I found this when I was skimming Groupon for things to do in the Williamsburg area. My boyfriend and I really enjoy honey and I have recently been turned into mead so we thought it would be a fun time. We were right! One of the owners did our honey tasting and he was exceedingly knowledgeable and deftly answered any and all questions. The honeys we tasted were delightful! We bought a mead and two jars of honey that I know I will covet until they are gone and then crave! Highly recommend going with a friend or significant other. Be ready to expand your view of honey and mead.

This meadery is conveniently located right off of Route 60 in Williamsburg. I attended a tasting when they first opened and purchased both mead and a honey guide as Christmas gifts in 2015. The meadery has since expanded into an adjacent space and I purchased more mead varieties as Christmas gifts in 2016. My favorite mead offering is "Dream by the Fire." Its great at room temperature or gently warmed on the stovetop and served with a cinnamon stick. The staff are friendly and helpful if you arent sure which variety might be the best pick for a special someone.

Visited the SIlver Hand Meadery on New Years Day and it was a really fun experience. The honey tasting was very informative, and the guide that provided our tasting is clearly passionate about his craft! This is a great experience for anyone that is interested in learning more about Mead, Honey, or Honeybees. You will walk away with a great understanding of the honey-harvesting process, as well as the way that a colony of bees works! I have since been back two times to purchase additional local honey.

We visited Silver Hand Meadery based on a Groupon that we purchased. We live in Great Bridge...so it was a bit of a drive to visit the shop. However, we were very pleased with the tour/information class that we received when we arrived. It was fun to taste the different varieties of honey, as well as the different flavors of mead. We purchased a few items before we left. We would visit more often if it were not for the drive. If you live closer to Williamsburg, we highly recommend this shop!

Mead wine (beer) is another of the many wonderful reasons Williamsburg is such a unique area. Silver Hand Meadery isnt in the best location, being at the end of a rather non-descript strip mall but once at their shop you are often welcomed by the owner or his wife. Mead samplings are reasonably priced and they are all delicious. There is no question that honey is involved in the process! Expansion to a nicer location would help this delightful business "blossom"!

Been to a lot of breweries before, never a meadery, especially in my own backyard. Saw the Mead Up event and had to check it out. Didnt disappoint! I was able to get a flight and try their award winning meads. Loved the blueberry and French style. Its a big deal since they can only do that 8 times a year. Local made honey too! Cant wait to go back. Part of the Williamsburg craft tour along with Aleworks and Va Beer Co.

Walk through the front door and youll enter a family friendly pub reminiscent of a small town microbrewery. At once, you are greeted by the friendly and personable staff who are all knowledgable about honey and meads. The honey tastings are relaxed, informative and delicious. Pity you cannot order mead by the glass, but well worth the time and reasonable expense, learning about this ancient and storied beverage.

Silver Hand is bringing back a crafted beverage that carries with it so much history and legend. The concept of their product packaging and how it ties to music couldnt be more appropriate for a drink that is steeped in a rich history of poetry and storytelling. And to top it off, their mead is delicious in both hot and cold weather. I highly recommend it, especially SCARBOROUGH FAIR and TERRES BRÛLÉES.

We went during our honeymoon last year, and absolutely loved it. The staff is super friendly, and the dude who ran the tasting was top notch. He was extremely knowledgeable about bees, honey, mead, wine, pretty much anything you threw at him. It was super cheap and great fun. Were coming back to the area this summer, and well be sure to hit this place again!

The extremely knowledgeable staff will help you understand what mead is and the base ingredient, honey, with guided tastings that are both fun and enlightening. There is also a well stocked retail area where you can take home your favorites from semi-sweet traditional meads to complex, creative bottles that can go with a variety of situations and meals.

Very interesting place. We went there on a whim and thoroughly enjoyed the presentation about honey, bees and the varieties. Comfortable setting and what we learned about honey made us avid honey lovers. We left with a few bottles of wine as well which have since been consumed to our delight. I (we) are planning on making another visit this summer.

We live in Midlothian, but their honey is so exceptional we make the drive to Williamsburg when it comes time to restock. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. If you have the chance to attend a mead- and honey-tasting event, I highly rceommend you make the trip. Check Groupon; they have discount tickets there from time to time.

I went with a friend to a honey and meade tasting. I knew I liked honey but hasnt had much exposure to meade. The staff was fun and laid back while being very educational and inclusive. The samples were all delicious and we walked away with 2 glasses, 5 bobbled of meade and many honey sticks between us. It was a great experience!

We had a fantastic time visiting this new meadery in Williamsburg. The location is charming - decorated with reclaimed brick and antique barn board. The proprietors, Glenn and Sherri, really know their stuff! Their guided honey tours and mead tastings are an amazing experience and a must-see during any visit to Williamsburg.

Great place!! Stopped in here on a Wednesday afternoon and Glen, the owner/mizer (mead maker) did our honey and mead tasting. Great staff and great honey and mead. Honey tasting was unique and gave great insight into the product used in the mead. Highly recommend for the novice or expert mead drinker!

Went here with my family for the honey and mead tasting. FANTASTIC!!! Had a great time learning about different honeys and about what mead is ( I thought it was more like beer... Turns out its more like wine!). Everything was delicious and everyone there is so nice and very knowledgeable!

I am not a good one to ask. Being a diabetic, the mead is not good for me. I will say we came with 2 other people, total 4 of us. One die hard beer drinker was not going to change but the other couple loved it. I did enjoy the experience, but wish you had more room. Good luck.

Had no idea what Mead was. Kept thinking my family was talking about a "Meatery". Turns out it was actually pretty good. The different honeys that they use are delicious! Very informative and interesting tasting experience. Excellent thing to do when family is in town.
