Zany Zoo is, and always has been, an awful pet store to say the least. I have lived in Eugene for about a decade and remember them since the beginning. No matter how many time they relocate, I still see no improvement. I have returned on many occasion to check up on the animals there, who are almost all sick or in disgusting conditions. The reptiles frequently have their heat lamps off to save them money, are malnourished, are missing toes, have sores, or are housed in puny tanks, way below minimum space requirements. The mammals are usually in filthy, feces-covered enclosures and the birds fare no better. All in all, Zany tries to be a wild and exotic pet store, but all it really is is inexperienced staff members taking on far too many animals than they can handle. If youre looking for knowledgeable staff and healthy animals, try Reptile Universe or Bobcat Pets. Send you money to people who care about the animals they own.

I volunteered for Zany Zoo and it honestly surprised me how disgusting the place was before they moved locations. The owner of Zany Zoos was even arrested for tipping a prostitute with an exotic primate as well as stealing the money and the daughters girl scout money. The animals were not treated respectfully, especially from their own kids. As I was volunteering i was not able to say what came to mind, but if i was able to id say something about how their own kids would throw the animals in the air, put them on the floor and push them around and watch them freak out while sliding on the floor, and would bend and twist the animals around while tossing them around

This business is second handedly responsible for back yard breeding and is known around eugene as a second hand buyer of puppy mills. While the workers appear to be nice, the things that go down behind the curtain are what you should be more focused on. Pets in cramped, dirty, boring cages. Children (customers) grabbing, pulling, dropping small animals. Please support a business that cares about them instead of treating them like merchandise on a shelf. Even your "rescued" animals look sickly.

I have never been to a more knowledgeable pet store. They are all very warm and welcoming. This is a place where all animals are loved! Only place I go for my animals needs!
