Im very disappointed with the lack of responsibility of this golf resort, last Sunday 7/16/17 about 2:50 pm while driving to work on Avila Drive going in direction to the port about 300 feet before the light a golf ball hit my windshield, not only I was in shock for the severity of the hit but besides cracking my windshield I almost crashed with the car in front of me, when I turned my head to see the golf course I saw three golf carts and a few people, I had to keep driving it was a lot of traffic and nowhere to park, minutes later I tried to talk to one of the clerks Tom who gave me the wrong around and I had to wait to speak to the manager Jay next Tuesday to see how he could fix my windshield, "If I put the claim to the insurance company they wont pay you" he said "also this happens many times and small claims wont make us pay" he argued, if this happens many times why you dont put a net I asked, this time was a windshield but could of been a person I said. He didnt want to listen to what I had to say, by his rules their customers are liable for their damages, I dont know anything about the golf course policies the only thing I know is that a golf ball coming from their property broke my windshield and they dont assume any responsibility or care for the inconvenient they caused me. What a shame.

A tale of two courses. Front 9 is hilly and greens are postage stamp-sized. Accuracy is a must. Back 9 is flat and kind of wet but much more forgiving. Pros: Laid back atmosphere. Friend has a heart issue and they didnt have a problem with us driving where normally it wouldnt be allowed once we told them. Greens are pretty good and consistent overall. The fairways I was on were decent but not fantastic. Cons: some tee boxes were in terrible shape and need complete overhaul. Greens on front almost too small (10 paces deep?). Biggest issue is the amount of blind shots especially on the front, and very poor descriptions as to what the hole is like. For a first time player I found myself driving up 300 yards from the tee box to find out what the hole was like. No map at the tee and the scorecard map is embarrassing, frankly. Holes 19/20 that ate used during events when other holes are shut down are laughable. Overall though it was green and pace was good. Ive only gone once and Id try another course again before going back. But if its your first time playing then its worth a shot for you.

This review was originally posted for the wrong golf course: San Luis Rey Downs in Bonsell, CA. Now Im moving the review to the proper course in Avila Beach. I played here in late June of 2014. Hadnt made this trip for many years, as I had been out of the state. The course had changed a bit, as the par 3 second hole was now relegated to a "secondary" role when they had an event that required parking on one of the fairways. This hole was always a killer for me as the green was treacherous, and it was a long hole, about 220 yards from the blues. The hole has been replaced with another par 3 of about 165 yards on the back side, which is just an average hole. The course is a challenging layout and the green fees are quite reasonable. If I had one suggestion for improvement on this course, it would be to trim that damn sycamore tree that sticks out on the left side of the par 4 dogleg 3rd hole. Its ridiculous having it there for ordinary golfers to contend with. Used to get me every time years ago, and it got me again this time. The only triple on my card.

Went to Boots on the Beach and was pretty disapointed. The venue was to small for the amount of people that attended. Unless you paid for center seating you could barely see the stage. And they were selling 24oz beers for $12!! I expect to get gouged at the beer booth, but thats just over the top. You might as well sit at the lagoon with an ice chest. Pozo is way better!!!!!

Cant say anything about the rest of this "resort", but the golf course is a joke. The fairways ere overgrown and muddy. The greens were not kept up. Before our round we wanted to hit some balls on the range and they said they were out of golf balls!! And the charge..$82.00 for a midweek round of golf. Ripoff of the year. Dont bother stopping here for golf.

Very nice golf course considering the location. The back nine is what you see from the road, and it doesnt do the course justice. The front 9 that goes back up into hills is much nicer and laid out very well with lots of elevation change. It needs better grounds keeping, but its location is amazing, and its a good price compared to courses on the coast.

This place is absolutely beautiful. I went to this venue for a concert and was impressed with everything. The event staff were all very helpful and seemed genuinely happy to answer your questions. I cant wait to go by and see another concert and I have to go back because I want to play a round of golf on this course.

Beautiful but tricky. Its a treat but the first couple times out, learn and dont let yourself we r frustrated. I talked to the locals but I still felt like I lost good shots. Front and back play like Two different courses. Front is especially tricky. Know where to aim and where to miss. Definitely going back, 100%.

Went to a family movie night here, was a ton of fun. Outdoor activities, beautiful beach view and an inflatable movie screen to watch Jungle Book. Only reason Im deducting one star is there were some kids being aggressive/destructive without parent intervention.

One of the most beautiful non-private golf courses Ive played at so far. Long driving holes with some challenges, amazing scenery with green luscious mountains surrounding the course, & gracious wildlife from time to time.

Great Course. Very good greens and a cool layout. Pleasant staff. Good value for $$. Played day after Thanksgiving which was likely a mistake. 6+ hours. Would like to play it again during a "normal" weekday.

Great course, played many times. My complaint is with Golf 18. No where do they tell you the fee is for walking. And there is no phone number to call for that info. Have to add $20 for the cart.

We had a great time listening to live music at Mulligans. Large grassy area for kids to run around while we ate on the patio.
