As a former manager, the staff is wonderful except the boss, repairman, and old GM. Dont support this theater. The boss is always watching cameras to tell the mangers what the employees are doing wrong (sometimes up to 20 calls in an hour). Theaters smell, recently there was a gas leak that instead of being properly fixed was just "aired out" while customers were in the theater breathing that stuff in. ive had people complain about things for weeks before getting fixed. the people higher up are all two faced, having lied to managers about pay raises and benefits to get them to stay before firing them, as well as having the repair guy spy on managers to let the boss know what theyre doing wrong. The ushers and concessionists are great, only trying to make some money, but now that everyone who i worked with has quit because of how evil this place is, dont even bother. carmikes only a bit more expensive.

Even though parking is a little tight and limited, theres plenty of places and a whole mall parking lot that isnt too far of a walk right next door. Theater is small but nice, staff is nice and even the younger workers seem a lot more mature than those at larger cinemas- and seem to really care about their job and where they work. Yes, it can get a little messy inside, but its not any worse than ANY other theater Ive been to, and its spotless if you come to the first showing of the day. Above all, the sound and seating is awesome! Even if people are being rude by talking non-stop, you can hear and enjoy the movie youre watching. Never had a problem, but I know if I did, it would be solved- I always see a manager walking around in the lobby and checking on things, instead of sitting back in his/her office..

I worked at Shady Brook as a concessionists I loved everyone there until Vince brought in the Connie Poling "the new gm" that place went down hill fast. I came in to work basically on my tip toes because I never knew what was going to happen. I had no job security whatsoever. She was very sneaky, just like Vince. She went behind everyone back and hired a whole new crew. They also sit at their houses and watch you on camera 24/7. Vince would get mad if the managers wouldnt answer the phone even if they were extremely busy....if you are looking for a job do NOT go there. Turn around and run. Theater is also very outdated and smells. Maybe if he wasnt so focused on the camera he couldnt actually fix the theater up. The only new things in that theater are the movies. Go to Carmike.

The theater is Continually updating everything; maintaining low prices and excellent customer service; lots of great community activities held here and VERY kid friendly! Voted MOST FAVORITE PLACE FOR KIDS several years in a row! Birthday and private parties/FREE summer movies/contests and prizes/gift and LOYALTY REWARD CARDS, etc. You will see old bad reviews from old BAD employees- we have great new staff and a long line of people now wanting to work at Shady Brook Cinemas; new pay rates and regular pay raises as well as employee bonuses! Our goal is to grow with the community and be the best hometown theater in Middle Tennessee! Watch for all the great new things coming from this theater in the near future!

Its an older theater and a touch limited by that. It does have 3D showings, but theyre limited to new releases and only at certain times of the day. Some screening rooms are better than others. Some are nice, clean and in good repair, others look like they went through a war and smell worse than a 13 year olds gym shoe after two days in a car at the height of summer. The staff is acceptably polite and skilled given their age range (most seem to be mid to late teens), but dont expect slavish devotion simply because you decided to grace them with your presence. All in all its worth it if you see a standard film (i.e. not 3D) at matinee times, otherwise youre probably better off running to Franklin or Spring Hill.

The staff are wonderful, courteous, and created a very welcoming family oriented environment for the customers. However, the owner doesnt care about the employees, nor does he care when racial slurs are being thrown at his employees. The owner also required management to purposely raise temperatures in the auditoriums to save money, and to encourage customers to purchase concession items to cool themselves. The popcorn is not fresh unless you see it popped in front of you BEWARE---It is stored in bags for days on end and then reheated in warmers. Please do not support this theater. Columbia and its community deserve better, and its small businesses entrusted to people with integrity.

Not a pleasant experience at all. The popcorn was bad and very bland. Its the second time in a row Ive been there and there has been something very wrong with the butter. There will not be a third time. The theater itself was hot and very stuffy. The most interesting part, was the bathroom. The stall door in the mens bathroom, looked like someone had been locked in the stall, and was trying to punch their way out. There were five or six holes in the door, where someone had punched it. In a couple of spots, you could actually see through the hole. So on top of not being private at all, it looked like something out of Hostel.

Love this place, little older seating and decor but always friendly, nice and clean. Plenty of walking room between your seat and row in front of you, so someone can get by without climbing on you. They even play FREE movies for kids/families during specific week days! What a deal for families trying to make ends meet. This alone gives me hope that there are still good business people out there that care and its not always about making a profit... Support this place so they can continue to do good deeds, because in reality they have to make ends meet too.

The theater refused to let me and my kids watch a movie tonight bc apparently my 10 and 6 yr olds were too young didnt matter that Im their mother and was with them or that we have all been to see movies of the same caliber there before or that we had been looking forward to it for a month. They made both of my kids cry and me look like a bad guy totally ruined our family date night! Its ok though this mommy recovered date night and we rented a movie and bought popcorn and snacks for home!

This is the closest theater to my house and if they are playing something I want to see I will definitely choose it over the bigger more expensive movieplexes. We usually go for "happy hour" between 4 and 6 when the price is only 5.25 each. The concessions arent any cheaper than the big places but I dont buy snacks at the movie so that doesnt bother me. The theaters are clean and I havent had any problems with the temperature or the sound liek other reviews have said.

Rude service... Left halfway through movie... Cinema let a group of 5 in 15 minutes after the movie started. They wouldnt stop talking then their phone was ringing. Complained to employees. The employees became defensive. They said if people are being disruptive it is the customers job to come and tell them, they dont monitor the theaters. But yet 3 of them were just standing behind counter talking. I will go to Spring Hill for now on.
