I love the Arboretum. Sure, its beyond crowded in the flowering cherry pavilion in the summer. And the weeds can get overrun. And youll be sitting and enjoying your day when a tour group walks through and talks loudly in your quiet space. But you know what? There are awesome trees. There are rare trees, and carefully cared for cultivars. They have plants for sale, even, if you go check out the back area by the visitors center. There are ponds, and birds, and quiet walkways. There are gardens for each season, even a great winter one. There are willows and redwoods and tiny, delicate japanese maples. Just go. Also, the head arborist is a super nice guy. If you hear a chainsaw on site, go looking for it to see a master in action.

Having just moved to Madison Valley I have fallen in love with the Arboretum. It is a true sanctuary from the city and surprisingly so quite even on a nice summer night in Seattle. Its a shame in a way that not more people utilize the Arboretum but then again, its almost like I have it all to myself. There are plenty of shaded and sunny areas, good signage telling you what things are, its vast, but the highlight for me is the Waterfront Trail. This takes you on a run on docks ON the water. Ive never seen anything like it and it is so serene and beautiful, especially on a clear morning when it is just you and the UW rowers on the water. A must go!

If I were to review this place 20 years ago , I probably wouldve given it a one star. Recently decided to come on chance, and wow was I pleasantly surprised with the renovation. The parking is still not so great, but if you circle around a few times, you might just get lucky. The best times to come is early in the morning or early evening. It does tend to get crowded in the evenings, and you can understand why. The path is awesome and its great to get a few laps in. The grounds are so beautifully decorated and well maintained.

Ive lived near the arboretum for 12 years, and I still find it to be such a beautiful and magical place. I especially love the winter garden, with fragrant winter flowers, as well as the "fern valley" down the hill from the rhodies. They take good care of the trails in there, but it can still get muddy during the rainy months. There is a new multi-use trail being built, so a section of the main trail is under construction as of 3/2017. The road and other trails are all still open, however.

This is a little gem here in Seattle. Very nice park with lots of things to discover and quiet a view trails through the park. There is a visitor center at the north end of the park. Park is open until 11:30 pm and re-opens at 4:30. 11:30 is finally a decent time and not the usual rule: "Closed after sunset". There is plenty of free parking around the park on every side. Make sure to check this one out.

Peace in the city. Tired of the traffic and the madness of Capitol Hill? Head to the Arboretum. I used to drive thru the Arboretum just to refresh my soul, but really its about walking thru the gardens, enjoying the flowers with like minded people. I often take my dogs but dog owners should respect. Keep your dog on a leash and dont treat it like a dog park. People come here for peace and quiet.

The views, sounds, and smells of this place are amazing. The pacific northwest has a lot of great scenery and the trees are beautiful. The gardens are very nice, well maintained and if you are afraid of spiders, dont come here. There are lots and lots of spiders. Be careful where you walk. Also, caught a whiff of marijuana being smoked so also be on look out for that too.

Incredible park full of different trees from different parts of the world. You can walk from one end to the other in about 25 minutes using the main trail. Heads up the Japanese garden costs money while the rest of it doesnt. My only complaint is that the cherry blossoms werent in bloom but that cant be much of a complaint when its summer and they bloom in spring.

Now that the weather is getting better and the plants are slowly starting to bloom, this is a fantastic place to visit and explore into the nature in Seattle. Unfortunately theres some construction going on around there so you may end up on a trail that may be closed. There are signs posted to notify you. Overall, beautiful place to come and take pictures!

What a beautiful place in the heart of Seattle. Trees from around the world and locals mix and mingle in this beautiful park. I love the majestic Redwoods and Giant Sequoias. The new section has some interesting landscaping with some more desert scrub atmosphere. The paved roads are also very convenient for running as well. So wonderful at sunset as well.

I love the Arboretum - tons of trails, a beautiful visitor center. The Japanese Gardens here, though small compared with some others in neighboring cities, are still exquisite. The current construction (Oct 2016) does make it difficult to get anywhere though and waiting until more of that is completed will make your visit much more compelling.

Great park to visit any time of the year. Nicely maintained trail system that winds throughout the entire park. Several parking lots to choose from but can easily fill up fast. Visit the Japanese Garden located just to the south west of the park. Ive seen deer, owls, squirrels, turtles, rabbit and cayote in the park over the last decade.

Amazing place to visit, walk. Theres currently a +1yr project to renovate a large portion of the park so not all of the paths are available. Several parking lots, kayak push off sites, main and side pathways for walking, covered and sunny paths, lots of flowers and green to see, botanical area too. A definite must visit area of Seattle.

Nice trails, great trees. Clean place. However BEWARE, my vehicle was burglarized while parked in one of the parking lots here. Broad daylight on a Saturday afternoon with plenty of people around. They got nothing of value since I left nothing valuable in the car. But real annoying to have to deal with replacing the glass.

A nice place to walk and enjoy nature. However, the lack of directional signage within the arboretum can make it difficult for first-time visitors to find their way around and enjoy all the park has to offer. Youre left squinting at your cell phone, trying to determine where you are and where to go. Room for improvement!

It would be really nice if the paths had better signage. We ended up walking much more than intended. It was lovely and my 71-year - old mother was a good sport, but more signage wouldve really helped us around. The gardens are wonderful, though, and I highly recommend a visit. I especially love the Japanese garden.

So much to see and appreciate. I was able to explore the north end of the park by 520, sit on the beach and rest. The birds and wildlife are incredible a retreat from the busy area a stones throw away. I would recommend spending time at Foster Point watching the boats of all sizes go by, the canoes and ducks.

This park has many gravel paths weaving through it that range from flat and wide (Azalea Way) to small paths that meander through the forests making it perfect from both quick and long walks. During the spring and fall you will often see photographers here taking pictures of the beautiful flowers and trees.
