I will NEVER go to Brick and Mortar again and I will make sure everyone I know knows what kind of place this is. The reason for my great disdain is due to the cancellation of September 28ths show. As a venue for up-and-coming music groups the owner and promoters of B&M should really understand that recording of the show will happen. If there is a strict NO RECORDING stipulation in this establishments building/business policies, they must make it utterly and completely CLEAR. It is extremely unfortunate that this "policy" is told to the booked artists minutes before they are to go on stage. Of even greater concern is the fact that the artists were told they very well could record their performance. The owner of this venue and those who do business with him should really be embarrassed by this blatant and BRAZEN unprofessionalism. They never deigned to come out to explain to ticket holders what happened, it seemed like they didnt care. I feel for the artists who had to put up with faulty information and in the end bore the brunt of the disappointment. It appears that this entrepreneur also owns The Independent and The New Parish... I wonder if he is as business savvy with these businesses as he is with B&M.

I bought a beer at the bar. I was drinking the beer, and 3 minutes later, one of the bartenders took my beer away. In response, I told her that half of my beer was taken away. I asked if it is possible to get half of the beer back. She in response laughed in my face, and said: “Once you buy the drink, you are responsible for your it.” Then she called the other bartender, and I told the other bartender the same. The next thing that happened, was that I found myself taken aggressively out by the security guy, like I was a criminal!!! I never had such an assaulting experience in SF. Those bartenders were on a power trip!!! My friends, who witnessed the whole situation were shocked, and of course left the place too. I wore the management an a Email a week ago and got no response.

Great food and fantastic music. Ordered from the fixed menu and was blown away by the quality of food. Absolutely delicious and tastefully presented. Excellent service - very attentive during the meal, then left alone during the music -- just the way I like it. The evenings band was fantastic (Eric Jekabson trio). I dont know these guys, but as a musician, I can tell you that the playing was top notch. Seasoned musicians playing with enthusiasm and tons of taste. All good my friends. A highly recommended evening out.

Note that some of the older reviews are probably for Coda, Levende, and other restaurants/venues that previously inhabited that venue. Brick & Mortar doesnt appear to serve food, or at least they didnt at the jazz funk show I went to last night. They do serve great music in a stripped down venue for not very much money. Although ticket prices are low, drinks average around $6 or $7. They have a good selection of whiskey & bourbon, but not the best beer ... though if youre the PBR type, of course they have you covered.

My mouth is still seriously watering from Saturday night. The food and drinks were perfectly balanced and enjoyable. The sweet potato French fries, polenta and scallops have left an impressionably delicious mark on my taste buds. The price was reasonable and our waiter was attentive. A lot of fun and enjoyed the people watching.

I ended up here randomly last saturday night and I was really impressed with the venue. Its one large open room but the sound is really good. The drinks were about what you would expect for a concert venue. The atmosphere was really nice. Loud - obviously - but I think I would really enjoy going here if I had a band in mind.

I love this venue. My buddy Michael OConnor, who also owns the New Parish, is a superb host and it shows in how he runs the place. The shows start on time, the drinks are strong and the bands rock. And the location is perfect if you want to chill in the Mission after the show.

Super small and intimate venue. Sound is great and if you want to be a groupie, you have full access to the front of the stage. Parking was fairly easy (I found a spot right out front). The bartenders are super friendly and dont make you wait forever to order a drink.

This was a great concert venue close to a few other must-visit places (check out Smitten ice cream just up the road). Nice and small, which I prefer. Saw Conte DJ here and it was a ton of fun. They also had some great cocktails: I got a couple of Dark & Stormies.

Went to see the Primitives. Idk who was playing before them but it was very depressing! I walked in and the whole crowd is just standing around, all wearing black and drinking. It looked like a funeral! I didnt even stay to see the headliner lmao!

we went there for new years dinner two years ago, overall a good experience: Jazz was great, food was decent and atmosphere was very friendly, if youre looking for a jazz place in SF you should def. try this out

The venue itself feels a bit industrial (which to me is a weird vibe for a music space) but that shouldnt stop you from going to a gig and supporting local/touring bands!

Went here for a friends show a couple weeks ago. Casual venue, great for this type of music, Deschuttes Fresh Squeezed IPA on tap is always a win in my book.

Pretty small. There are bits of seating here and there. If your show gets out early enough, you can go hang and get a burger down the street at Zeitgeist.

This place is horrible!!!! The owner canceled a show due the group wanting to use a video camera!!! I would never ever visit a place like this again.
