Going down hill fast. This was a great club at one point and is now just a poor excuse for a course. The staff with the expeption of the females are void of any personality and basically rude. The greens are in bad shape and the overall course condition is poor. The golf pro (Peter) as mentioned an ealier review is rude and does not seem to understand why he gets a paycheck and who its from. This course was well on its way to being a great golf establisment, what a shame. Its a confusing place to play with flags that are different colors on the three nine hole stretches. Is the pin in the front or back? you certainly cant trust the pin sheet on the carts but if you have a telecope you can see a little piece of white under the flag that may give you an idea. I have watched people try to figure out how to get to the back nine or which nine is the back. Paying to play a round seems to take forever. Bad service, bad condition, top dollar. I hope someday the full potential is reached but for now its moving backward.

Amazing mountain golf. This course, with the exception of the 10th hole green which has unfortunately succumbed to weather, bug, and drainage issues, is in great shape and excellent value for the money. The club house and facilities are above average and clean. The course has one of the only par sixes in the state at 625 yds from the White tees. It is an easy birdie for a long ball hitter and I reached with an uphill approach from 140 (very elevated green and soggy conditions) with an 8 iron to end with birdie. Also, there is a tantilizing par 3 which has an extremely elevated tee box at 210 yards... play it as 170. The course is forgiving and challenging at the same time. Many blind tee shots where home cooking golf shots pay dividends.

I would give this course at least one more star rating had it not been for the price. I have visited this course several times in the past few years while traveling, and found it to be a very nice, well kept course at a reasonable price. However on my last visit a few days ago I was charged 35.00 on a weekday for senior play. I also played another course near there, for ten dollars less which was every bit as nice, maybe even a little better shape. I live near Durham NC, and many nice courses here are in the twenty to twenty-five dollar range for weekday senior play. Sorry Ashley but I will not visit there again, as there are several other courses in that area that are just as nice for a much better rate.

Its a decent place to golf but even though we had a tee time as a two some they paired us up with a random. Made most of the day feel awkward. The course is pretty challenging but the tee boxes were grown up pretty bad in my opinion as well as the fairways. You have to tee off exactly when your time is like on the second or youll have someone hollering at you too hurry up go. Was not impressed whatsoever nice views of the valley and thats it. However the people working in the cafeteria were extremely pleasent and helpful. Its advertised as a 27 hole course but 9 of them are closed so its just a below standard 18 holes with goose picking holes in the greens and lots of geese to avoid as well.

Had the opportunity to play the original 18 holes at Ashley while visiting friends in Roanoke. What a beautiful course; very good condition; awesome scenery; challenging but fair. The staff was very friendly and helpful; and we also had a chance to speak with the Head Pro, Peter, after our round, he was pleased to hear we enjoyed the course and cordially invited us to come back anytime we were in the area. A very pleasant day!

My group played at Draper first so maybe the comparison is not fair, but I have never played fairways in such beat up conditions. There were so many dandelions and weeds is was almost like they were seeded there! I would hate to think I had one of those high end homes that rested on the fairway! If you take the pictures online to heart you will be very disappointed!

Ashley Plantation has a very good layout with many excellent holes. The mountain views are terrific. The traps need some work. The driving range is good, all downhill. The putting and chipping greens are excellent.

The Original 18 holes is pretty good. Whatever you do, avoid the newest 9!! On that 9 the 4th hole is a ridiculous par 5. I hit a stupendous drive about 240 yards, and had a lie on a steep downslope!!

Great place to golf but the sand traps suck really bad. Nice views and an awesome par 6. Yes a par 6.

Not really what I expect from a Country Club. Not very scenic. Looks like it is going downhill.
