For some reason I gave this park another chance after a terrible first experience...2nd time was bad enough to make a review. 1st bad time: $20 per person, we drove two hours to come here..--waited 30mins for a single cheese burger....the restaurant on the west end had no one over the age 16 working in it. It was nuts. So unorganized. -- No shirts are allowed on anything in the entire park!! They are demanding little children and adults to take off shirts even if its a swim shirt. --they have NO smoking areas..if you smoke you are walking to your car every single time you want to smoke.. -- the body slides are extremely painful on your back. Its unbelievable how painful it is to ride a body slide! I dont know what the deal is but where the slide sections are connected its like getting hit with a whip each section. -worst of all!!! They closed EVERYTHING for 4 hours because of rain 25 miles away!!! For those three hours not a cloud in sight near point mallard. You were not even allowed to sit on the chairs in the park!!!! People where raging!! 2nd time we figured at least give it one more try. No rain in sight in the radar...should be good. -paid $10 on half price day. -slides still just as painful. - employees still harassing everyone wearing a shirt..I asked for an explanation from a life guard I was told shirts can clog the water pumps....so instead of wearing the shirt they make you go down the slide holding a shirt....how is that less likely to go into a water pump??? Sure enough at 12PM, not a cloud in site, nothing on the radar!, "all pools closed because of lighting detected"..including all chairs... WTF!!!! I think they are literally just forcing people to eat at the crazy restaurants in the park. So many patrons were mad. --After three hours of clear skys A riot basically formed at the main office. The management stated that they have a 25 miles policy that if any lighting is detected everthing thing is closed. WTF!!?!?! This place is nuts...you wont find a employee over the age 18...DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!

Terrible customer service. I usually visit this park every summer for last 5 years and this past weekend (1/3/16) was by far worst experience. My cousin came to visit from Michigan and I wanted to show him a good time here in Alabama. We came to the park and first thing at the door workers are just not friendly, food service workers were not friendly, i had to ask if the worker at the food court stand if she was having a good day because attitude was all over her face. &Im Sorry if im paying 100 dollars + then there is a level of service i do expect. My biggest complaint is the life guards. I dont know what their protocol is exactly, but my cousin almost drowned in the wave pool. He can swim but he and my youngest brother got into a accident with their float in the eight ft. as my cousin was trying to help my brother ,his float got too far and his arm was hurt and so the waves were tiring him. He waves to the life guard for help and she just STARES. and people around him clearly can see hes needing help. So then my cousin struggles to the wall while still waving for help and she screams "you cant touch the wall" and hes like "can you PLEASE help me". Now if he had of drowned ,they clearly could of not prevented it because something is off on protocol. Thanks to those other swimmers he was able to make it back to 3ft. I have never experienced this much disappointment at this park but because of this i will certainly NOT return. And i will share this to everyone who visits Decatur. I did complain to the office and all i got was "sorry about that ".... Im Sorry i just spent over 100 here at this park with only 2 1/2 -close to three hours of being able to utilize the park due to it closing down because of "lightening in the area ,closing for our safety" we deserved a little better than "sorry about that"...

My husband and I chose Point Mallard as our last big adventure before our big kids start back to school. We took our 8, 6, and 4 year olds. They really enjoyed it! The wave pool was a big hit, as well as the lazy river. My kids werent ready to take on any of the 4 water slides they offered (only the 4 year old was brave enough to try, yet she was too short to ride!), but maybe next year? The kiddie area was very entertaining for my 4 year old, even the 6 and 8 year old played there some as well. They would not allow my 4 year old to use the diving boards because she was wearing a puddle jumper. We didnt initially know this rule, so she got to jump once- and loved it! I wish she had been allowed to use the diving boards. That was pretty much the only negative for our trip. Over-all, it was great! I really appreciate the 1/2 price days too! We are a 1 income family of 6, so we have to find affordable adventures! It was definitely worth $35 for us. We chose to pack our lunch and just ate at our van in the parking lot, as they dont allow outside food in. Though there was a table outside the park we couldve used. The food inside the park seemed moderately priced ($7 -$9 for a combo meal, maybe?) oh, and there are 2 ends of the park that are approximately 1/4 from each other. If you have small children, I would recommend a stroller or wagon. I wound up carrying my 4 year old on several occasions. Though I think our 16 month old wouldve enjoyed the kiddie area, especially the swings, we let her stay home with grandma and get her nap in. Definitely fun things to do for toddlers though!

1st of all, be prepared for strict enforcement of unwritten rules and policies by people that dont understand why they are rules. Such as no shirts on any rides or diving boards (guess they would rather have sunburns and skin cancer in this part of the country). 2nd, dont bring a snorkel mask, but apparently swim goggles are ok. I suggest going in the east entrance and getting a chair in the shade early (like when they open). Food is reasonably priced, $5 for a slice of pizza and drink. We brought our picnic lunch and left the park for a lot 45 minutes and ate in one of the many ramadas in the area. Do the slide rides early in the day, lines build up in the afternoon. If you dont want to wait for a single rider tube on the tube slides rent a clear tube in th morning. And bring your own tube or rent one for the wave pool. Really need a tube for lazy river, tube slides, and wave pool. Saw 2 guards go in to help people that couldnt swim well. It would be better off if they werent as concerned with ignorant policies and were able to focus on safety instead. (Operators of Point Mallard-review your policies by looking at what other water parks across the country have written in stone. Might be an eye opener to you! Oh, and your lifeguards dont get paid enough for saving your guests butts so often!!!)
