If you are at all interested in setting up an aquarium Living Art Aquarium is the place to go. Tim (the tall guy with the reddish beard) is a wealth of information. If you describe your tank to him he will honestly tell you if the plant, fish, or invertebrate you are thinking about adding will work with your current set up; he cares more about the tank and the survival of its inhabitants than selling you an expensive fish. The fish they stock are largely in great condition and they can special order you a fish if they dont have it in stock. They have a fair selection of equipment and tanks, but you might have to order some pieces online or get them from a generic pet store. For a specialty store the prices are very reasonable; especially if you think about the fact that you are not paying for just the fish, but the advice you are given as well.

By far the best LFS (live fish store) in Madison. Knowledgeable staff, but whats more, they know what they do not know, and know exactly how to search for it. I have brought guppies in for trade, and have seen the same fish still happy healthy months later. If a fish is sick, and you still want it, they will nurse it (and all its tankmates, preventing contagion via transfer to your existing aquarium!) to perfect health, and call you when the fish is ready. You can also order pretty much any fish under the sun (I mean, water?), and eventually, they will be able to stock it. Often they stock from local breeders, with the advantage of healthier fish undergoing less travel stress.

The staff is so helpful! My kids are new to keeping fish, and the staff was so patient about showing us fish, teaching us basics, and giving advice. Plus, before we purchased fish, they tested a sample of water from our aquarium for free to ensure that the water levels were healthy. It turned out that we needed to make some adjustments to our water because our brand new tank was still cycling. We went back another day, got our water re-tested, and this time the water chemistry was healthy. The fish we bought from Living Art is doing well in our aquarium.

After today, I will never return. First i was hung up on. Because she, couldnt hear me. Then I come in and was completely ignored. I understand that, I put a few goldfish on hold and wasnt able to come in to get them. When i said, i would. But I drove a 45mins in to just buy 10$ of gold fish. Because I said that I would. In which cost me the same in gas. ( Keep in mind, That i was offered koi fish for free near my house) Just to get the cold shoulder. Ive spent 100$ of dollars there and after today. Not another penny from me again.

A great place to get aquarium supplies. They are pretty friendly and knowledge about the trade and the hobby. If you venture in you can find most supplies you could wish for, although, they are more of a salt water aquarium store than fresh water. At least they have more variety of salt water fishes and a vast collection of anemone. You can get some rare combination of guppies form them occasionally, and pretty much the only place in town you can get pretty colored shrimp.

I started out with them 3 years ago, and I bought my fish tank from them, and I wanted to support them, and I bought fish from them, but all the fish I bought died. They gave me excuses for why the fish died. They said my fish were too aggressive, but what really happened was that their fish died THEN my fish ate them. I cannot recommend this place anymore. I gave them every chance to make it right, but after spending 100s of dollars, I will no longer go to this place.

Great selection and beautiful looking fish, best in town. Five stars will be given if they start putting names of the species or even the common name on the small individual fish for sale. I like to make sure the fish will jive with my others before truly considering the buy. Never have I went and seen all fish labeled.. This is the only thing that drives me crazy about coming here, sometimes the person who knows the species isnt working which for me is a lost sale.

When they first opened this location, BF,(before fish) and the marine system was still cycling, we were given the behind the tanks tour of the plumbing system, and they answered all my questions about setting up such a huge system. I wouldnt expect that now, since there are now fish to net and coral to bag, but it was very informative and personable. Their system is well thought out. I have purchased Iivestock and used equipment here, very happy with both purchases.

Im into saltwater aquarium. Looked all over madison for my supplies and found this place. The only place Im willing to buy frags and corals from. No sign of pest in their saltwater systems and all corals and fish are really healthy. Best saltwater aquarium place in madison by far.

Fantastic store. They have a large variety of both fresh and saltwater fish as well as plants and corals and everything in-between. This store has extremely helpful staff willing to assist wherever needed. If youre looking for quality... anything, this is the place to shop!

I give this store 2 Star because it has a good selection. The prices are insane! I would gladly drive to Milwaukee and hit up the many aquarium stores there before paying outlandish prices here. Helpful staff and nice store just way too overpriced.

Very informative staff, with a wide healthy selection of all the right things. Go here instead of the big chain stores like petsmart or petco. These guys know what they are doing, they care and its priced very aggreeably. Highly recommend!

Love this store! The fish are all so much healthier than the sad, ich-filled state of the other local fish stores, and the staff know what theyre talking about. Great freshwater plant selection.

Im UPSET I bought 3 damsels. I said I didnt care what 3 long as they were healthy. I was given one without bottom front fins. A fish having damaged missing fins is NOT A HEALTHY FISH!

I bought three cichlids all in great shape and health. The customer service was excellent. They also gave me a few tips about keeping fish healthy.

Expensive and sometimes the employees are doing other things instead of helping customers. If you have the money then youll be set to go.
