What I liked best: The fireworks show after the game is amazingly spectacular and long, synchronized perfectly to an appropriately themed music mix. Also provides a vast variety of foods and places to eat. Why I didnt give 5 stars: All of the food is very overpriced, which is unnecessary because fans are stadium captives for about 6 hours, there are thousands of people patronizing, and most food items are standard fare; only some foods are specialty or novel. The house menu for box suites is pretty much standard fare with average taste (do not order french onion dip; it didnt taste like it should two times, even according to others I was with, and it is not appetizing at all). However, their vietnamese chicken salad is beyond delicious, fresh, and very healthy...I highly suggest! TIP: Come prepared to sneak out any leftovers you want to keep before you leave, because at least for the box suites catering, they dont allow you to take your paid-for, over-priced, untouched food home with you. I assume its because they consider themselves a "venue" they state the reason to be for health safety, as if were going to eat food that has spoiled, get sick, and blame them for it. We all know that no other restaurant has this policy. Their food is too expensive to leave behind, and suites have refrigerators and ice trays where its kept, so Im cautioned to think that they may be RECYCLING our uneaten food to others the next day, or the kitchen staff take it home for themselves. Bottom line: If a place wants to have a policy such as this, then they should refund the untouched portions of the catering foods to the client, or not charge so much, or increment the amounts of a menu item served based on need! TIP: Pay for close parking which also allows you prompt exiting, otherwise youll be idling and minding the brakes for up to an hour, unless you plan to hang out inside the stadium until the Exodus is ending.

Fun times. Parking was 10 bucks, or 20 bucks for preferred. Game tickets are pretty pricy, and its their own lot, so charging for parking is kinda crappy, but, what can you do. The stadium is pretty nice. But, when you first walk up, you are houded by people wanting donations, and time shares, and what not. Kind of annoying. So, they check inside your purses, and you go through a medtal detector, give your tickets, and you are finally in. There are ramps to get to the upper levels. And escalators. The ushers are less than helpful. I spilled a full soda, and it went all over the walkway. We told the usher, and he stood there confused as to what to do. Said, ok, Ill find someone to take care of it, but I cant leave this post. (Why dont they have a way to communicate???) My husband ended up going to find someone. 15 minutes later, someone finally came. By now, soda is all over the place. 20 minutes after someone cleaned it, that same usher came over, and said he would go get someone. Were like, ya, um, its done. Anyway, they had vendors selling dippin dots, hot dogs, pizza, churros, popcorn, peanuts, ice cream, cotton candy, and lemonade. Or you can get nachos in a baseball hat at a concession stand. As well as alcohol. But, youre gonna pay. Lol. An 8 oz cocktail is like 12 bucks. Hot dog was 4.75. Dippin dots were 8.50. Pretty pricy. We had fun. Game started about 6:05 and after Saturday night fireworks, we got out of there about 10:30. Fun times. Too expensive to do often, but its a nice once in awhile treat.

Los Angeles Rams, California Sun football, Freedom Bowl, and great concerts like Pink Floyd, Yes, Electric Light Orchestra - this place has it all! On a weeknight, for about $10 its possible to sit behind home plate and watch Nolan Ryans blistering fastball up close. Or witness Bert Blyleven no-hit the Angels. Or maybe youll see the last amazing feat of a real hero like Don Sutton pitching his 300th win. Or heck, for a little fun get the $2 cheap tickets in right field and throw quarters to Reggie Jackson - he really gets into it. But dont be too late. If the outside ticket window closes theyll make you go inside and point you towards the admin offices for you to buy your ticket. (Never did find that office. Uh-oh!) Dont spend too much on your ticket though - youll find the stadium virtually empty with hundreds of empty top choice seats. And theres nothing like watching a California Angels game on a warm summer night as the sweet fragrance of orange blossoms comes riding in through the open stadium outfield riding upon the whistle of that lonely Amtrak as it interrupts the tranquil night. The organist mimics the sound of the train whistle with his organ and we slink further back into our seats to relax and watch the passing train shrinking; shrinking until out of sight. Spend enough time there and with the right attitude you too might take away some lovely memories to reminisce over.

The game was good, and the staff in the stadium were generally helpful. Some graciuosly allowed us and other wheelchair folks to use the freight elevator, as there was a very long line at the regular one. However, handicapped parking here is a real mess and needs to be improved. Better coordination is needed. More handicapped spaces in each section are needed. All handicapped spaces in our section were full at 6pm when we got there. We wonder how early we would need to get to the stadium to get a handicapped space. We got different instructions from each of the 5 or 6 different lot attendants we spoke with as we were looking for handicapped parking near our stadium section. One of the attendants told me to unload my disabled brother in the middle of a junction with crosstraffic. When I asked if I could unload him in his wheelchair under the big hat in front of the stadium, he said no, because the lot we would need to get into was a "special lot we had to pay $20" in order to access. RIDICULOUS. We were then told by a different lot attendant we could go in to that same lot with no mention of a charge; of course it was still a bit of a trek to the stadium. Alot of confusion, no signage, and conflicting info made parking a very frustrating experience.

There are a lot of rave reviews, including ones indicating that this is the best ballpark in the country. For those, like me, who have traveled the entire country touring and attending games at ballparks (Jays, Indians, Orioles, Rays, Phillies, Twins, Diamondbacks, Giants, As, Pirates, Tigers, Reds, Rockies, Padres, Angels, Mariners), I/we know this not to be true. The area that this park excells in is AFFORDABLE seating. You can have a viewbox behind 3rd base for as low as $11 on off-peak times. Thats as much as 50-60% lower than many other clubs. Downsides include: a rather cartooney PA announcer (its a family-oriented experience), slightly-less-than knowledgable fan base (again, family experience and a lot of children), and worse, to get the families/kids rowdy/loud, it becomes sensory overload. CODE RED CODE RED RALLY MONKEY. All and all, its a decent ballpark. Truthfully, its average. I think its neat how the refurbishment process took hold. Its technically the 4th oldest park in baseball, but it doesnt come anywhere NEAR the fan experience you get in other parks, and visually, its just not close to many of the aforementioned parks.
