NYE 2012--came here for the second seating. While my husband and I had several good experiences prior to this one, the NYE celebration was pretty bad, mainly because the service was terrible. First, they ran out of food (and the menu was pre fixe). Then we couldnt even get a server to take a drink order in a timely manner. Seated on the South Rail we could see the folks who paid more go through their (third) dinner course when we hadnt even gotten our first! Our salads, advertised as endive and apple, came out with romaine lettuce instead, and on hot, out-of-the-washer plates. Then my second course of grilled shrimp came out cold, with a grilled focaccia bread slice that was so cold and limp it was inedible. My neighbor, who ordered the same thing, got tuna instead of shrimp without being told prior that she had to take the tuna. My main course had cold sides. Oh, and they served food out of order, which made it very frustrating to get food while my neighbors who arrived earlier didnt. At least my husbands meal was good, but we and the many others paid a nice price for these tickets that included tax and gratuity. Lucky for the servers, because they didnt deserve a single cent of it, and neither did the kitchen. I dont recommend coming here for something with a pre fixe menu. Weve had good, if not excellent service outside of this, when we went to see the house band or other acts.

More specifically, something special and exciting has been unveiled in Little Italy downtown and word is spreading fast. The new jazz/supper club, Anthology, is not only visually beautiful, but brings a whole new level of sophistication to the San Diego music scene. The club is street level and all three interior levels enjoy exceptional views of the stage and a superior sound system that delivers consistent quality regardless of seat location (check out the seating chart). One evening I sat at the first table next to the stage and another time at the bar near the entrance. The sound was extraordinary both times without being too loud and distorted or diluted by distance. After several visits and introducing many friends to this new experience, this venue is an unqualified success and evokes memories of Chicago and New York City. Hard to believe you are still in San Diego, but that’s the best part. You are in San Diego, only now it includes a wonderful club on par with the best in the country. Check out the Anthology calendar for upcoming artists and buy your tickets online. You will not be disappointed. I promise.

We love this place. The Sunday brunch menu is great. I had the Rolled Omelette, and really enjoyed it. The waiter, Dajuan, did a great job. The live music was perfect: a guitar master named Bill who played our favorite music from the 70s through the 90s. He graciously played our request for Peace Train by Cat Stephens. The manager, Mark, came over and introduced himself, welcomed us, and invited us to come back (we will). To top it off, we got a 10% "first time visit" discount. Anthology is like a cross between House of Blues and the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Lots of parking available nearby. a few seconds ago · Like

The musicians we came to see were superb. The atmosphere was nice. BUT, the service was HORRIBLE. We ordered drinks before the show started, didnt get them for over 45 minutes. Ordered off the very expensive, somewhat limited menu. The pricey ceasar salad I ordered was the smallest Id ever seen. The portions were SMALL and very expensive. We rarely saw our server. It took FOREVER to get anything to the table in a timely matter. The Sausage plate was a grilled hot dog sliced down the middle served on saurkraut.....wow. Too bad, could be a nice place. But probably wouldnt go again.

I visited Anthology for the 23 October 2011 performance by Anna Nalick. Great service from the wait staff, great views of the stage from everywhere, roomy and airy yet cozy at the same time. Acoustics seemed to be excellent as well. I do see Anna Nalick on a regular basis, but this particular show, due to the character of the Anthology, stood out like no other. The only downside is the cost (my table cost $15 for cover plus $15 minimum for food), but it is too easy to spend even more for no food and lesser artists, so I am not complaining.

The atmosphere was really nice. The wine list was ridiculously overpriced! I think there were three wine bottles under sixty dollars and they were out of one of them. Our waitress was not very friendly. The food tasted good but the portions were insultingly small for the price. Seventeen dollars bought my wife four pieces of ravioli. Twenty seven dollars bought me about four ounces of fish on top of about five peas. We went home hungry and had to heat up leftovers from the night before. We will not be back.

went with friends to see Beatles Vs. Stones at Anthology. Bands were great even though we could not see them at all, got seats where we could only watch TVs. The food sucked. we got susage with mustard, it was $14, overcooked and chewy, I would of just sent it back but the guys at my table didnt want to, not sure I would make the drive (45 minutes) to go to this place again. Slow service.

I saw Dave Mason tonight 12-28-11 and Ive seen a lot of shows in a lot of places and I recommend Anthology, as it was the best place Ive been for a concert. Food and service were great, it seems a lot of the reviews say it is a little bit high priced, but I thought it was normal for a great place with good atmosphere. Excellent Job!

I am working in the same building as Anthology and got invited to a private concert of the Goo Goo Dolls. The sound is great and the place looks fancy. It is pretty small and I think that is what I like the most because it creates an intimate atmosphere with the artists. The food was also good.

This place is great for live music and dinner. There is no venue like this in San Diego. Great if you are a Jazz lover like me. I would definatley recommend, however the servers were a bit understaffed and therefore kind of slow. However, all in all a great place. My wife and I loved it.

This place is so different. We felt like we were in the days of old. The food was great and the service was outstanding. It is a little expensive but worth the experience.

Cool spot for a date, they play jazz music live a couple nights per week and there is tables on the 2nd and 3rd floors looking down at the stage. Different.

My boyfriend and I happened to stop by for dinner when they had a live band set up. It was amazing food and the music made it that much more fun.
