Ive never been to the Whisky to see a show...only to play shows for others with previous bands Ive been in. This place has so much history and its weird to think of all the bands that have blessed this stage. The staff at The Whisky have always been easy to deal with for me and my bands...maybe because were not assholes. For small local touring bands, this place is a pay-to-play spot. You have to sell a number of tickets to get a slot. We opened up for Powerman 5000 and a few other bands there and it didnt seem too much of a problem to sell a few tickets and get some people there to see you. The sound is pretty good and the sound guy was cool enough to let me use my vocal processor (not a lot of venues like that). All in all it was a great night and everything went off without a hitch. Tip: Go up a block to The Rainbow Room for pre-show shenanigans!

An experience at the Whisky all depends on your expectations. If youre a rock music fan and you know the history behind the Sunset Strip and the Whisky, youll appreciate your visit there. The things that have happened there are legendary. The majority of our rock idols from the 60s, 70s and 80s and some of the 90s have all played that very stage. Its a must as part of the Sunset Strip tour. Its still mostly original. Its not very big. The stage is small. Its old. If youre expecting it to be what it once was, you wont get that. If youre expecting it to be more than some rock music dive, you wont get that either. Me myself, I loved visiting it both times and I hope to go back one day. One day, it may not longer be there and itll just be a memory.

I hate to sound like an old hag, but is it always standing only? I mean I know, you come here to watch shows, you might be on your feet anyway, but I dont like dealing with cutters and random people prancing around me. I want my own darned space bubble. Also - is there designated parking? Or should I just circle around for a bit figuring it out? Also - is there reason why plastic drink cups of barely-there liquor are so pricey? Cman man. I dont know - maybe Im just not hip as the cool cats these days, but I steadily wished for a better venue than this. Old, in need of renovations/improvements, and quite a few other things - Ill skip a show here the next time a friend asks. My old lady butt enjoys a space bubble and a decent drink.

I went to a show here for the first time in 10 years. The music was awesome, but they over sold the venue and it was so packed that you couldnt move 6 inches without making someone mad. On top of that the security kept moving people out of the fire lanes...which is understandable, but when you oversell the show, there is literally nowhere else to go. The hole experience was a train wreck and super annyoying...i will not be back unless these guys start caring about the experience and less about sqeezong every nickle possible out of anyone that shows up. The place sucks and its truely a shame considering its history. Oh and the beer i got on tap smelled and had a faint taste of someone vommiting in the beer tap lines.

Spent most of the 00 crawling Sunset Strip. After countless concerts attended at the Whisky I can say without shame or doubt that it is one of the best venues I have ever been in. Sure it is tiny and old but it harkens back to a time when pressing the flesh was a REQUIREMENT at shows. Bathrooms are janky, AS THEY SHOULD BE. Staff is okay but the bartenders are great. The house sound engineer does so-so work and that typically accounts for most complaints about the sound. Encourage your favorite act to use their own person for levels. Parking is the same nightmare for every venue on the strip and the Whisky is no different. A small lot is adjacent (stacked parking) and another small one behind the venue.

What can you say about this place that hasnt already been said? This is where it started for so many bands and especially for my generation with 80s metal. I finally made it to the Whisky to see Winger and had a fantastic time. We had a table reserved, the staff kept the area clear so we were able to see the band without any issues and the wait staff was fantastic and we never went thirsty. There so much history with this place and I only wish I was there in the 80s to see all the bands I still love get their starts. Go and have a great time, you certainly wont be disappointed.

Awesome night club to enjoyed a show. It’s very small and intimate. Located at a corner on Sunset, down the street from better quality small clubs like Key Club and The Roxy. Independente its famous because a lot of big names got their start by playing here, but it was probably much better quality back in the day. Instead nowadays its old inside. The bathrooms are horrendous, sometimes it gets crowded and hot. And often if youre there for a band, prepare to wait for a long time before you can finally enjoy the show. ****

This place might of been great some time in history, and has but this place suck now. What an awful place. Employees there are asswh=les, security are bunch of fat douche-bag nazis. The beers are over priced (Budweiser-domestic beer- 7$). The entrance was 15 dollars. On the website it said 10 dollars for that evening. Plus i was over charged $50.00 on my debit card. all in all $71 for 3 beers (Budwiser!). AWful Awful experience . If you dont have to dont go.

Its an alright venue but if your underage they dont respect you here and have the policy of no ins or outs so if you decide to get fresh air you cant come back which I find stupid. The people that work here are so stuckup just because its hollywood they own this place. Not only this venue is small the stage is small and restroom is small Im not sure if this should even be qualified to be called a venue to throw shows at its to cramped and suffocating
