State Street Winery has been a regular stop for my girlfriend and I for about 3 years. At first it was fun and new to us and we enjoyed going. Janet and Robin are the owners. Robin seems to really love what he does there...serving his patrons and meeting people but he works a day job so he cant always be there. Janet is pleasant but much more reserved. When they are not there, the daughters have the helm. At first, one of the daughters was there on our first visit. She was nice and friendly and even talked me into starting a monthly membership with them. We would visit every other week. Robin is most enjoyable as he likes to chat with you and let you know what kind of wine you are tasting next. Noting the flavors and aromas. That is what wine is all about. It is a social time. We noticed a change about 8 months ago. The owners were not there so one of the daughters and her husband were running the place. My girlfriend and I walked in to get our monthly membership bottle of wine and so we sat for the tastings. Oddly, It was as if we were not even there. We shrugged it off and thought it was just a bad day. No worries. A few weeks later, my girlfriend takes her daughters and got the same treatment. No interaction. No idle chat. No involvement as to what you are tasting...just pour and go. I wanted to believe that again it was just another bad day. The last time we had gone to get our wine, we popped our heads in and noticed Robin and Janet not there. We looked at each other and said should we? We decided to try one more time. It was not overly busy. Their daughter had either her boyfriend or husband with their child there. We got the same treatment. "Heres your sample...drink it and leave". Now of course that is not what was said but you sure felt that way. So that is exactly what we did...and the last time I went back was to get my membership bottles of wine and I cancelled my membership. You know what? Not even a thank you. Robin and Janet...you guys are great and do have a nice business but unless Robin is there...it is not really an enjoyable place to visit but it can be. Wine is a social drink. You talk about it...you laugh at it...you experience it. Its not beer. If I could rate this with 2-1/2 stars I would as I dont hate the place but I no longer think is is just okay. I hope you read this constructively...you have lots of potential. Good luck.

I am a regular visitor at this winery and I can say that NEVER had a bad experience. If Redlands guy, whoever that is has got the places wrong. All those who work at State Street have been so polite and always go out of their way to make you feel youre the only person in there (its packed Thurs-Sat nights and have great live music too!). They might not serve food but you can bring in your fave foods and some of the places in downtown actually will deliver there. Victor, who is one of the wine makers there was SO kind as to pick up our pizza from down the street when we ordered it, now can you tell me who does that these days? Also, Victor and Desiree have been really a pleasure to talk to and know about the wines that are at State Street, all you have to do is ask, even if you dont know much wines or what you really like, those two can find a wine there that tickles your tastebuds. I buy all my wine there, and Im even in the wine club as well. Now, "Time in a Bottle" was so awful (owner raised her voice and accused me and my friends of not wanting to pay cover charge, even though she saw me come in with friends, AND no where on the door did it say a cover charge either)that I actually had to find somewhere else and that is where I found out about State Street (NO COVER CHARGE). If anyone is looking for a great place, great service and great wine, State Street IS THE place!!

I actually wouldnt know... I showed up minutes before it opened (which was at 1:00, according to the sign on the door). I peaked through the window and saw a woman working on a computer inside. When 1:00 came, I looked in again, and she was still on her computer. So I waited a little longer, until around 1:03, when I peaked through the window and knocked on the door. She looked at me with an annoyed look, and put one hand in the air, as if to say, "Well, what do you want?" So, I politely motioned at the sign indicating the hours, to non-verbally ask if she was going to open for business. But she just looked away and waved me off with her hand! Another gentleman walked up at that moment and asked me if it was open. I told him, the sign seems to say so, but the woman inside doesnt seem to want to open because she just shooed me away. I heard the wine is "okay," but I thought Id come try it, while I did some paperwork. Never again. One chance is all you get with service. There are too many other great places that will treat me well, and provide some good wine. I wouldnt recommend anyone taking their chance with this place--they dont need your business.

I came here on a Saturday with my girlfriend and her friend with the intention of wine tasting. Online they advertised wine tasting for $7, and as we approached the winery, the sign in front indicated "Wine Tasting Today!". Upon entering, we were greeted by an incredibly loud The Cars cover band playing the most miserable rendition of Drive I have heard in my life. We then sat down and could not hear each other across the table due to how deafeningly loud the song was. A server came by and after we indicated that we were interested in wine tasting, he informed us that they stopped at 6PM (It was 6:40). The interior looked quite nice and cozy. That is just about all I can say in defense of this place. We decided to leave and go to Augies for coffee instead.

I brought a large group of customers (12+) here on a weeknight for tasting prior to going out for supper. Once we found out that The Stockyard delivered, the owner (Janice) was incredibly accommodating. She not only let us stay late, but provided amenities for the food and was a great hostess. She even kept the doors open later than planned because we werent done. I would highly recommend this place to others. Plus - the wine was good and prices were VERY reasonable.

Loved this place! We almost missed this place since its hidden in a back alley. This is definitely not a place for groups its more for a date night or a night with your best friend. The wine list is huge. We took forever choosing our wine. However, I dont think it was possible to make a bad choice there. Next time I come here, Im definitely splitting a bottle and some cheese.
