I had the opportunity to taste through the offerings at MLW&CH. Their cider is a standout, crisp, lightly carbonated, not overly sweet or tart, a very well balanced, light colored, sparkling cider. Im not a fan of sweet wines, but I did enjoy many of the offerings at Maple Lawn. Their fruit wines are all fruit, as opposed to many wines made in the area which are fruit flavored grape wine blends. In some cases this is advantageous, in others the fruit alone lacks the complexity to make an enjoyable experience. My least favorite is the blueberry, the fruit is very forward and reminds of blueberry syrup or jam. It is tasty certainly, but would probably be best at home mixed in a sangria or spritzer. The peach is good, and manages to pull some impressively complex flavors especially considering it is all fruit. I thought the apple wine was very good, great for fall, but Id still rather have cider. The must try from Maple Lawn is certainly the sour cherry. Mixed in a slushie, a spritzer, or straight chilled this is a cherry fiends dream. Nothing like it to be found from a winery that flavors grapes with cherry, it is something different entirely. Certainly the best option for the "not sweet" wine drinker (although it may still be too sweet for some). Maple Lawn is experiencing growth, and I believe on the right track to become a popular place to enjoy a sunset, a cider, and maybe some ice cream after a long Southern York County summer day.

Good wine, made from fruit grown on their farm. All of the styles are sweet except for the cider which is fairly dry (but theres an "apple wine" which is sweet). They said that all of the wines are made from just one fruit (so the blueberry wine is all blueberries and the cherry wine is just cherries). I liked the cherry and blueberry wines because they were unusual. The cherry was a lot better than expected, with no "cough syrup flavor" at all. My girlfriend really liked the peach. Another person was doing a tasting at the same time as us and didnt like that they were all sweet, so if sweet wine isnt your style, you wont like this place.

The winery store front is a beautiful space next to their farm market. Their fruit wines are made without grapes. The apple and Peach wines are made with fruit that they grow on site. The apple is the sweetest and most delicious. I also enjoy the peach, which is drier. Their blueberry wine has a sweet beginning and a tart finish. I am not a cherry fan in general so I should not comment on that wine.
