We visited Andretti Winery on a 5 day vacation to Napa in early September 2009. The grounds were pretty which is the only positive thing I can say about this place. To start, they are one of the few wineries that still charges you a tasting fee no matter what you buy. From the moment we walked in the guys in the tasting room we’re friendly like the other wineries. The guy we dealt with wasn’t paying too much attention which should have been our first clue to not buy anything. They were doing a great case sale for $75 for a case plus shipping. We decided to purchase because the price was great. We weren’t very impressed with the wine, but thought we could fill our wine cellar with some inexpensive bottles. The guy gave me a form to fill out along and asked my husband to write our shipping address on another form so he could look up the shipping cost while I completed the order. On my order I marked that they needed to hold the wine until 11/1 to ship as we live in AZ where the temperature was over 115 degrees and the wine would spoil on a UPS truck in that heat. We discussed with the guy in the wine room and he said there was no problem holding the wine until November. We paid and were on our way (the guy never gave us a copy of the invoice or anything). A few days later I get a call from UPS that they have a delivery for us, and it was the Andretti Wine (it was 118 degrees out this day). We had the shipment reversed and called Andretti immediately. They said there were no orders to hold the wine and they were charging us another $35 for shipping on top of the $35 we already paid in shipping. We asked for a copy of the order and they sent us the sheet that the guy had my husband write the shipping address on. There was NOTHING else written on this page, no order, signature, date or anything. It didn’t even have the price of the wine correct, it said $25/bottle next to price. We called Andretti again and were told it would be fine and the wine would ship 11/2. After the rest of the cases we bought in Napa arrived in November we still hadn’t received our Andretti shipment. We called and they first said they had no record of an order from us and would call us back. After days of waiting we called again & were told they found the order (the one my husband put the shipping address on) and would only ship for another $35. Again we were told we’d receive a call back and after 2 days of no response we requested a full refund. We finally just got a refund and they held back our $35 in shipping. So now because of Andretti’s screw up we’ve paid $35 plus our tasting fees with nothing to show for it other than 2 months of hassle and dealing with rude people who can’t even return a call. I would seriously beware of buying wine from them. We purchased cases from over 5 other wineries that had way better wine and had a delightful experience with. I’m not sure why Andretti Winery doesn’t have their act together like the others.

The Andretti winery was the first winery we visited in Napa, and Im glad it got better from there. It wasnt bad, but it is incredibly touristy and doesnt have the small family owned vibe other area wineries have. Though it is in fact owned by Mario the race driver, they made it sound like he wasnt often there which is odd as in his hometown of Nazareth, PA, they make it sound like he is always out there. The grounds do a very good job of feeling like an Italian villa, and it is a very nice place to take in a tasting while sitting behind the stable house. We first took the tour which I would not suggest as it encompassed a 50-ft total area and somehow meant we couldnt use our BOGO tasting coupon. Our guide was nice but not personable and kept forgetting things. The staff we dealt with for the tasting was similarly unimpressive. I dont know if they were ignoring us on purpose to stay out of our way, or just simply ignoring us. We did enjoy taking our last glass out to the yard and basking in the sun. It wasnt terrible, but we did experience better wineries in just about every facet while in Napa.

Mobbed at lunch, like V.Sattuis deli and weekend BBQ, for catered prearranged meals. Bicycle groups, stretch limos, rental Mustang convertibles, big buses. Yet they maintain pro good cheer and PMA. Amazing, the Summer weekend crowds. Special shout out to Paul for being so friendly. Also BigGuy who does tasting after tasting, with saintly patience and good humor. And to the old tall jet pilot who moved 5 big round tables and chairs out on the patio, so my group could enjoy a typical warm sunny colorful Autumn day, and put them all away inside afterwards!! Jack, Doff, and Joe. Where do they find such happy helpful staff ?!

I highly recommend this winery. This place is so accommodating. Came here with a bachelorette party. We had made reservations, but they werent in the system when we arrived. However, they said they were happy to stay open 40 mins after they typically close so that we could sample their wine. Cabernet Sauvignon has a nice balance of plumby and dry. If you like Syrahs, it is worth trying! We did our wine tasting with Blaze, and had a blast. He has a dry sense of humor if you can tap into it. :)

Wines are decent but the service here is the worst in the valley. Our host was rude from the very start. When I mentioned we were Napa Neighbors (locals get a small discount through this program) he looked at my ID and saw that I lived on Howell Mtn. He then said that area isnt part of Napa (uh, excuse me?)and that he didnt like the program because all locals did was get drunk and not buy anything. Wow! I will never bring my out of town guests here again.

Beautiful grounds surrounded by vineyards. Andretti is an old house (updated, of course), with an Italian Villa feel, big enough to roam around and explore. Superb wine, even better people. Arrive before 10:30 a.m Monday thru Thursday and you will avoid the "bus crowds" these people are talking about, especially October to April. Easy, free parking, and the views of the eastern mountains are nice to gawk at while eating lunch.

I am happy I chose the wine tour that visited Andretti Winery! You walk in and immediately feel transcended to Italy! I only tried the reds but I loved every one I experienced! Also, John, our Barista was so entertaining, he had the whole group cracking up! I would definitely go back! We visited 4 wineries that day, even Castello Di Amarosa, but Andretti was my favorite! è stato perfetto Mario!

We were there the weekend before Memorial day. Lunch not being served so we tasted wines and some of their mustard. Our tasting gentleman was very nice took extra time to explain why their Moscato wine was so good. Thank you to all the staff

The wines were not bad and I found the staff to be friendly, but there are much better places to taste wine. If youre a racing fan, its probably a great choice. If youre a wine fan, not so much.
