From reading other peoples review, I felt like I went to the wrong beach.... My outlook, right off the PCH so that is nice, there is paid parking you can pay $12 to go all day, you MIGHT get lucky and get a spot off the PCH, there are some spots in front of peoples houses that arent tow zones or blocking their driveway. I must have gotten lucky. Its quite a hike from the parking to actually get to the water. The beach sand is nice and clean, the water sand is not so much the same. Once you get close to the water, there is a lot of seaweed and "debris" piled up. The water is very rocky with sediment. The water, its nice, but I wouldnt say its surfing water, the waves break fairly close to the edge, therefore if you were able to surf, youd go about 2 feet before the wave ended. Not ideal. Body boarding maybe a better idea in this area. There are definitely better beaches in California, for surfing and just going to the beach in general.

I have the honor of working really close to this beach. I get to enjoy small walks on Ocean Boulevard with the beautiful view of PCH and the Santa Monica State Beach. Colorful array of apartments, diverse people, vibrant greens even in the scorching heat of summer. As a local here, it does get irksome especially in the afternoon til dusk for there is a serious influx of people coming to enjoy the beautiful view and warm sand at the beach. But who could blame them? Santa Monica is very popular for a reason. They also have this long boardwalk where a lot of people walk, run, jog m, skate, and bike on. It extends to Venice Beach. Theres a specific area on the southern side for working out. Theres also a tiny playground. I, myself, have enjoyed the swings multiple times. Of course, it has gotten quite dirty - trash here and there - over the years, as it gets more modish. But its beauty may never get past me.

Santa Monica Beach is my home beach. I love the view of the Santa Monica Mountains, the sunsets, the sand under my feet, and everything else about it. (Disclaimer; this is not an endorsement of any medical procedure or treatment.) I had some swelling in my feet, but when I walk on the North Sands (north of the pier) inside thirty minutes every ounce of swelling went away. Southern California has very nice beaches but this one is my favorite one. It is so calm and peaceful and to be quite honest with you I dont want to go anywhere else. It is close to the pier, shopping, and dining, and yes it is close to a nice little amusement park as well. I love feeling her sands, and smelling the fresh salt air, so sweet and serine.

Arrivarci in macchina è incantevole.

Big beach at the pier! The beach here is really huge and is easily accessible from where I-10 ends and Pacific Coast Highway #1 begins along the ocean, walking distance to the Santa Monica Pier with shops and restaurants and more parking. Be sure to pay for parking if driving in since the spaces fees are strictly enforced! There are restroom facilities here with food and drink vendors nearby. Access with Palisades Park as well as Ocean Av. through the 3rd Street Promenade on foot may be through the pedestrian walkway alongside the California St Incline or south along Palisades Park or through the Santa Monica Pier entrance.

Always find the beach with plenty of space. But after 20 or 40 minutes police will look you over and tell you you cant vaporize in Santa Monica. Also your $20 sun shade tent is illegal. They get mad and take it personally even on first warning. I am realy convinced they have no rights to ask me who I am or see my little tent at all but I could be killed by jerks who dont stop BP or Nestle. Meanwhile people living 100 feet away in tents not on the beach or with big awnings or umbrellas up permanently. In the pas I have been robbed after going into the water but these jerks dont have anything at all like thst on the agenda.

I like this beach. Me and my family would always go here, back in the old days. The pier is the best part of it all. Its got an arcade area, theres painters/artists, theres churros and lots more snacks around there, some restaurants as well, theres entertainment, a carnival area with a small rollercoaster and a ferris wheel. Its got plenty of public restrooms. I didnt take good pictures because I was busy enjoying the moment for me and a friend decided to take a spontaneous trip here at night. Lots of people were around the pier but the sand area was quite empty and comfy for those who want to be alone and relaxing.

Santa Monica has great beaches in a great location. A couple blocks below third street, it is in a great location. There are great restaurants and shops nearby. The view of Malibu to the North, and Palos Verdes to the South are great, especially at/near sunset. This place is idyllic and a must-see if you are looking for a taste of California life. The Santa Monica pier splits the beach. It is a lot of fun its carnival rides, roller coasters, and its arcades. The food on the pier is expensive, however, and I would recommend walking up into Santa Monica to find something to eat.

So so so so crowded but if you can find a parking spot (go early) and relax and set up. Its a really lovely beach. Close to the pier and lots of stuff to do in the area, it is like getting away in a crowded place though. Loved boogie boarding and being able to listen to the performers on the pier. All within a short walk of the parking right at the beach. it cost $12 and cash only but I always think its well worth it. The bottom one is a bit harder to get to and the pier one fills up very fast but will always recommend the convenience!

One of the most popular LA beach attractions with the pier games, rides and entertainment and various other restaurants to eat. The beach area is often crowded on the weekends and many people passing thru on bikes you can find people flying kites. Be advice that parking can be difficult at times and usually rangers for $12 for a whole day at the beach public parking lots. Also, bathrooms are a bit far apart to walk to on the beach and one on the pier area, just seams that they should be a bit closer to each other and not so far apart.
