Very good experience and really good greens, particularly for a public course. Also, fairways are very well groomed. Ive played at most every country club in greater Pgh area and while 3 Lakes isnt up there with the big four or five, its the most challenging public course Ive played-challenging because of relatively fast greens(not as fast as they used to be but lightning compared to other public courses) and hills. I had my son out who has just started to learn the game and we had a great time. The people there were professional, helpful and friendly, from the pro-shop to the restaurant they have on site. Getting a tee time online was also really convenient. They make it easy just going to their website. I selected "special" and we got a discounted rate. The person in the pro-shop pointed out that my son was a Jr and we paid even less-he didnt have to do that. It was $30 for me and $22 for my son. While thats not the cheapest, considering the quality and challenge of the course, how close it is to Pittsburgh, it is a very good value.

The day before the wedding, at the rehearsal no less, we were told that they " were a golf course first and a rental facility second". We also encountered rude employees and were made to feel like we were intruding on our own event. We were rushed through pictures, told to shut our children up, and they forced the bride to put her dress in the dirt for pictures because they felt someone may come down the golf path. They served beer that expired over 2 years ago to 4 guests, ran out of most liqueur (we only had 45 guests), cleared away our drinks and food as we were still eating it. The price is decent, the views are beautiful, but neither is worth the way they make you feel. The ruined this special day for many people in the family. They only had 4 dirty bathroom stalls for women and 1 for the men and 3 event rooms to share it. They really should stop advertising this place as an event facility because they will ruin your day too, even though they are nice at first they will ruin your day too. I recommend this facility to NO ONE!

First time in awhile, last time forever. 4 years ago I played this course regularly. Its close to my house and was in good shape. I played today for the first time in 2 years and wont be back. Greens were B+ which is only reason I didnt rate 1 star. Fairways are beat, black tee boxes are a joke. What the hell did they do to hole 5. Dumbest hole in golf and then I realized why they did it. To put in a maximum 4 stall driving range thats about 6 bowling lanes wide. Amateurs hit slices and sure enough the 10th hole was littered with range balls everywhere. Its a joke. Dont play here, because the worst is they think they can charge 40 bucks for a 1 oclock tee time. If it was say 25 i wouldnt have cared soo much. Either fix the course or admit your failure and drop the price.

I played this course when it was still Alcoma Country Club. I cant imagine how the people who loved this course would feel today. A recent round found the greens in poor shape - so patchy that a good hole location could not be found on some of the greens. The greens used to be the jewel of this course - slick and beautiful, but no more. Fairways were also patchy -- the country club is becoming a distant memory despite the golf shoes on top of the lockers. I was on the beach at number 17, and the trap looked like a herd of deer had been followed by a herd of golfers. Much worse shape than the previous times I have played this course -- 2 or 3 times per year in the last five years.

They seem very nice but we booked our reception in July and they filed for bankruptcy in October. We had to hear about it from friends, they did not inform us that anything had changed. Upon speaking with the owner, they said that we shouldnt be worried and shouldnt cancel our contract, but they would not guarantee that theyd be in business for our wedding. Do not book your wedding here - they are in the process of closing for good and are letting things slowly fall into disrepair. Theyve been less than honest about the entire situation with us and weve been getting the feeling that theyll pretend everything is fine to ensure that customers continue to pay them.

First time playing this course; overall the experience was so-so. The cartpaths are in terrible shape, but the greens are well taken care of. The course itself was very nice, except that it wasnt always clear where the next hole is. Despite the nice course, the employees who work there were extremely rude. When I called to reserve a tee time, they acted like I was bothering them with my request. When we arrived for our tee time, we were treated pretty poorly. They were patronizing and actually barked orders at us (i.e. "You WILL have the cart back here by noon, no later." At $27 for 9 holes, Ill take my business somewhere else.

Played here for 1st time last Friday. We met "Troy" at pro shop....VERY accommodating and friendly. Prices were more than fair. Fairways are some of the very best Ive played in Western Pa. Greens are VERY firm and fast. Challenging .....which I Love. Only reason not to give a 5 star rating was the bunkers, they could use some work. Givin a little more time, Im certain that Art and his staff will elevate this course 5 stars ! Looking forward to playing here many more times.

I just read the last review and am astonished at the opinion of the banquet staff. We had an entirely different experience. We had 180 people and reserved all 3 rooms. Everyone was wonderful, especially Sue. Our photos on the course are beautiful and there was no charge for the golf carts! Our son Joe was given 4 free rounds of golf which he used with his grooms man the day before our wedding and they loved it. The entire event was better than we expected

As an employee, by far, this is the best "first job" or "family oriented" type of place you can find. Sue always makes it her number one priority to make every guest happy, as well as the rest of the staff! If you had a bad experience, i apologize. But come back and give s another chance. We will prove you wrong! This is the best place hands down for Golf, Food, and events!

Played on Mothers Day with a slight drizzle that did not damper the round whatsoever. GREAT TRACK! Some tough side hill lies and the rough is thick so hit em straight. The greens were in amazing condition, SUPER fast and rolled very true. The bunkers were extremely soft, but I was only in 1 so I do not know about others. I really like this place!

This is a very well maintained golf course from the tee boxes to the greens. It is a great challenge from the back tees. The prices are not unreasonable for the quality. I plan to start playing here on a more regular basis. Also, the food in the 19th hole bar and grill is fantastic. I highly recommend grabbing a bite to eat after your round.
