Very interesting experience. Would give it 3 stars but definitely not 5. Bit unclear why its received the high ratings it has elsewhere. Basically, its a single unit in a strip mall off of Pacific Highway, maybe 1000 to 1500 sq ft. The room is basically all open with smaller "pens" surrounding / ringing a central area. Some animals are penned, others are let loose in the big area. Which is where the "iffy-ness" starts to set in. Its a free for all. Lots of very fat (possibly unhealthy), little goats chasing children around to get small carrot sticks sold at the front counter. Problem is, having 5 goats jumping on a 5 year old starts to set off a chain reaction of nervous and apprehensive kids and the experience goes from enjoyable to questionable. If you can avoid a direct knock down from a goat and your kid isnt upset by others kids getting jumped on, then this might be a 4 star review. Its a small facility, with few unique animals (mostly goats, and one of maybe 4 more unique animals like the kangaroo (wallaby) its named for). Not sure its worth the Groupon price but definitely not worth full price.

I always have mixed feelings about petting zoos, but this one was different. First, they switch the animals out after a couple months so that relieved a lot of anxiety I have picturing animals under all that stress their whole lives. There are places people arent allowed to access for the animals if they dont want to be pet, but the most striking thing I noticed was that the animals actually DID want to be pet. Most places Ive gone to, the animals look scared and stressed. But these ones were friendly and people loving. I think its important to be able to pick up on an animals vibe and restrain yourself from petting it if it doesnt want it. For example, the wallaby just was not in the mood so I respected that and left him alone. The animals are well cared for and deeply loves. Great place!

I was heartbroken to see the living conditions of these poor animals. It looks like they took and old garage , gutted it, put up cages, slapped "blue skies" on the walls and opened it to rake in the profits and not even care about the happiness of the animals. The poor pig was in a pen that was approximately 6 x 4, there were roughly 6 to 7 ducks in a 6 x 4 pen as well with NO WATER in their dish, the poor ponys mane was dyed blue and pink and looked absolutely depressed! There was also a tortoise that was under a table with one of the bars from the table just resting on top of it! Please advise anybody you know from going to visit. hopefully they will get shutdown and put out of business.

The staff are wonderful. The animals are so clean & well taken care of. They get new additions to the petting zoo like baby goats, pigs, etc. They also occasionally get some exotic animals like a black & white porcupine. And well basically...its just great fun! Going there has a great calming effect. The animals are so calm & entertaining. Petting & watching them brings the heart rate down & the smile on your face. Any stress just melts away! Not that ANY of us have stress, right?!? Great fun for individuals, families & groups. We are all blessed to have Josie Rooz Petting Zoo!! If you havent been there...you are really missing out!

A fun little place. They have a good variety of animals from North America, South America and all over the world. Its oddly fun having a baby marra hop after you, because it likes the flavor of your shoe laces. They let you stay as long as you want, and the staff are friendly and know their animals (on our last visit, the staffer on duty is in vet school and knew the answers to our most obscure questions). Weve been a few times and my toddler loves the pony ride, and she has more fun each visit as she gets more comfortable with the animals.

The sign flipper with the tall boots and chicken hat was cursing at me and then he flipped me off in front of my kids when I asked him to stop. He also smelled like he just got done smoking marijuana. I have taken my kids here once and we had a great time but after what he did in front of my children I dont think my husband or I will ever bring our kids back. I have also been telling our friends that they shouldnt go there at least until they hire a more friendly staff.

My daughter enjoyed the pony ride because shes a toddler and doesnt quite understand everything yet. The pony just looked depressed. I dont think its natural to paint the ponies. The ride is in the back of the building with not a lot of space. The experience is beyond overpriced. All it is a large room filled with animals. The pony ride should not cost as much as what we got out of it. I honestly felt bad for the horse. I would not recommend or go back again.

This place is honestly the sadness thing I have seen in a while. There is no room and no real air or sun or light and its awful. All the Animals are so dirty like they dont know what a bath is and there is just little kids poking and jabbing at them I bet they are scared and stressed. I honestly dont know what human could live knowing they run a store like this. Its sad and this places should be closed and let the animals experience a real life.

Its in a shopping plaza, so for starters thats weird. Theres probably 25-30 animals running around this tiny little room while kids chase them. Zero windows for them and the poor horse was just trapped in a tiny little enclosure. Its a very sad and depressing place that is very overpriced. Dont support this place, save your money. There was vomit all over the toilet seat in the bathroom too. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

Don, the owner, loves his animals. These animals love the people and are very well cared for. They cant wait to be touched and seem to have a sparkle in their eyes. Our, my wife, 5 grand children and myself had a wonderful experience. Being raised on a animal farm I have a lot of experience. I recognize when I see a happy animal. Even t he tortoise followed me. 5 star for sure. SV

Before everyone judges this place... its actually really cool because in the evening they take all the animals back to the farm and in the seasons that its really hot they closed down . It looked as if they all enjoyed the petting and attention while there and the ponys hair being colored is not toxic people lol....

This place was disgusting and sad. I balled my eyes out soon after I realized what kind of place this was. There is no air. Theyre all cooped up. No room. The babies were TERRIFIED. Way to many people. The poor horse in the back is all alone and behind bars. I will NOT ever go back nor recommend it.

We visited here today and despite being a hot day the petting zoo was not smelly. Well organized and taken care of. Price was reasonable and has a military discount. The animals were friendly and there was a variety. My granddaughter loved it. Wear shoes because the sawdust will get in your sandals!
