Fantastic gem of a course in rural Virginia. You will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of this course, the staff, facilities, and everything about the place. We found out about this course through a review by Golf Digest last year when it was mentioned as one of the top courses you can play, and they were right on the money in their assessment. the course is one roller coaster ride after another with its big rolling hills, undulating fairways and greens, and even some tricky blind shots, but it is more than fair with plenty of room to hit the big stick off the tee and avoid trouble if you want to. I think you will love it like I and my group did and we will certainly be back.

Very Impressive! If youve not golfed Mattaponi Springs, you are missing out on one of eastern United States national treasures. I have had the good fortune of having played golf courses all over the globe; from Bermuda to England, and Hawaii to Japan and I can say without question that the service I experienced there is without equal.. The course was exceptionally maintained and the staff was eager to make my visit a memorable experience. To the team at Mattaponi I would like to say thank you and from my vantage point, I firmly believe that Mattaponi is in a class of its own……. My Japanese colleges would humbled by the experience

Hidden gem of a course out in the boonies of Caroline County... about 15 mins. drive from Kings Dominion but definitely worth the drive! Challenging layout, great greens, beautiful range, never crowded... visit every couple of months on the weekend to play, and never a wait to tee off. On par with other great public courses in the area (Royal New Kent, Pendleton, Chesdin)

A fantastic design in the middle of nowhere. Every hole presents an interesting set of choices - always challenging, but also fair. Every green has three tiers, so an accurate shot to the right part of the green will give the best scoring chance. The fairways and greens were in great shape, but some of the bunkers had weeds growing in them.

Great golf course. Usually not crowded due to out of the way location. Excellent layout, very fine conditions and fast greens. A bit more expensive than nearby competitors, but worth it.

Love the place- quiet, good fairways, nice greens. Staff is small but attentive to needs. Rates are awesome, especially for Military and the course is challenging.

I dont know what all the fuss is about. This is an uninspiring, yet well-maintained, golf course that is poorly managed. Poor location choice as well.
