We booked our room directly with the Shore Break Hotel website, and when I read the reviews here, I became scared that it would be a mistake. Apparently, either the place is much different than it used to be, folks are mixing it up with another hotel, or something, because it was a very fine hotel. We stayed on a Sunday and Monday night, so the place wasnt exactly packed, but we found the rooms to be clean, comfortable, and quiet. The front desk was happy, courteous, and welcoming. The rooms were clean, small only by modern American standards, and decorated in a unique and modern style befitting the region. The beds were comfortable and generously covered. They originally booked us in an ADA room, and the shower tile was almost the same level as the rest of the floor...almost. The half-inch difference meant shower splash didnt run back toward the drain, flooding the entire bathroom floor almost to the carpet! We slogged through the cold water, contained it eventually with towels, and called the front desk. Heres where the hotel shined: when we called downstairs about it, they were very apologetic, and immediately came up to our room to take us around to other rooms we could move into. Since the first room they showed us had a step-over so the water wouldnt run out, we were happy, and they helped move us immediately. Everyone was happy, sincere, and helpful. Our new room had a terrace, and we invited friends up to the table for desserts and drinks from the lobby bar and had a nice evening outside our room. Even when we first arrived in the parking garage, before we ever reached the elevator from our car, we were greeted by a valet staff that helped us get a valet ticket and re-park our car in their section (if you take the car out the attached parking garage couple of times a day, it can cheaper than the standard garage rates to valet, and much more convenient). My wife and I travel very regularly for business and pleasure, and we certainly could not find any reason not to trust staying there again. We had a relaxing experience, despite the Great Flood, and since they are pet friendly, the dogs in the lobby added even more casual friendliness to the atmosphere. Just dont mix up the salt water taffy with the dog treats at the check-in counter... The room was expensive; we splurged because it was our wedding anniversary. That is the only drawback to staying there, but we definitely felt like we got what we paid for! The location cant be any more ideal for Huntington Beach.

Honestly – 1 star maybe Read this before booking this hotel! My wife and I stay here for a week near the end of May. We paid around $300.00 dollars a night for one King bed with ocean view which ended up not really worth because of all the noise/traffic from the 1North highway which is right in front of this hotel. Also we felt that the $25 a day resort fee along with $35 a night for Valet parking was outrages when your already paying 300.00 plus a night and then you don’t even get free Wi-Fi or a Continental breakfast. They due offer coffee and tea in morning but my wife said the coffee was horrible so I had to go out every morning to get her a good cup of java. The water pressure coming from the shower heads was very low, even after they changed the shower head. We ate breakfast one time in the hotel because it was comped and that was enough for us, just bad. One night when we returned to the hotel we decided to stop in bar for a few cocktails, I ordered a beer and my wife wanted a strawberry daiquiri, the bar tender tells us they don’t blender but he will do his best to mixed the drink, good grief at their prices can’t they buy a blender. On another night, at around 2 a.m. their fire alarms went off, which thankfully was a false alarm, but talk about getting your heart jolted and we never did fall back asleep after that. One day we decided to take their bikes out for a nice long ride. About 3 miles away the chain fell off my bike. After about 20 minutes i managed to get it back on and we headed back only to have it fall off again about a mile later. We returned the bikes and mention this to guy in charge of the bikes as well as the front desk and they didn’t even offer to comp/waive one of the daily resort fees. In general Hunting Beach has the worse service we ever seen and you can’t drink on the beach either, our suggestion skip them and go to Clearwater FL, you spend half the money and have a much better time!

Jederzeit wieder!!

Wonderful, quite staycation in October! I reserved a courtyard city view room, with a "queen" bed (felt more like a full bed) for the weekend of October 11th. My partner & I stayed to spend a wonderful birthday weekend & loved every minute of it. Upon making my reservation, I had asked the hotel staff to book me the most quite room possible since Im a light sleeper. Bam! Like that, they followed through. Front desk was super nice. Smooth check in and check out. The room was wonderful! Love the modern beach decor. Super cleaned, both the bathroom & sleeping area. The bed was super comfy & so were the bean bags! The balcony is nice but really overlooks a really run down antique shop, some new developed apartments & you get a small glimpse of the Pacific. I still loved the view especially when the marine layer hovered over the beach & PCH. We didnt eat at the restaurant but found ourselves eating out. Loved the hotel. Will be coming back!

Customer service was not good. Our pull out bed was full of crumbs, hair and all sorts of weird stuff. The hotel staff came and saw the disgusting status of the bed and said, "well there is not really anything that we can do as far as giving you another room." We were told this after they told us that they did have rooms available. We were going to have to pay for both rooms. This place could be incredible with the location and the rooms are nice, but it ruined our trip and we will not return. This is unfortunate because they could have just given us another room (this would have cost the hotel virtually nothing - possibly 20 minutes worth of a maids pay) and they would have benefited from our return. Good luck staying here. You will need it. PS - If you dont have to open the pull out bed, then you probably shouldnt.

Horrible stay!!! Bed bugs or fleas! this place is not for kids...sex toys are provided with the mini bar items on the top of the rooms dresser and there is a bar in lobby, which provides mass confusion in the lobby and a drunk man ran into my daughter and blamed it on her! Waited 20 minutes to check-in on a Thursday. the front desk receptionist takes cash he receives and holds it up to the light instead of doing it casually with a pen and says to me youd be surprised how much counterfeit bills we receive. It feels like a run down hotel in Miami beach! there was cops on streets arresting people in front of the hotel almost 24 hrs a day! Also a housekeeper barged in right when entered our room (we didnt have time to put up the sign) after check in without notice and i was just undressing.
