Note that there are dusty old, bitter reviews on here from years ago that do not reflect the current staff and management at the excellent Hubbard Park Lodge in Fall, 2013. We were there today for their Lumberjack Sunday Brunch and every aspect was outstanding. First, it is truly a beautiful setting, in a Great Depression era lodge that is quaint yet comfortable, high on a bluff overlooking a fast-moving, clear-water, over-the-the-rapids section of the Milwaukee River. Second every member of the staff was welcoming, courteous, warm and worked to make sure we had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Our server was Tony-- he was friendly, engaging, attentive, warm and worked very hard to see that we enjoyed ourselves. We also visited with the manager, Noah, who politely made his way from table-to-table to welcome and check with his guests. Third, the food was delicious and special-- We started with a fresh made omelet . . . two fun chefs visited with us and each produced a wonderful, fluffy prize that each of us enjoyed very much. The bacon was perfectly done. The sausages, we learned, are made special for the Lodge by their purveyor and reminded us of the shorter, larger-around, tasty link that youre served in Ireland. The all-you-can-eat pancakes had some wonderful combination of Vanilla with a slight hint of Cinnamon-- they were delicious ... couldve been a little hotter and a little more golden, but thats just my taste. The coffee was hot, fresh and constantly refilled, the cheesy has browns were hearty, tasty and inviting. No problem getting extra scrambled eggs and another platter of bacon. BUT, the entire meal started with the most incredible, fresh-made, still-warm clutch of cinnamon ball donuts. There were two left because we were so stuffed we could not eat another bite, but I was tempted to take those sinful munchers home . . . but, you dont do that at a brunch. This is a very special place, well staffed and managed, offering delicious fare, all at a reasonable Milwaukee price. Go, go, go already! Take someone special. If they keep this up, word will spread again of what a superb and unique place this is, just south of Capitol Drive and west of Oakland, in Shorewood.

One star is too high a rating for The Hubbard Park Lodge! My family and I used to enjoy their Mothers Day brunch, but were all extremely disappointed this year. While the cost had gone up, the food and service were terrible. I think that they took on more than they could handle with three sittings. There was a very poor selection of food, and what was there was not replenished nearly fast enough, and had sat around for so long it was dry, cold, and hard. There were simply not enough people assigned to work. One poor kid had to man the omelet and crepe station as well as the roast beef carving station by himself! People were cutting the meat themselves rather than have to wait. Eliminated were previous years standards such as the entree, complimentary champagne, salmon on the main food bar. To top it all off, the over-stressed cashier added almost a 50% gratuity onto my bill, which did not show up on my receipt, only when I checked my online bank statement. I got the overcharge back, but it did not make up for a terrible meal. I wont be back!

I have been to this park many times, so when it came to choosing a place to get married, I couldnt think of a better place. The place itself is stunning. We ended up not being able to get married outside, but the small lodge for back, is still just as beautiful with all its details. I was however disappointed with the communication, or lack there of. We had several issues with the contract and the deposits made. Never getting receipts unless emailing several times to get a copy. The hardest thing was that there was no communication about the set up for the back up. Rehearsal is done on your own, so when we rehearsed I had no idea where the aisle would be. When I got there the day of, it was not at all where I would have thought it to be! We obviously made it work and had a beautiful wedding, I was just disappointed in the communication between the company and I.

A very cool location in the heart of Milwaukee. This place is a hidden gem on the Milwaukee River. You park a short walk away that takes you through a tunnel and along the river where you approach the old rustic cabin that is Hubbard Park Lodge. The building is an old log cabin looking place with a huge fireplace. There is family style seating on the main floor, and side by side seating on the top floor. The service was good, and a very friendly staff. They have good beer at a decent price. We went for the fish fry. It is moderately priced, but not very good portions. It barely filled me up, which is not something that I appreciate from a fish fry. It was a cool place to find and experience in Milwaukee, but as far as the food goes, it left me a bit unsatisfied., hence the 3 stars.

Went here for Sunday brunch. I love the setting, overlooking the Milwaukee River, this place is classic Wisconsin. Brunch is a set price buffet. Got a table on the deck with view (through the trees) of the river. Indoors is classic lodge, wood interior & red & white checkered tablecloths. Service starts with basket of hot fresh cooked donut holes you want to inhale YUM! After a spicy bloody Mary that had 2 slices bacon, two olives, lemon & lime wedges and a large shrimp garnish, with beer chaser (chaser a small glass, just so so beer) I didnt have much room for the brunch, roast turkey was ok, did try the Hamilton, can have made to order pancakes, omelets or tofu scrambler. Will have to return & try their tofu. As Venice place for relaxing Sunday am. Recommend

This was our first visit; we went for brunch. What a sweet place, so quaint, set in a beautiful area. Felt like a vacation lodge. For under $12.00 we were served fresh fried donuts (yum), bacon, sausage, cheese hash brown potatoes, pancakes (and scramble eggs if you desire). Thats before you go to the buffet where you can have made-to-order omlet with a variety of good things (even salmon), a variety of fruit, cereal and other goodness. The staff so friendly and inviting. They were attentive and did not make us feel rushed at all, We had Jackie as our server who was very sweet. Max at the bar was also very attentive. He made us awesome mimosas and grand bloody marys. Its tucked away, but worth the visit for a relaxing Sunday. It was very enjoyable.

What seemed like a lovely idea for a special event, turned out to be the absolute pits! Food at Hubbard Park Lodge was overpriced and mediocre/cold half the time. We were the first of three couples there that morning and it took until everyone else was taken care of to get a glass of water. On top of that, the waitress had gotten a CLUMP of her hair in my glass of water. Not just one single hair. A clump. Please dont be fooled by the cute tunnel you have to walk through to reach the woodsy lodge that is Hubbard Park. It is not as it seems!
