I ran into Littorai wines via a Charity auction a few years back and have been an avid follower every since. I appreciate their support of the community and especially their commitment to sustainable farming methods. They treat the land gently and their wines truly reflect the terroir. At their spring.release party last weekend they rolled out some of their 2012 pinot noirs including Les Larmes (Anderson Valley) and Platt Vineyard and Pivot Vineyard from the Sonoma Valley. My personal favorite was the Pivot - rich in cherries and herbs with a robust earthiness. The wines have lots of tannins right now and I am sure that with a little patience will be absolutely fabulous. Another special treat was 2012 Tributary Vineyard Chardonnay (which I believe sold out), but was a complete delight. One of the many things I like about this winery is that they often open up their cellar and pour (or sell) something very unique. This last weekend, although none was for sale, they poured a 3L 1999 Hirsh Vineyard Pinot Noir - that showed why patience could be a virtue - the silky mouth feel and secondary notes on this wine were amazing - and 1999 was a challenging growing year. I would highly recommend trying some of Littorais wine I think you will be as happy with them as I have been.
