As a student, I never visited The Fowler, I didn’t even know its full function. I took it for granted like I am assuming many students, employees and campus visitors are doing this very second. The Fowler, first and foremost, is completely free. They do have a donation box for support, but you can certainly come in to explore any exhibit. The exhibits are always changing! A diverse collection of sculptures, painting, and other art pieces are the allure of the Fowler. The museum provides an exchange of cultures you may not be able to find at other museums. In my visit I was able to explore the Nkame exhibit featuring the Cuban printmaker Belkis Ayón whose work displayed Afro-Cuban myths and visual iconography. It was truly unique in that all her work was presented with subtle tones; white, black and grey. One of my favorite exhibits was the Intersections: World Arts, Local Lives. The multi-cultural objects were so detailed and exquisite that you couldn’t help but to admire its beauty. It was a treat in trying to guess where certain object where from, what country, what time period. Overall great place for exposure to different cultures and diverse forms of artistry.

This museum is a little gem tucked away in the central part of UCLAs campus. It is dedicated to non-European cultural artifacts, fine arts and history. Both a research museum and open to the public, there are always featured exhibitions. The few times Ive been there, Ive always found some interesting pieces and have been gifted a wealth of new information about various African, Asiatic, and indigenous American cultures. Its a pretty small museum and isnt that accessible or known to the public unfortunately but I recommend going to visit, particularly on a day where parking is not a pain.

Good on-campus museum with small private selection. The place is tiny, so variety is lacking and most of the art is not particularly interesting or historically significant. Still, entrance is free and the place is well-curated. Its worth a visit but I wouldnt go out of my way to check this place out. There are much better museums to visit, but its worth coming here if you happen to find yourself on the UCLA campus one day.

This is probably one of the biggest museums in Los Angeles with a cultural backgound focus. The museum hosts a wide variety of cultural events including samba and Brazilian dance, a few music concerts, and even a few poetry slams. The museum is free and it is a great place for an afternoon trip to spend a couple hours seeing other cultures- Asian, African, and Latin Americans art in action.

Exhibits are very rich in information through the lens of cultural anthropology. You will also see objects that are not easy to find in other museums. However, this place does need more space to house some permanent exhibitions of its impressive collections, although the constantly changing temporary exhibitions may be seen as its "feature".

The museum is consistently fascinating, their events for kids really fun, relaxing and enriching, and their little store is the perfect place to find really cool, pretty, unique gifts for many different types of people. Love it!

Inexpensive and large with lots of opportunity to step back outside and chill if youre getting tired of looking at rectangles on walls for hours. Some nice German Expressionist and symbolist holdings I wasnt expecting.
