Came here with some friends to check out Black Sabbitch (yes, an all-female Black Sabbath tribute band--they rock) and we had a swell time. It was my first time here, and I was amazed at how very tiny it was! I mean, I knew it was small, but I didnt realize it was THIS small. The downstairs "lounge" area is about the size of a postage stamp but it does open up on the 2nd floor, which is the performance area. The soundproofing in this place is pretty incredible; when youre downstairs you cant hear ANYTHING thats going on on the 2nd floor, even if theres some horrendous and horrendously loud death metal playing (which there was). As you ascend the stairs the sound becomes louder and louder until youre completely walloped when you get to the top. The stage is small and you can get right up to it, which is always nice. I love being able to see bands up close. Black Sabbitch really brought it with surprisingly faithful covers and a theatricality I wasnt expecting--we had a blast! Theres a bar on each floor and we availed ourselves to both--the bartenders were friendly and on the ball in both areas, so no complaints there. Tiny bathrooms, though, ugh. After the show was over we were lingering a bit, finishing our drinks but security was anxious to shoo us out, which made for bit of a buzzkill, but oh well.

We were in town for NAMM 2015 and the first night (a Friday), we went to go in and they have a $25 cover for some local band. We werent going to pay that much so we were leaving and noticed that people with NAMM passes could get in free the next night. We came back to see Black Sabbitch, an all female Black Sabbath Tribute Band. (They were great!). When we walked in, its just a long hallway. If you go straight, it ends into a very small sitting room. Theres a hall to your right that takes you into the stage area. Its VERY dark with the only real light coming from the blue lights at the bar. Its very small. That being said though, remember, this is also a fairly historical 90s bar. River Phoenix died just outside the back door (which is actually located on the strip.) I thought the restrooms were actually pretty awesome. The ladies room was painted red with band stickers all over everything. Its not your upscale place, thats for sure. But I personally love the rock n roll style. Drinks were expensive. But again, I was there for the experience and experience is what I got. It is a bit scary inside if youre uncomfortable with a lack of lighting. It was very easy to be up by the stage. I enjoyed going there and will likely go back when I am in town again.

It may not be as big as The Roxy, It may not get the names of The Troubadour, but for my money The Viper Room is the HEART of the Sunset Strip! When I first went to VR a few years ago the door guy was a dick and the clientelle was by far more ritzy than now. But in the last couple years the drink prices have gone down and the true "divey" nature of the venue has come out! Its gritty and real like a bar should be! The best parking is a block away at the city of west hollywoods lot where you can park for $5. Its the old Tower lot by the Coffee Bean. Or you can park at 9000 Sunset for $5 most nights as well. The street parking JUST ISNT WORTH IT! Meters go til 2am and its killing business on the strip. If youre with the city of west hollywod, FIGURE IT OUT! blech parking! The sound is the best on the strip and youll be surprised by the unknown acts that play there. If you think they dont book good acts its just because you didnt see them the first time they came through when they were unknown!

Saw a show here a minute ago and was pleasantly surprised. Similar in several respects to the Whisky most of the same issues arise: sound quality, size, humans. House engineer is/was pretty decent with the act I saw only having to do minor adjustments to his levels. The bar is expensive, no surprise there, but if you want to make a night of it I suggest bottle service. You get a booth and that solves the "humans" problem. "What problem?" you might ask. Adding people to a venue of this size makes space a precious commodity and most patrons will find themselves rather personally acquainted with one another.

Piss on the bathroom floors, no place to sit without paying top dollar and crappy bar service without a smile. I love this place for all of the above. As a nostalgic Hollywood local hangout along with the bands you are here to see, the experience is classic and worth every penny. However, I did notice that there was some construction going on in early 2016 so I cant speak much for this place after that time.

Went there with my Norwegian friends to show them a good time. All of a sudden my friend gets jumped by 3 guys which beat him up so bloody he had to went to the hospital,I told the security guy to hold the people that did this to my friend but he didnt care and just let them leave, he didnt even help us break up the fight. You wont feel safe at viper room a lot of aggressive people there

I came here to support a friends band. They were set up in the lower part of the lounge so I only got to see this part. There was a small stage with some dance space in front and an average sized bar along the side wall. It was a Sunday night so the turnout wasnt great but decent. Just pay to park in their lot because there is NO street parking without a permit and the cops will tow you.

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME IF YOUR GAY AND YOU WANNA GET LAID!!!!!! drinks are overpriced but dancing is fun when it doesn’t get crowded in there. Huge club, great music, lots of gays. It was a great place for a bachelor party before hitting the bars. Great jokes. I had a great time watching a show put on by some of the funniest people Ive ever seen on stage.

Its one of those historical venues that you should check out in sunset strip , its a small and very personal venue , perfect to check out for new music and artists as well as some great bands close and personal, lighting was alright and drinks were priced just as you might expect from a bar, not cheap at all ..

Siamo stati un sabato sera e abbiamo visto due gruppi suonare, entrambi molto bravi. Locale piccolino ma accogliente e tipicamente underground!

My name is Kenneth Thomas and this is my review! Yow!! A club on the Sunset Strip with real vipers?!?! I hope the snake handlers arent drinkin, as it would get crazy if the vipers got outta control! Maybe Ill just get a vodka soda, hold the vodka, so I can keep my wits about me.
