My most important advice--get there early! We attended a rock concert there recently. We got within one mile of the arena, then hit heavy traffic. It took us 45 minutes to travel that one remaining mile! Traffic was chaotic as people cut off others, made right turns from left lanes, etc. We saw no local police to help the traffic situation, although two patrol cars were parked at a Taco Bell. So, if your event starts at 7:00, plan to arrive by 6:00 at the absolute latest. The arena has no large-screen televisions (jumbotrons). Our seats were in the lower part of the upper deck; there were no ushers, so there were lots of folks milling about trying to find the correct row and seat numbers. View was good until some folks decided to stand in the aisles and platform areas. Again, no ushers to control the crowds or to enforce the no smoking rules. Restroom facilities were no where near large enough for the crowd present. This arena will not be my first choice in attending future events.

I read the reviews prior to buying tickets to a Luke Bryan concert and I almost didnt buy the tickets because they were so poor. I wound up buying the tickets anyhow because I really wanted to go and wow, was I surprised! I encountered none of the problems that had been previously described. Traffic was heavy but both campus and borough police were on hand to help. Entry the concert looked like it was going to take forever because the line was long, but several facility staff were circulating and were able to direct everyone to the fastest entrances quickly. There was no search upon entry and any staff that I encountered were both friendly and helpful. Ushers were also available to assist people in finding their seats. Yeah, beer was $7 for a 20oz domestic, but that it sort of to be expected at any concert venue. The concert itself was fantastic and I would highly recommend this venue!!

I didnt feel like I was free to enjoy the band and get into the music. There were staff everywhere and bouncers galore all over the place. We were patted down before entering and purses and handbags were checked. We were given wrist bands and black Xs on our hands for beer of which we were only allowed 4 total for the entire night. $7 for a domestic 21oz draft. Traffic was not bad going in as we arrived 30 mins before the doors opened but going out was pretty bad. But that is to be expected. It was mentioned the over-protectiveness was due to a student having gone missing from the arena a few months ago but this was countered by someone who has been going here for a while for concerts and they said theyve always searched people going in. Wont be back here unless there is a band I have to see before I die.

My wife took our daughters to this arena and after waiting over one hour in traffic, she was told to turn around and go back down the same hill she just came up to park as they ran out of room near the arena. If this arena cant handle what they are advertising, then they shouldnt be hosting huge bands like Twenty one pilots. Leaving 4 hours before the concert and she still had to deal with this maddness. Never again will we attend an event at this arena. Simply unacceptable. Get it together John Paul Jones arena cause clearly you do not so far.

I went to the TØP Concert & finally getting to baracade. The security staff at Baracade were amazing if you are looking at the stage & to farthest left the Security guy was absolutely amazing he was kind efficient & looked out for everyone. He made it a safe & fun environment. The arena overall is clean & the other staff members were just as nice. Wish there was some way to say thank you to the security person. Hope he gets to somehow see this. Thanks again for all you diid.

Good place to watch a basketball game and can be a good place to watch a concert. The place can accommodate suite a large amount of people but the seats close to the top are very far away. Pretty easy to navigate the inside of the building. Concessions are average. Plenty of parking around the area especially if youre willing to walk a bit.

We love going to JPJ. This time we were there for basketball camp for my son. It is a stunning arena that is easy to get to. For UVA basketball games, we always park at the garage on Ivy and its just a short walk JPJ.

Ive been to this venue multiple times. I have to say though that the impressiveness is matched in sound quality. You can hear a lot from any where in the arena. A wonderful venue great for any event.

Watched my adopted son get his diploma tonight. So proud!! Also saw Eric Church perform here. Thought my seats were bad by the map, but turned out great. You could honestly see from anywhere.

An amazing stadium, with plenty of parking for major events. Up to date, fresh and clean facility. Only downside is the prices for food and drinks.

Sat in nose bleed section and still had great view. Great arena for a concert overall. Parked about a quarter mile away. Quick in and quick out.

Great place to see a concert or UVA basketball. Parking can be a bear, but the traffic crews usually get you in and out pretty fast. GO HOOS!

Nice venue. . Seats up higher are very steep, so you may not want kids or elderly to sit up there
