The worst of the cinepolis far behind La Costa, Del Mar, Laguna Niguel (Ocean Ranch) and for 1 reason only. Poor service. As youve figured the concept is luxury from the full bar, full service, fully reclining seats it creates an experience that enhances the movie itself. Ive gone to each of these theaters close to the opening and many times after and all had quirks and all have a learning curve, but RSM has failed to fix the kitchen and service. If I was the owner I would fire the GM, Managers and most of the staff, thats how far behind the curve they are. They are far and away better theaters than almost every other, but they are actually rated lower than Regal and Regency which is unheard of. People can get over the prices and the location and a ton of other stuff, but not service. The system is totally there for them. My MO is usually grab drinks elsewhere as their bar is supposedly full and carries the full assortment of drinks, but not varieties. A few of each kind of liquor, but not a ton and definitely not well, but the price of a few drinks for you and friend is the price of the movie which is pricey. Look to spend $10 per drink $20 for the movie and on average $10+ per item from the menu so basically $100. That I can deal with, but Im not waiting for my drinks and that is where the first sign of a bad time occurs. I cant review on the bar until Ive actually sat at it, so I dont use my usual pre drink else where until a few visits later and like all the others the quality and drinks are the same, but service here was just a hair slower. Food ordering was normal, but both the handrolls and corndogs took 25 minutes each and not continuous, but back to back eventhough I ordered them at the same time. My cocktails took 15 minutes and were more watery than the bars, so I switched to beers. On another occasion they brought my beer with 10 minutes left in the movie. You would think the servers are making the food and drinks rather than just bringing it. Yes the food is somewhat basic, but unlike the other locations its not a place for the unseasoned high school teenager to work at like every other theater. Im expecting more and if Im paying for it you may not have my business here much longer. Parking sucks. I come here mid week when its not too busy and drink off site to avoid such a hefty night out, and dont even think about going to the bathroom when the movies get out, might as well wait. Youre on your 3rd strike in my half dozen times here each of different offenses.

If I could I would give a negative star review and here is why: We have lived near the Rancho Santa Margarita area for over 30 years and in the RSM community for over 20 years. We were regular customers of Cinepolis in RSM since it opened, that is, until Fri. Oct 28th. On this day we had a very unfortunate experience when someone in the theater reported that they saw the outline of a gun in my husbands pants. Let me stop right here and say WE DID NOT HAVE A GUN. WE DONT EVEN OWN A GUN. Then, unbeknownst to us the mgr, following protocol, called the police. 10 min after entering the theater and taking our seats we were surrounded by police in swat gear who led my husband to the hallway. This was all extremely frightening and confusing to say the least!!! I was shaking as they interrogated and searched my husband. They found NO GUN, no weapon of any kind (he was carrying a regular sized cell phone and wallet). The police apologized and left. And then nothing, no one came to us to offer any explanation. I was still shaking and got up to find out why this had happened. I saw the mgr and started to ask questions. I was given a cold, curt and rude treatment by him and the supv. Lacking even a shred of common courtesy or understanding as to what we were just put through from either of them, it was no surprise our conversation turned into more of a confrontation (a simple sorry for the inconvenience was beyond their capabilities). I returned to my seat feeling nauseous and we decided to leave. We asked for our money back and once again had to face the terse supervisor’s obvious irritation with us. I called her out on the fact that no apology was ever offered to us and she said they apologized. NO, I ASSURE YOU, YOU DID NOT APOLOGIZE! This review would have been very different if you had! We were the victims of someone’s paranoid imagination and you treated us like we had done something wrong. And that’s why I’m giving you a negative rating. As for the public: Beware! check your imaginary guns at the door and enter at your own risk and hope these two nincompoops aren’t working that night. Good luck.

Whats there not to like? It begins by reserving our seat by email, negating the annoying necessity to arrive early, wait in line and then vie for a seat. We like to arrive a bit late, missing the 20 minutes of previews - yet our seats are patiently waiting for us. When we do arrive, the facility is immaculate and beautifully appointed. The barcalounger-like leather seats are phenomenally comfortable. With a flick of a button they fully recline for pure movie relaxation. We like to lift the center arm rest and make it our private sofa. Our next door neighbors feel miles away! With another button we summon our waiter to take our food order where everything from sliders to chocolate covered popcorn is available. Youd think for all this luxury that it would cost an arm and a leg...youd be dead wrong. Theater tickers are under $20 and the food is remarkably reasonable. For my wife and I, Cinepolis is a one of the least expensive get-aways money can buy. It makes regular theaters feel like were slumming it. For us, theres no better to enjoy a movie outside our home theater than a couple hour stay at Cinepolis.

Super comfortable seating. Nice staff and servers, good films, but the food is not very good and ridiculously expensive! No refills on the drinks or extra large popcorn. We will continue to go but we wont buy food anymore. In the beginning their food was really quite good, but they changed their menu, I believe, and theres not much to choose from. The best thing on the menu, in our humble opinion, are hot dogs and theyre $9.75 each! Dont know what else to tell you about the food department. Super comfortable seats. You can bring your pillow and your blanket and cuddle. All thats great. Its a great idea just need to upgrade their food and maybe make it worth the money. This is just one reviewers opinion

The best theater experience around hands down. Every time I bring someone for the first time, they are blown away. It is my absolute favorite place to see a movie. Its not cheap, so its a treat. If I could afford to make it the only place to see a movie, I would. I love that I can kick back next to my date in a recliner and at the push of my service button a server appears and brings me anything off the menu. I dont have to listen to chatty teens, kids kicking the back of my seat. Its a grown up theater experience that everyone should check out. Guarantee you wont be disappointed.
