I found out about the Annenberg Space For Photography (which opened up back in March of 2009) while doing a google search on any new museums in Los Angeles and this one popped up. I went to visit with my friend Anthony DeGoede back on Saturday, October 8, 2016 and we both really enjoyed the photography exhibits that we seen and during our visit we saw the featured one called "Identity" by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders which is comprised of 151 large-format photography of pioneers in historically marginalized communities and in his work he includes race, gender, class, sexuality and ethnicity here in the United States. This special exhibition includes: The Black List, The Latino List, The Womens List, The Out List and The Trans List. They were very amazing exhibits to view and they change 3-4 times per year. Virtual Reality Experience: I really enjoyed this exhibit as well and while I was there, I got to view the making of The Trans List by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders who had welcomed a camera crew into his studio to film an immersive virtual reality experience that is exclusive to this exhibit. The film allows visitors to observe the acclaimed photographers process as if they were in the room with him and his photo subjects. Simply Amazing! I just want to personally thank the Annenberg Space For Photography for putting on such a Wonderful, Educational and Inspiring Exhibition. I hope to visit you all again! Sincerely yours, Howard Paul Shore Anthony DeGoede Visitors And Special Guests /HPS

Wow. I really liked this place. I go to art museums in nearly every city in the world I visit but this has to be one of the best. Far from stuffy, this place makes you want to linger. Exquisite Islamic art, Art of the Pacific--and Picassos that will make you re-think the artist. There is a view of the Hollywood sign from one of the platforms and special exhibits worth the extra money. I especially liked one of the exhibits where there was no explanation next to the piece of art. You had to pick up a guide to read what you were seeing. Its counter-intuitive but it made you look closely at the art rather than gloss over the description. It is not so much just an art museum but rather a place that seems to integrate art into real life. How lucky LA is to have this gem!

What an absolutely gorgeous space. Ive had this place bookmarked for awhile, and finally got a chance to visit this past weekend when I realized it was the last week for the National Geographic exhibit. Its a MUST-SEE. Parking is on Constellation St and when validated on weekend its only $1! There was a small line to get into the exhibit but I didnt have to wait too long. We watched the documentary first, and the production value and message of the video was so moving that I was on the verge of tears the whole time. It was so touching! The photographs themselves were amazing as they werent confined in a frame but wallpapered on to the wall in a collage so you can get up close to them. I cant wait to go back again to visit another exhibit :D

You should definitely go to the Helmut Newton exhibition! Parking is $1 with validation and its the nicest photography space i have ever seen! ABOUT // They opened in 2009 and this is their 12th exhibition. It is its own satellite space on the mezzanine of the huge CAA skyscraper tower, and its designed to look like youre walking through the inside of a camera. Staff was super nice, and the promotional cards you can take with you are top notch printing quality. Amazing keepsakes! FEATURES // Audio guide, Introductory Film in their theater, movie screenings, and 3pm guided tours!

This was my first time here and I was impressed. The quality of work, the interactive stations for watching short reels, and even virtual reality were all awesome. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We didnt plan to visit, but we decided to go after we saw a sign advertising their Refugee show and this turned out to be my favorite activity. As a bonus, there is a quiet reading room with more than 50 photo books, from Steve McCurry to Robert Frank and others. Ill visit again the next time Im in LA.

This was a great space for photography exhibits. Its free, and the staff was very friendly. As of the time of this review, their "Identity" exhibit is on display. It features some wonderful portraiture of fascinating individuals from several minority cultures. Do be warned that the entire exhibit, while wonderfully photographed and capable of capturing the identity of its subjects quite well, is all portrait work, so if you are looking for more variety, plan for this to be a quick trip.

I really adored this photography museum. I saw the Lauren Greenfield exhibition, her photography showed the many faces of capitalism and the ultra rich in Los Angeles. The exhibition was informative, fascinating and touching. I found the exhibition quite large with a lot of information. If you have the chance to see the exhibition in two separate days, I believe you will be able to take in and appreciate much more. The entrance is free, so that should not stop you.

Un espacio que todo amante de la fotografía o todo aquel que quiera disfrutar de un buen momento de aprendizaje a través de la fotografía y que viva o este de paso por Los Angeles nunca debe perderse

I always have fun here! Saw a ballet performance at Nightlife yesterday, took a nice nap in the planetarium under the stars, yes I was totally lost at what the guy was talking about in there. Saw Mr. White alligator, swam with the fishes in the aquarium, well at least I pretended to. Had a weiner sausage and cider at the food cart. And did some arts and crafts. I love Nightlife at the Academy.

A must see in Los Angeles - - and its free!!! This is a multimedia photography museum and exhibit hall with themed exhibits which change every few months. Examples include world cultures, war, fashion, National Geographic, nature. Every exhibit I have seen there turned out to be fascinating, regardless of whether I had any prior interest in the topic.

Really good selection of photos. I like that they offer interactive and fun experiences in their exhibit to accompany the photos. They Havana Club was unique and the VR movie as well. Also, they had a Portos pop-up. On one of the photos a dude is playing DOTA 2 ♥️.

Visited this museum with my son-in-law. He had been here before but it was my first time. We had conversations about the exhibits, arguments about what we liked and dislike it was a good afternoon. It is worth your time to check this out.

A nice spot for some of the best photography in the world and the photographers put at the forefront of the gallery. Free admission, parking can be a challenge. But they validate parking at the door for you depending on where you park.

Absolutely amazing exhibit - spent a bit more time here than we anticipated (4 hours), but worth every minute. $3.50 validated parking weekdays and $1 validated parking on the weekends with a ticket!

Went for a very well-curated exhibit on underrepresented (black, women, trans) success stories. The video piece was the most insightful by far. Weird location for something so culturally rich!
