I reserved the room on the internet. I believe it is the same price as the main house by the lake. However when I get there they said I will have to stay in the little river lodge. I asked: "How did I get so lucky?" She said: "You reserved on the internet." I didnt want to make a fuss. But obviously, they discriminate you if you reserve the room on the internet, despite the fact that you are paying the same price. Oh, and she did indicate that this lodge has not been remodeled like the main lodge. OK, I am not here for the decoration, so Ill settle. After I get to the Little River Lodge, it is a little run down place, the bathroom is a bit hard to take, but hey Im only staying for one night, and my daughter and I want to ride the horse. Then my daughter opened the computer and found out theres no internet connection. Now that will be hard. After riding the horse, and going to beach for a swim, I want to relax in the room to surf on the internet. Without that it will be difficult to get through the long dark night. I phoned the front desk and asked about the internet. The front desk person is as cold as a fish, she simply said the signal is weak and that we can come to the main lobby for the internet. The main lobby is about 0.1 mile away, and I am not going to the main lobby for my long dark night. I demanded nicely to cancel the room and get my refund. She is still as cold as a fish, she paused and accepted my request nonetheless. After I checked out and I decided to go to the stable for a horse ride, and then go to the public beach for a swim and then go back to the city. I drove to the stable only to find out there will be no horse back riding until 3pm. No one was around to take reservation. Then I drove to the beach only to find out the public beach is closed for 7-24th. For what reason, no one knows. These are the main attractions for people to come to the state park, but they dont tell you that all of these are closed. At this point I cannot help but suspect that there is a conspiracy. When I checked in, one worker was standing in the entrance way trying to save a parking space for a limo Hummer. Then we saw the Hummer a black and gold "long" Hummer. Must carry a lot of dignitaries. The supposedly horse back riding schedule is every hour on the hour that was suspended until 3pm, probably for the dignitaries. The public beach that is closed for no good reason on 7-24 probably is for the dignitaries as well. We the common people might as well forget about it all, and most of all they dont feel the need to let us know ahead of the time. Boy, and I thought America is a democratic country. And oh, by the way, the phone number for the stable they gave us was a wrong # as well.

One of the worse stays we have ever had. Starting with rooms! Dirty! Cold. The last 2 years, the heat did not work! This year, the first night we called the desk 3 times. No answer. There was actually ice in a cup of water the next morning. We have been coming for 30 years for a family reunion. They never get the reservations correct. Not once! This year we were supposed to eat at 1:00 pm. They put us off until 4:30 p.m. That is not lunch it is supper! The breakfast buffet was terrible this year on all 3 mornings. The biscuits were hard, the bacon was basically raw, and the eggs were cold. The rest of our group ordered from the menu. It took 1 and 1/2 hours to receive the food even though the restaurant was mostly empty. They never received their drinks. When we went to pay, we were not even in the system. The desk clerks were rude and unhelpful. One was even making smart remarks to us! This place has always been special to us because of our grandmother. The lodge, the food, and the accommodations have been seriously declining over the years. The staff is rude and uncaring. I can no longer recommend this resort. It is a nightmare!

Well for starters, check-in was supposed to be available at 4:00 pm went to check-in only to be told that my cabin was not ready. (Did not receive our cabin until after 5:00 pm, and then the staff didnt know if the cabin was clean and ready at that time, she was just tired of seeing us wait, so she gave us out key and said we could go check if it was ready...lol), Walked around the lodge a bit, yes the main lodge itself is nice, but the so called high-speed internet that is only available in the main part of the lodge is extremely slow, I did a speed test online and literally download speed was on .5 mb and upload .1 mb, so yes that is exceptionally slow. The staff were somewhat helpful, not rude really just not very knowledgeable about what was going on in their own establishment. The only good thing about the place were the Log Cabins, very nice inside and clean, and very good A/C. Bottom line if you like the wilderness and love to fish and stay in a nice log cabin then this is the place for you, otherwise if you prefer the more techy feel with ease of access and fast internet then you should definitely not stay here.

What a gem! Was in Cadiz for my fathers funeral and booked this from the internet. It was the weekend of the eclipse and rooms were scarce and expensive. Such a pleasant surprise this was! The rooms were clean with 2 double beds. There were stairs that were difficult for my mother. Would have liked to see elevators to the rooms. The stairs are for the bottom two floors, as the lodge is built on a hill. So elderly or handicapped guests should request the 3rd floor, or ask when booking. Each room had a little balcony. Ours overlooked the lake. It was beautiful! Lots of wildlife ... deer, racoons, and lots of birds. There is a game room for video games, a nature center, a nice little bar, skeet shooting, horseback riding (it was $18 for a 46 minute ride when we were here) and restaurant. Beware of the resteraunt. We only ate there once. Breakfast was cold. This was a buffet. Not sure how you get a cold buffet. Anyway, we liked it so much we decided to make a trip here once a year to visit my father. We will absolutely stay here for all of our visits.

I used to love this place but the last time we were there, June of 2015, we witnessed a roach hanging out around the dessert area. Sometimes, restaurants have pest problems... but when we quietly told management that there was an issue, she was very dismissive and acted like we were just trying to get a free meal or something. Her employee went over to the area and actually jumped and squealed when she saw it. I will give them this, they did proceed to remove all the "clean" dishes from the area after killing it. They did not, however, remove the plated desserts right next to them. Also, there was a bird flying around through the restaurant...and no one seemed to really care. I used to love this place, and the food quality was still decent, but as the meal ended and we started to study our surroundings a little more, we decided it will be our last visit for awhile. It is a gorgeous building that needs some major restoration work soon. The restaurant needs a deep cleaning and a total staff eval.
