Its my second favorite club, but owned by the people that started my first favorite club (Mighty)! They get consistently great DJs and people are there to dance. Much like Mighty, its a large room. It also has a balcony area thats wide enough to dance on if the ground floor fills up. Theres something about the sound dynamics of the place I cant quite identify. I use to call it an echo chamber, but I feel like theyve come a long way with that. Theres just something about the space that just doesnt completely jive with me. That being said, I do think they are a fine, fun club that puts up world class talent. They have professional security and bartenders and staff. And a clientele that is there to have fun and dance. Have Fun!

Public Works si conferma uno dei migliori locali in San Francisco per qualita musicale e per latmosfera. Diversamente da altri locali PW resta aperto anche dopo le due. Collocato su due livelli Public Works offre diversi generi musicali ed una silent disco allaperto

The downstairs sound system is pretty awesome, one of the best Ive come across. Theres an upstairs room also but its not always open. Sometimes the venue hosts non-music events like art shows and it use to host the "underground farmers market" (indie food tables). Street parking can be tough on Friday & Sat nights since its near the night club & bar area. Id suggest looking for street parking along 13th St (under the highway), or on Van Ness or Folsom, south of 13th St.

Ive bern here for a few different shows and they host a day-party during the summer. First floor is one, big open space with Bar on the opposite wall from the entrance. Upstairs, there is second room and also a balcony for looking down onto the main floor. Ive only gone for music, so cant speak to other events. Ive found the bartenders to be fast, the acts good, and the crowds friendly. It can get crowded but its spacious enough that you never feel trapped.

Public Works is such a cool space. I think the review all depends on what you are doing here at the time of your visit. I have been lucky enough to attend a few private events here and really love the layout of the space. There are areas to dance, a stage, a few bars, and a couple areas that a perfect for more private conversations. The size also allows for a pretty big group. Overall a nice venue.

Great for throwing a personal or company party with ample space for vendors! Its a 2 story event venue with a stage on the bottom floor with a bar and decent sound system. The space is open with space to view the stage from the second level. I dont think itd throw a party here but its definitely a cool space, that can be utilized with endless possibilities.

I dont go and see electronic music very often but I really enjoyed the recent concert I went to at Public works. Its a large space and they have a lot of bars around so there was never a long line. I think the atmosphere is a little lacking but with all of the dancing and light shows going on, I can understand why they would want to keep it rather bare.

impersonal club on the bigger side as far as SF goes, bad acoustics(funktion one system badly needs tuning) , awkward beams all over the place, expensive drinks...early closing time(though lately staying open longer), sometimes weird crowd. BUT some of the best bookings in SF. so youll probably end up there if you like quality music.

Bouncer kicked me and my friend out of the line for drinking. Which everyone else was doing. Had us wait off to the side for 30 more minutes after wed already thrown away our bottles and were minimally intoxicated. Used this as an opportunity to teach my friend and I (both women) a lesson. Will never go back here after this experience.

Public Works is an event space in the Mission that has 2 floors and a bar. Ive only been here during tech parties but my experience at these parties are always positive. Although small, the venue does provide an intimate atmosphere for networking events. My biggest gripe is that theres only one bathroom and it tends to be pretty dirty.

One of my favorite venues in San Francisco. Ive seen it turned into a pop-up foodie night, a conference talk, and a few pretty wild concerts. The space flexes really well and I always have a good time. Bar service is pretty good, and sometimes even that gets taken over by the event. Bonus: theres a Banksy piece on the outside wall.

Racist people operating the entry to the club. Tried to get in 9/18 and black woman and black bouncer would not let me in because i was white. I had the 20 dollars and they would not let me in. Phone was dead, and they would not allow me to meet up with my friends. They left me stranded on the street.

Terrible. I went to go see Todd Terje perform and was having a good time while the openers were playing, then got escorted out by the bouncers unexplained before I ever had a chance to see the main act. I definitely wasnt causing trouble, but the bouncers dont care. I want my $30 back.

My favorite club in San Francisco. The best DJs, the best sound system, and the best scene for pure enjoyment of house music in the city. Dont go for a super luxe club with flashing lights and tasty drinks. Go for the music and dance well past the SF curfew.

A very unique venue! Ive been to a holiday party here and a Moth show. I believe that the building was converted because the layout is different. Its also a bit out of the way of the main street. Overall, id recommend it as a multi-purpose venue.

Love this place! Great speakers, decent prices on drinks, friendly staff, large smoking area, good vibes, sweet artwork from local artists that get auctioned there, and a steady lineup of respectable DJs to keep your booty movin.

I love the design of this club. The dancefloor is very big, the artists that play there are the best electronic music selection in this city. Bartenders, audio quality, everything makes this an excellent place to spend the night.

Great sounds and visuals in this very much local club. Probably the premier place in the city to catch burning man related DJs. The only minus is the sometimes very long lines and at good nights how crowded it can get inside.

I went to an event in Public Works and the space was great. The staff was polite and fun to interact with. They were organized and efficient. They are a great space that can transform to anything you want your event to be.

Great acoustics, and it hosts really good dance parties, art events, and food markets. Ive only been to some dance party and art events this far but they are really fun and often chill. I enjoy myself here a lot!

I went there to see Talib Kweli this past Friday! My first time and really liked the venue. Great dance floor as I got to explore it. The bar only accepts cash. Had a great time as a concert venue.
