Ive been to a few Ren Faires acrossed the contry in my life and this one is the best hands down. Living relativly close (30 min drive) has allowed me to visit this faire 4-5 times a year coming up on 5 years now. First I want to talk about how expensive everyone on this board sayd teh fair is. Having been to other faires allows me to admit yes they are $5-$10 more then most but its made up for in production valve. The price of the tickets they are roughly $27-28 this is what pays for the all the shows and performers you see inside. Mostly all the buildings and sets are made of wood and always in great condition (not cheap to maintain). If you want to save money dont bother with the 3-5 dollar coupons you will find at local gas stations... Use these for your first time your there that season. After 12:00pm directly across from the entrance gate there is an information stand go there and ask for a return ticket which cost only $16 good for anydate that the faire is open for the remainder of that year... Nearly 45% off. The next best way to save money is to bring a cooler with you full of sandwiches or whatever you like. Get your hand stamp at the Exit/Entrance go eat and return. You pay to get in you pay for food/drink and you pay to play carnival like games and any of the mechants/craft goods you want. You do that anywhere so i dont understand what these people are complaining about. Yes there are some adult humor show. marked with an *(insert show name here) and they warn you before it even starts. They are adult in content of words no ones showing off there breast or gyrating around on stage. There was once a band there called "Tartanic" only played a few select dates which had a member bellydancing in mixed pirate/bellydancer costume which could have slightly offened someone. (i found it erotic) but nothing like "elvira mistress of the dark" more like "saint pauly gir"l in a corset at its worst

I just want to say after my friend insisted i comment, and also knowing that this will probably be looked at as just some drunken girl complaining that her booze stash was cut off, which is why i didnt even want to say anything but Ive been going to the PA renisance faire for 20 years. My friend suggested we go to the sit down restaurant they put in a few years ago. We ordered and i had one glass of wine which i didnt even drink half of and he had a beer which he also didnt drink and ended up pouring away later out of anger. After we got the bill and i gave my credit catd my friend noticed security staring at us. They then came over and asked me to step outside where they told me i fell out of my seat(NEVER happened) i told them as much almost in tears and then was told no actually i passed out on the table(AGAIN NEVER happened) i said "Sir, I dont care if I dont have another drink but this is not true. May i please speak to the manager to clear my name." I was told "No we dont want a confrontation." I have never been in a fight or scene in my life. I was told I may not go back inside to get my daughter, my credit card or my belongings. I said my daughter is inside, sir." He then radioed in and yes i was permitted to get everything. I guess I didnt seem like much of a threat, beet red in the face and near tears. As i said, no one will probably believe i wasnt pass out drunk despite the fact that 5 minutes later i was able to carry out a full articulate conversation woth security, but it really doesnt matter as after being completely mortified I will never go back. We had planned to buy return passes, now i will only ever think on this place with horror. I still can not wrap my mind around what happened. Also i think i should state this entire review was written less than an hour after i supposedly passed out drunk on the table.

Terrible! Not a place for families. Its more a place for socially impaired, boozing adult children who still like to play dress up outside of Halloween. I havent been there in 10 years until yesterday & man it has classed WAAAAY down. Wouldnt recommend taking kids at all. Even the shows youd think were geared toward children (i.e. Magic show, mud pit, etc.) were filled with inappropriate adult humor. Just trashy. Soooo many sleezy drunks & questionably dressed women & the actors walking around would engage them & shout lewd things. It seems its all about the booze anymore & they sell cigars which are permitted to be smoked ANYWHERE. Gross! Everything was expensive beyond what youd pay pretty much anywhere else. Food was ok but way overpriced & the people working the concessions would rather be dead than polite. Everything inside cost a ticket or admission. Some things should be included in admission price. But here, youre basically paying a cover fee to shop in an outdoor mall. Really hard on families. Shows are free but the actors ask for money and walk around with a basket at the end of each and every show. I thought I already paid for that at least. They even harass you for tips in the bathroom...the nasty, smelly & unkept bathroom!! Only plus was falconer, musical entertainment, human chess & the joust. So, in short, if youre looking for a family friendly experience with a similar theme, try Dutch wonderland. They actually have a castle and once you pay admission, rides and all other amusements are free.

I love everything about it. Unusual foods, entertaining shows, and lots of shop full of hand crafted wares.Too much to ever see in a day. I go every year, usually multiple times; once with my friends to see adult shows and once with my daughters to see family shows. In the dozens of times Ive been there, still havent come close to seeing everything. Of course I have my favorites, but even those change every year to keep it fresh. I get mad reading reviews that complain about the prices. I find it amazing that they are able to keep the prices what they are when you think about all the professional actors that work there and at any one time you have your choice of 10 to 15 shows to choose from that go on from open till close !!! I think its a huge bang for your buck. Plus they have a multitude of discounts, on line and at Turkey Hills and repeat tickets are about half price. Every year I talk new friends and family members into joining me (often kicking and screaming. Especially the men) and I have yet to bring someone who didnt spend weeks talking about it after. The friends I brought this year loved it so much , they went back the next week and took more people. Its a grand and refreshing experience in this hightech world. Lastly, I tried something new this year. I went on the Pub Crawl with the Duo of Woo. Best Time at the faire EVER !! Those guys are so much fun . Going back with my daughters and their friends today to do the family thing in costume (costumes amp up the fun even more)

We have been attending for years and always have a great time. Live shows and great music and entertainment for all ages. I have never been offended by any content and the events are almost all family friendly. Those shows with a suggestive nature are clearly marked on the schedules and are announced as the shows beginning. There is no nudity or physical vulgarity, these shows are just themed towards a mature audience. If you have little ones or are easily offended by off color humor, just dont attend these shows. There is a ton of things to do for the whole family so dont be discouraged by negative comments. Honestly there are more suggestive things on daytime television than anything remotelly close to the great shows and entertainment provided at the festival in my opinion. We are a young family and have taken friends and family from 0-67 to the festival. If you are looking to spend the day wandering around the shire and interacting with characters from the 16th century from all walks of life (from the queen of England to a peasant flower girl) and enjoying various musical, comedy and action shows then I highly recommend the Ren Fest. For the budget minded, there are always participating stores that provide discount vouchers and the Festival itsekf also offers discounts for those attending in period costumes. You can also look for bargains in food and beverages such as buying refillable drinks (usually a large commemorative cup with lid and straw) to help save you cost.
