All around, best winery experience we had in Napa. Its difficult to put into words the feeling of knowledge you get when touring the estate with Jeff. We visited the Ranch on a nearly perfect day in early March, and were taken back by the education and warm welcome we received. Its very clear that Hendry is driven by passion. When you find out that two of the individuals that play a large role in the operations of the Ranch build Cyclotrons (Particle Accelerators) as a day job - the ultimate fusion of old world traditions and new world engineering is exposed. I wont ruin the tour for anyone, but they did two things that we didnt experience any other place. The tasting at the end of the tour included all wines they had available (we tasted 11 wines), and they used olive oil to simulate "Fat" in a steak and showed the group how they heavier Cabernet Sauvignon changed after you ate a cracker with olive oil on it. It was truly an eye-opening experience for our table. Joined their wine club, not because of the amazing tour or the fantastic people...but because they had the best tasting Cab Sauv and Red Bordeaux Blend we had the pleasure of trying. Dont miss it.

My wife and I attended the seminar tour, and it was just that. We learned more in 3 hours than we have learned in our lives. This experience puts you in a small group that tours the winery with the owner. Not many places do that! He teaches you the aspects of what makes a good wine and why that $50 bottle is priced the way it is. At the end of the tour is a tasting of 8-9 wines, in which he teaches you in detail why the wines taste the way they do. In addition, he also tells you how to properly pair items with food to make your food and wine taste at their best. If you thought you knew what to do before being taught here, you are likely mistaken or at least not fully aware. The wine itself is certainly delicious, maybe not the best we have had for the price, but close. This owner loves his craft so much that he works a regular job on top of his wine making to subsidize the vineyards, especially in tough times. His love for the craft shows in the wine and the learning experience of the tour. This is a must stop location for anyone visiting napa.

Outstanding tour! If you are looking to get drunk, this is NOT the winery or tour for you. If you are looking for a comprehensive, in depth and personal tour and discussion about wine from one of the most knowledgeable wine makers in Napa, call now. It was an absolute pleasure to spend 3 hours with owner and winemaker George Hendry and it was by far the best tour/education session and visit to a winery Ive ever had. I guarantee you wont be disappointed. Bonus - the tour fee is waived with equivalent purchase!

The winery tour is by far the best Ive ever had. They do almost everything from growing grapes to bottling, and the folks giving the tours are not hired help, they are the owners. The owners are scientists and engineers and can tell you everything from soil chemistry to the price of oak aging, etc. It was an eye-opening view into the world of wine. The tasting was great, as were their pairing suggestions. If you must do one tour of Napa, this is the one for the scientifically minded.

We didnt take the tour, but this was the most informative tasting we have ever attended. And it was fun. Wines were good and quite inexpensive. $18-$35 range. Very drinkable now. If you thought wine pairings with certain foods was by tradition, you will be amazed by the genetics and biochemistry involved. We learned a lot and enjoyed the lessons. Reservations are required and dont show up late.

The wine tour with the owner George is an amazing experience. He explains the winemaking process from growing of the grapes to the difference between screw tops vs. corks (and why certain wines are appropriate for each.) The tasting is must-do if you want to learn about wine and food pairing. George explains how the wines interact with different foods on your pallet. An education.

Fabulous tour. I learned more about winemaking and grape growing here than I have at any other winery. The tasting was extremely educational as well, and my wife and I learned what wines we truly like and why, as well as tips on tasting wines. Best thing is the cost of the tour goes towards your wine purchases there.

I love this winery. The owner of the winery led our tour. I highly recommend him and his knowledge of wines and the history lesson he can tell you. He reminds me of my farmer dad. Oh, and the wines are some of the best around and very reasonably priced for Napa!

Our first stop and it couldnt have been a better place to start. Our group learned so much in the tour and tasting and we have all been drinking wine for a while. The Zin was excellent and the whites were crisp. A great place to visit.

Exactly what you wanted from a tour in Napa Valley - get to see where its made, how its made, ask a thousand questions and taste some really good wine. Can even offset the cost of the tour with taking some of that wine home.

Like a college education in wine making, pairings and tastings by your sweet grandfather. The best ever!!! And the wines....oh, the wines!!
