DWAN golf course is the perfect course for the golfer where time is scarce yet quality is important. Because of the speed of play, they ask that you keep up with the group ahead. The course is long enough to use every club in the bag yet short enough where a guy or gal can get in 9 holes in the AM before work and not be tired out - in fact, even more energized to hit the day head on! The Ladies love DWAN! ( I think the course Pro does lesson - contact the course if you want any info) Do not be mistaken, the course is no push-over but there are more "challenging" courses if more "challenging" is what you are looking for. As for the shape of the course well, you will not be let down. DWAN is in impeccable shape. The grounds crew really take pride in their work - and it shows. From the fairways that are cut/groomed daily to the greens that are kept clean & hole placement challenging (some say it is where the course makes up for the shorter yardage), DWAN delivers. Lastly, the staff at DWAN are neighborly and knowledgeable and are sure to see you get your moneys worth and still show their pride for this kinda hidden gem of a course. The fees are very reasonable and that - and what is described above - make getting on the course.....well...tough as there are a lot of "patrons" who have been playing DWAN for many a many years and well, have their set tee times - ya need to have 4 patrons to book out to 1 week in advance, 3 for 6 days etc. however, in the 20+ years Ive been playing DWAN, I do not think I (and maybe 1 Bud) have ever waited more than a couple groups to tee off before I/we was able to "get on" as the Starter (whos been there forever!) Is a fair shooter and tries to get everyone on (as time is important/scarce to most that play DWAN). DWAN is a great choice to start your season, to get back into golf or to hold your company golf outing. During the winter, the course is open for breakfast and lunch and is a great place to meet, play cards or kabitz w/your Buds - the breakfast is just as great as home cooking! Well what more can I say except, hope to see ya at the course! Doug G

Course was in good shape. Ladys in the clubhouse were nice. The range master was a total dink to us and questioned what we were doing starting the back 9? We told him he paid for 18 holes. He then proceeded to tell us they were closed and asked for our receipts. He let us continue on the back nine while he drove around and watched us golf. After we got to hole 15, he had one of the women from the clubhouse come and tell us we were moving too slow and we had been golfing for too long! She said we had been golfing for 5 hours and the course is only slated to take 3 hours and twenty minutes. I asked what time it was and he had been on the course exactly 3 hours and twenty minutes. We tried to explain we had to wait 5 to ten minutes the first 9 holes and there was nothing we couldve done to golf any faster. She told us to hurry it up and left. After we hurriedly finished, the range master has the audacity to tell us we really spead through the last 9! Well yes we did after there wasnt anyone in front of us and the also the nice combination of him acting like a vulture and making the ladies from the clubhouse interrupt our hole and tell us to hurry it up! This is the most unprofessional behavior Ive ever come across while golfing and it ruined my experience! Dont bother booking the last tee time youll be rushed off the course!!!

The course is actually decent, but the guy in the clubhouse is a jackass. He was literally standing outside the clubhouse with his hands on his hip telling us to hurry up as we came down the 9th fairway. After we finished he complained about how slow we were. We werent slow, we played 18 holes, but the dumb prick thought we just finished 9. It was only 8:30 and their last tee time is 6:30, so I dont know what his problem was. Someone needs to tell this guy that people dont care if hes in a hurry to get home. If its still light out, we can continue playing. You can see all of the complaints, Hes a city worker that doesnt care about customer service. City of Bloomington needs to let him go. I had a fun night golfing, but will never be back

I played this course on Saturday 5/1/10. If you want to play a liesure round of golf, do not go to this place. The old jackass of a course ranger literally hounds golfers all day, monitoring your pace. And do not even think about stopping in the clubhouse between the ninth and tenth to get a refreshment. HE CHASED US OUT and told us to get out on the tenth tee because there was a group behind us. Maybe we wouldnt have had to stop if they had a beverage cart on the course?? We had groups in front of AND behind us ALL morning, and he still felt the need to STOP OUR PLAY and tell us that WE WERE SLOWING THINGS DOWN! Go somewhere else unless you love playing under pressure.

We went golfing today for my boyfriends birthday. This was a horrible golfing experience. We were rushed through the course, yelled at for not going fast enough, even though we hadnt even started. When asked for our money back, it was turned into a big hassle. The manager told the employee to "give us our money back and get them out of here." We felt like the staff was very judgmental and rude towards younger players who werent pros, but just out for a good time. The service here is absolutely terrible, they are rude and disrespectful. If you want to have a good time golfing, dont go to Dwan golf course. They treat their customers poorly.

Although a bit shorter than most 18 hole courses Dwan is always in good condition. What it lacks in total yards is made up for with some holes requiring more skill than just long drives. Greens speed is average to a bit slow as the day goes on. Speed of play can be a headache at times but no more so than at many other courses. The city really does a nice job of maintaining the course. Only thing keeping it from 4 stars would be the distance. For me, not an issue.
