My wife and I were visiting LA for the Dwell convention and to visit our son. We had two more days after the convention to shop and hang out and we wanted something close by to our son, We had stopped the night before for drinks at Casa Del Mar next door...had a great time and thought we would come back to see what the "Shutters" had to offer. We thought we would test the waters with drinks and appetizers at about 6 pm .We went to the restaurant and asked for a beach window view for drinks and appetizers, Mistake. Appetizers are apparently not appropriate to eat in the restaurant. We were told we couldnt sit in the restaurant for appetizers and drinks but we were welcome go to the lobby or the patio. I said the lobby was full and it was too cold for my wife on the patio ...the hostess stated they would turn on the patio heaters so we proceeded to the patio. Nice view and great people watching. Drinks and appetizers were very good but our waitress missed my second drink order...flagged her down and had to order again with additional appetizer. then she disappeared. I finally had to go find someone to close us out. Manager actually stated out loud that she went on break They obviously hadnt assigned someone to our table (or the next tables ) when she left. the Next table went in to complain as well as they were waiting for their desert. He said "welcome to the Shutters Experience" We got our tab from a gal who apologized indignantly. we then discovered that we had to have our valet parking ticket validated in order to have the car brought forward and pay for it. I SHUTTERED at the Shutters. Lesson: dont bother the staff during breaks and dont think to ever mix appetizers with dinner Valets were great.....first valet to open the door for my wife instead of the guy with the tip money. The Westin got my money next

Ich war schon mehrfach im "Coast", der Beach Café & Bar. Man erreicht es direkt vom Strandweg aus. Es geht dort mehr entspannt zu, was meinem Typus entspricht, aber trotzdem mit Stil. Die Speisekarte lässt keine Wünsche offen. Ich empfehle die Steaks (mein Favorit: New York Schnitt). Zum Dessert auf jeden Fall den Schokoladenkuchen essen. Oder zum Nachmittagskaffee kommen ;) Der Service ist stets aufmerksam und freundlich! Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis: in Ordnung. Empfehlenswert: reservieren über die Website. Geht schnell und ist zuverlässig.

he hotel is absolutely beautiful! I had the pleasure of eating at their restaurant, " The Coast " and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. First off, the hostess had zero attitude and as she sat me down, she broke a glass which was below my table. She didnt even apologize or bothered to clean up til later! then someone out of no where showed up with coffee and left. I turned around to ask for cream and no was around. I waited 25 minute for a waiter. Finally, " Fernando " showed up and didnt even say hi! he got our order and whatever we ordered, he would slam it on the table. Dont really know what was going on yesterday. I spoke to Randy Diamond, who I was told that is the hotel manager but he was the director of rooms. Really nice guy. He apologized but dont know how much more he could do. The damage was already done. Also, try not to valet. Once you get your car, you have to wait for others to leave ahead of you, which in my case I waited 10 minutes! not a good experience

Was made to wear a cover up cause shoulders cant be shown. Yet a woman satbacross the room in the same amount of shoulder showing that i did and a child wearing a tank top was running about the restaurant.. I get the its fine Dining(was unaware) but its brunch on the beach. And if your going to try to he upscale please have a staff thatbis well trained and know how to correctly remove the meat from the lobster so when im eating my Lobster Benedict im not biting into hard connective pieces. Second sending out hashbrowns that were made first thing in the morning and sat under or in some sort of heating surface is not ok. Theres crispy then theres stale dried out hashbrowns. Know when to theow something out and make fresh. I may have not looked fine dining to you but i still paid the same price as the lady wearing a sleavless shirt did. The only thing good about this place was the "Valet Staff"

Make sure your appearance is high class and Caucasian to walk into the restaurant. Im white but clearly was too casual and different to be served. I wasnt greeted with a smile or acknowledged., but saw others walk in after me get treated as such. Last time I checked money is money and dont see why anyone should be treated differently based off how casual they are dressed. I asked for a seat outside for 1, I was told there werent any. I wasnt even offered a seat to sit inside so I left. The woman on the phone I put a formal complaint with had the same attitude as the guy at the restaurant. Extremely disappointed that I couldnt enjoy a nice lunch on the beach after I worked out. All I was wearing was a hat tank top and shorts. Guess I had too many wrinkles.

Ive only been to shutters on the beach once to deliver packages to a customer. The front doorman wouldnt let me thru the front door. I was told to go to the loading dock and to meet the customer there. When I went to the loading dock, the loading dock manager told me to go thru the front door. They all didnt know what to do for the customers packages. And none of us could reach the customer, since the customer left the hotels number and not his personal number and the customer wasnt in their room. Then finally, the hotel personel loading dock manager took the packages into the security office till they can reach the customer for pick up. Tho it was not allowed. They allowed it under the circumstances of timely delivery

Durch die direkte Strandlage (die nur 2 Hotels am Santa Monica Pier haben) und die Nähe zum Santa Monica Pier ist dieses Hotel für mich besonders besuchenswert. Auch die Zimmer sowie das Äußere des Hotels sind altmodisch schön anzusehen. Der einzige negative Aspekt für mich sind jedoch die Speisen, die köstlich, aber trotzdem überteuert sind.

The hotel itself is beautiful and in a stunning location right on the beach. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Ive only had breakfast at the Coast restaurant but it was very good. One issue I had, is that you can hear everything that goes on in the hallways outside of the room. Doors opening and closing, people talking. Theres a storage room outside of our room and the staff seem to be constantly in and out of it. Another issue, was with the plug sockets. Every time i put a plug in or pulled one out there would be a blue sparks which didnt seem particularly safe. Other than that a really Ive had a really pleasant stay.
