If you go to Montgomery, Alabama and do not stop here you are denying yourself the chance to experience American History. The two ladies who help run the museum side of the Church, epitomize Southern Hospitality. I was greeted with a hug from each and their knowledge of Dr. King and the Church was deep. This Church is an absolute much visit, I found myself moved by the simplistic beauty of the Church and personally impacted by being able to touch the lectures Dr. King used and humbled to stand in his office. I recommend visiting the Church and the Civil Rights Memorial in an afternoon. You can see the Church thoroughly in 90 minutes or less but you better be sure to give those ladies a hug when you come in and before you leave they were a delight to converse with. Admission is free but they run on sales from their gift shop and donations.

Perfect timing! We stopped by while we were downtown and were fortunate enough to run into Ms. Wanda who saw us outside and encouraged us to get a tour with Ms. Muhammed and a joint tour of the parsonage just down the street. Inside you can tour Dr. Kings office, a pulpit used by Dr. King and the actor who played him in Selma (for the movie buffs, you can see a special note left there by David Oyelowo), & a beautiful mural. When we went to the parsonage we were fortunate enough to run into Ms. Wanda again at a community picnic & Easter egg hunt and got to chat with her about connecting with the local community and trying to increase visitors at their church. If you get a chance, swing by and meet the loveliest people at the Dexter Ave King Memorial Baptist Church and get a tour of a unique piece of Civil Rights history.

We had a party of seven for the tour with Wanda and had a fantastic time. Wanda engaged with everyone in our group - all the way from our 8 year old to my parents. I would also recommend visiting this church for worship - we went for Easter which was great. The congregation was very warm and welcoming and the service was impassioned and engaging. My mother is a retired minister (and not Baptist) and she was welcomed to come up front and participate in the service. The minister told us we were all associate members and we certainly felt that way, well go back next time through Montgomery.

My Family had a wonderful visit today thanks to Ms. Wanda. She was very informative and really took her time to tell us about all the amazing stories about the Church and Rev. King. We came close to closing time but She still accommodated us and We had a Great time chatting with Her specially our 8yr. Old Son. She made the trip more special and memorable to us. This is definitely a not to miss spot if you are visiting Montgomery and wants to learn more about the Civil Rights History.

Had a wonderful experience in Montgomery, AL with such a rich history in pioneering, Civil War, and civil rights. Unlike New Orleans, where longstanding statues of Civil War and CSA leaders are being removed under the auspices of "disrespect", Montgomery proudly displays its American Heritage and revels in its place in the progress of civil rights.

This was one of the best places in Alabama to visit. Wanda not only was a great tour guide but she is also truly anointed by God. If you ever go to Montgomery Alabama this is a must stop by location. You will not be disappointed. Wanda has a lot of energy and truly loves what she does.

It was a surreal experience seeing where Dr. King preached. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and she was very interactive with the guests. This is a must-see if you are interested in such a pivotal point in history.
