My wife and I went on a date on 10/3/14. The theater has a very casual atmosphere. There is no kitchen, and nothing served except for a small snack bar with soda, water, chips, candy, etc. The staff were genuinely friendly. The seating far outstripped attendance that evening- but a staff member did report that their events sell out as well. The actual comedy was very reminiscent of "Whose line is it anyway?" The comedians were on two competing teams, however the winning seemed secondary to the entertainment. My wife and I laughed quite a bit, especially during a sketch when one comedian guessed correctly from clues that he was kayaking on a zebra in a body of water that was actually blood. His reaction was hysterical! The referee was in charge of keeping time for the sketches, getting audience input for concepts to incorporate in the sketch, and calling "fouls." I was apprehensive at first that the theater had a policy of avoiding crude, obscene, or foul comedy- I was worried that it might be wholesome in a way that ends up boring. Fortunately it was not at all saccharine. The lack of adult humor was not missed in the frenetic energy and hilarious acting. I would suggest very young children might not enjoy it was much as adults. My wife and I easily concluded that we would return. The staff there strongly supported audience engagement, so much so that in addition to the team scores they awarded me a point for the suggestion of a luchador in one sketch. The announcer then dutifully called the team scores, followed by mine for the remainder of the evening. The night concluded with one team winning, and then as we walked out the door all the nights players gave us high fives. Very positive experience.

I laughed so much that I developed a headache! The players were funny and talented. Their gift and skill of improvisation was remarkable. I was amazed by the timing and the wittiness of the comedians! My wife and I were really impressed by the bubbly high energy youthfulness of Sarah Murphy, the commanding captivating improvisation skill of Micah Edwards, and the obvious passion of Scott Ingwersen. The referee Susan Scovill did a great job keeping the audience attentive and involved. Two thumbs up for Comedy Sportz! I am really feeling the “Loyal Fan” title we were given at the show last night. We will even give a pass to the comedian who had to ask for clarification on who Harriet Tubman was in history, and only charge it to her head and not her heart because I am so impressed with what all the comedians are capable of doing without preparation of the audience’s suggestions. It was honestly one of the best nights I had. Clean genuine fun!!

We went there during our Richmond, VA vacation. Wife found them on the internet and thought it would be a great place for the whole family. The show was halloween themed. The performances were great, and definitely family friendly. Dont let that fool you, though as the entire performance was fantastic and funny. There must be something about participating in the show that just elevates the fun factor. My wife even volunteered to help with one of the improv games and did AWESOME! She was so good that the owner, and all the players from both teams wanted her to join the adult workshop and be a player there! Too bad we live in Columbus, OH -- she would have been great there! We need to find some backers and start a ComedySportz here! Ticket prices were reasonable and the food good.

After finding this place online, I decided it would be a fun thing to do on the last day of our trip as a family. We arrived early, thinking it was going to be super busy, and then quickly discovered that the building was not a large, busy theatre. Its a small building in a strip mall. There were less than 40 people at the show, but it was a great time for everyone. The show was an improv competition between two teams. They played improv games based on audience member suggestions. The show was filled with lots of variety in humor, so its great for all ages. I would recommend eating dinner beforehand, as they only sell small snacks and beverages like chips and candy bars. Its an inexpensive way to get a good laugh. Would recommend!

ComedySportz allows the performers to embrace the essence of having fun in the moment. No two performances are the same because of changes in the performers, the games played, and so much more. That being said, its unreasonable to critique the specific content of each performance. Overall, the structure of the performances provide a clear understanding of the barrage of games played and just enough time for you to catch your breath from laughs in-between games.

I found the comedy childish (not in a good way). The performers did a skit where they spat water all over each other and the floor which was not funny at all. The moderator was gushingly enthusiastic but not at all engaging. Sorry, I really wanted to like this, but I left at intermission.

We were just visiting friends in Richmond and looking for something to do with the children and came across this. It turned out he best decision with boatloads of fun and entertainment. I would definitely recommend it if you have a couple of hours.

We came, we saw, we laughed. Our particular night was a B or B+; they handled an audience dominated by preteen girls very nicely.
