and only been disappointed once after a couple dozen or so visits. My favorite is the beet salad add chicken breast. You can sit on the restaurant side or the bar side; I prefer the bar side and usually get very quick service. Id give it 5 stars, except the seating needs to be upgraded and there are occasionally flies in the summertime. But the food is top notch in Woodland.

Maybe lumch is not their strong point. We were very disappointed, looking for a farm to table restaurant in Woodland. We went for lunch. The potato soup was too thick and lumpy, no flavor, the beets salad, billed as roasted chiogga, golden and red beets had only boiled red beets. They didnt notify the server that they didnt have what is took to make the dish on the menu? The Caesar salad is a tasteless, drab plate of romaine, unbelievable that you have to pay extra for anchovies. We paid 50 bucks for lunch, 2 soups, 2 salads, 1 glass of wine and 1 beer. At those prices I think we should expect and get more. The servers however were really nice.

We really appreciate the atmosphere and food at Kitchen 428. We are vegan and it is one of the few places around where we can have a nice night out with delicious entree options. We had a sponach salad with peaches from local Manas Ranch, seared tofu with quinoa, peas/beans and a carrot puree, and a black bean burger. The bread is vegan and had a wonderful texture. We are very happy eith the beer and wine selection. The staff is friendly and the decor is fun. They feature local artists and bonus purchase, we bought a photo for our home! The bar section has the same food im less formal atmosphere.

Brunch, so we thought. Cant tell you how the food was because it never came after an hour of waiting. First, the server comes out and tells us there was a kitchen fire, so sorry, it will be just a bit longer. 30 minutes later, she says that our ticket went missing and can she take our order again and rush it. So, we order again. 15 minutes later, still no food. We ask how much longer, and she looks bewildered, and cant tell us. She says shell send the manager out. 5 minutes pass and we are too angry to eat there or wait any longer for the manager. Horrible service! Now we are at restaraunt #2.

Located in the heart of downtown, in the Jackson Building, where Morrisons once was. Theres always great beers on tap. The food is amazing. The service is great. Id eat there for every meal if I could afford to. They always have things going on there; i.e. dress up events, car shows, DJs, live music and more. They have a loaded jukebox and two flat screens that play most of the sports. The owner, Christy, is always floating around meeting and checking in on guests. Cant wait to drink and eat here again soon!

Came here for the first time on a sunday. Our waitress was the worst i have ever experienced. To add insult to injury they added a 20 percent gratuity on our check. No wonder the girl didnt care about service...she knew she would get her tip either way. The food is ok. The steak sandwich was fatty and had too much grissle in the meat. My wifes bacon was limp and soggy. We asked for a mimosa and it took 20 min to get it. I would rather eat at Dennys than this cat box.

We went for brunch on a recommendation. There was plenty of empty tables and we were seated right away. An hour later we left without eating. 40 minutes after ordering the server informed us that our ticket had been lost and she would rush our order. 20 minutes after that she could could not estimate how much longer it would take. The manager was too busy on the phone to see us. We left. Everyone elses food looked good . . . .

We always come here for those special occasions. Definitely worth it and intimate setting. Looking for a relaxed setting go through the doors to mojos. Either way the staff are friendly and awesome. Sometimes the meat will come out not cooked to order but they always try to fix it and make it right.

Weve been here twice now and will keep coming back. We love the historic building and unique decor. Dont overlook the old doors hanging over your head. They have a great selection of locally sourced food and beverages that are prepared with care. Weve havent left disappointed after either visit.

Loved the food, experience and the friendly staff. I ordered the rib eye and my coworker had the filet mignon. We both loved our dishes. We had tiramisu for dessert and it was delicious. Very creamy, almost like a custard.

We just went for a light dinner of salade and appetizers on a hot night--plenty for a dinner and delicious! Great margarita and craft beer choice, too. Friendly and efficient waitress in homey atmosphere.
