The BAD: The requirements for membership are: Proof of residency in Provo, and your taxes, to proof that your kids are really yours. The price is not by any means cheap, so, as a Provo tax payer resident I feel a little cheated with the price. Specially for large families. Customer service is inconsistent. Some of the reception people are awesome. Some are the mean passive aggressive kind and some are just rude. But they can get really busy and stressed out with many people trying to get in at the same time. But this problem can be avoided with better organization. No place or office to place a proper complaint or suggestion. The reception people will be defensive. They dont know how to handle complaints. Sanitary conditions are not the best. But is not the worst either. The whole mezzanine area only has a small bathroom with 1 toilet and one urinal. A lot of people go to that bathroom so it needs to be cleaned up way more often. Same with the pool bathrooms and changing rooms. Some "Pool staff" people dont have the best attitude and can be aggressive to kids. The Good: The Design of the mezzanine and basketball courts are the very best I ever seen. You can work out in the treadmills and do weights and see whats going on on the basketball courts and other areas of the facility which makes it really nice. Youll never feel claustrophobic in this place. The Pool is awesome, but try to go early because it can get really nasty in the afternoon. A culture of showering before using the pool must be encouraged. If you like basketball, this is "The Place". City sports classes for kids held in this facility, are very good!

This looks like a lovely facility, but I didnt have a lovely experience there today. I was tending my 5-year-old granddaughter and thought it might be fun to go to the rec center and let her play on the climbing equipment and slides. Nobody was in that room and it was open (9:00 a.m.), so she began to play. After a minute or so, the door to the child care room opened, and the guys told us we would have to leave because the child care children were coming in. I wondered what difference it would make to let one child continue to play. However, I realized that maybe regulations didnt allow an adult who hasnt been background checked if child care children were coming in. Okay. So, we went to the ping pong tables. Nobody was playing on those or on the pool tables--not a soul was in sight. I asked the girl if we could pay to play ping pong. She pointed out the sign that said 8:00-1:00 was for seniors only. I told her I was a senior and wondered if my granddaughter could play with me. Nope. We were sent away. I couldnt believe it was SUCH a big deal to follow the "senior" rule in such a picky way when there was NOBODY there. Could she not have said we could go ahead but would have to quit if the tables filled? As we left the facility, we saw that about six child care kids were playing in the climbing room. Could the guys not have given me the option of paying the $2/hr. fee and admitting my granddaughter through the child care facility while I waited outside? Why make the place so inaccessible?

Id like to see a few more Adult art classes, Yoga, Self Defense class & Volleyball is Definitely Needed!!!!! I Do Feel the Extra Charge for using the games/tables (ie: Pool Table, Ping Pong, Rackets & Balls ect.) is Ridiculous! The reasoning behind this Fee is that some parents allowed there kids to damage a pool table/equipment, the loss of Basketballs & so on basically these fees are to cover replacement of equipment used, but I thought "that" was covered in my yearly membership. This fee was added about 8 months after their opening so most are unaware of this. I just think it should be part of the membership fee I hate being nickel & dimed to death when I go places that Ive paid a membership to especially when I dont always plan on bringing extra cash or my card to do so. Otherwise the Rec Center is a great place to enjoy. They did adjust the chlorine levels in the jacuzzi so thanks guys! You definitely Need to Bring a Lock for the locker to use as light fingers abound. Keep a close eye on your kids because there are no cameras (which should be added to the door area at the very least) so be safe not sorry! I hope to continue enjoying this venue for years to come. Thanks Provo!

I like the rec center, but if I had designed it, I would have done some things differently. I wish they had wet and dry sonna s like orems rec center, they should have included more pool space and less basketball space, I like the work out room upstairs, but the most popular machine, they only have one of, and its hard to get on it, cause there is always a line for it. Also, I wish the hot tub was warmer, and its down sometimes, another few things that bother me are that they shut down the inside slides about half the day, why not have everything open all the time the facility is open, also, when they say they are open until 10, that means they want you out of the building at 10, and they are Nazis about it, But overall, despite those annoyances, I get a good work out while Im there and Im pretty happy. Its a good place to go with my family. Just dont forget your card, cause they are Nazis about that too. P.S. just noticed the response from the owner asking which machine it is that there always seems to be a line for, its the leg press right at the top of the stairs and to the left, the first machine you come to

I have never had such a bad experience at a recreational center. First when we go to swim the front desk didnt tell us the pool is closed for half an hour which they should have. We couldve done something else till the pool reopen. I was trying to get my two-year-old is not to be afraid of the water so I went down the slide with them and immediately got in trouble. Nowhere did I see that I couldnt go down the slide with my 2 year olds. So we found slides that went side-by-side and I went down next to them to help and encourage them and immediately was yelled at again. My wife and son were sitting next to the waterspouts I would cover the water and spray them and was yelled at again. I was doing normal play with your kids stuff at the pool and filth unbelievably unwelcome. The activities that I got in trouble for were all normal fun behavior at any other pool and kid area. I take my kids to different ones all the time. I will never return to the Provo rec centre and recommend anybody else take their kids to someplace else because of how on welcoming and unfriendly and how poorly the place is ran.

The rec center is great having a tennis court, two basket ball courts, and even racket ball courts. The upstairs has an awesome track that has separate lanes for walking, running or somewhere in between, that runs above the before mentioned courts. There is a very good range of workout equipment and even Zumba and spinning classes on center nights. They have a great lap pool and a large pool area for kids. The only complaint I have about the whole thing is the pools however. Sometimes when the lap pool is taken for swim meets or practices you are stuck using the other pool area which can get very hectic. There is no real adult swim for that space, just a short break every now again when parents are asked to make sure their kids diapers are still good. The life guards unfortunately do not do much at all to stop rough housing. I just do wish that even in the evening there was a time deemed an adult swim.
