I am not taking away from the kind staff and amazing food. This last Saturday (10/8/16) 3 friend and I played The Ranches. The build up for this course was pretty great. The pictures on the website were great and set our expectations high. We traveled 1 hour to play this course, based off the website. This is what we found. When we arrived, immediately we noticed how dry the fairways looked from a distance. The tee boxes were in good shape for the most part. The fairways were not good. 99% dead grass and the short grass was not well maintained whatsoever. The worst part by far was the greens. These greens are possibly the worst in the state. I have played freshly punched greens that were better. It was a joke putting and would never pay to play here again. The greens were worse than Nibley and Mulligans! My recommendation would be to never play this course in this shape. From the laid back atmosphere, I do not believe maintenance is taken very serious. The sad part being, this could be an amazing course. Its a tough course, unique holes, located in a beautiful area. For me, this course gets a 3/10, based on maintenance. No respectable golfer will find the condition of this course acceptable.

Not in very good condition, overall. Some of the greens look like a US Open green from Chambers Bay last year. Completely dried out and crusty. Its always slow when we play here as well, that tends to get a little frustrating. I will say they have a unique advantage of being a very challenging course because the winds change daily, and its never not windy. I played the front nine on a Tuesday and shot a 48, then played it again on a Thursday and shot a 36. A difference in the wind makes the course dramatically different. The pro shop needs some love, seems like they planned to build a nice pro shop/clubhouse and never got around to it.

Course is beautiful. The staff were very rude. Id never written a review before but thought it was bad enough to tell people I would never go back. It all started on tee 1 when we teed off and was approached on our next hit by an employee who told us we were 5 minutes late so we needed to wait for two other groups before we can go. I was late so I understood in a way but the group behind us werent on time for theirs either and the group behind us apologized because they didnt understand why they wouldnt let us play. There were other things but Ill end here.

Course was fine. My only issue came when I finished and left my watch in the cart. I called the next day and the guy on the phone confirmed it had been dropped off at the front desk. When I went to pick it up, it had vanished. Obviously, an employee walked off with it. Rather than address the elephant in the room the guy behind the counter just asked that I leave my number. As if that was going to in any wqy chqnge the situation. I realize I am at fault for leaving my watch in the cart, but I am still disappointed in how the issue was handled.

The course is not in great shape, the greens are full of divots and dead grass. They over book tee times and crane way to many people on the course. I just got done playing it on Saturday, April 28th. The group of four dropped out in front of us, and the group of four behind us dropped out, and we were still waiting 20 minutes per hole. Our group of four had two drop out due to wait times, they cram and cram you down the course. I will not go back again, we dropped out at hole 14. Poor poor managment.

Golf pro is the only reason to come here, he is fantastic. Greens keeper and staff should all be fired. The course is in horrible shape compared to past years. Unfortunately the course is more of a weed patch, the sand traps are rock quarries carefull u may break a club on the rocks in the traps, just look at the slope where the ranches wagon is coming into the clubhouse and its now just a weed bank. This was a very nice little course just a few years ago and its going to have fast. Very sad to see.

This is a challenging course. It also has some things that make it worth trying out. Overall I liked the front 9 more. The holes were difficult, but playable for those who arent great at golf. My favorite hole was 18 though. The huge incline is a challenge because its hard to read without having previous experience on a hole like this. The carts were great. They all have GPS on them so you dont have to mess with other devices.

Fun golf course. Great living close by. Adds a lot to the community. Great golf pro and very fun tournaments, kids camps, activities, league play. Vanguard management does a superb job! Highly recommend playing. Only busy on Saturday morning, not much wait at any other times. Be sure to follow all the way through on your golf swing or else youll be slicing and hitting roofs on several homes.

Course is in really bad shape. Everything is dead and the greens are in horrible shape. Service is really just not there for them. The facilities are solid though. I will never play this course again to be honest. Completely overbooked where it took 3:30 hours to play 9 holes is unacceptable. They need to stop allowing walk ups play when the course is full.

This was my plan B course since I originally wanted to play at Thanksgiving Point golf but it was booked for a golf tournament on Monday. Fast green and awesome hole placement. Some tee boxes were in a somewhat rough shape. 9th hole was made much shorter due to the bunker construction. One less star due to the tall unusual 1st rough grass. Played solo.

Tough course, but fun. Used to be in great shape but they havent taken very good care of it in 2017 so far. The clubhouse has great food and the main guy Telle that runs the shop is a really good dude. Get the VanGuard Card for $99 and pay only $21 for 18 holes and a cart Sun - Thurs

Went today for my first time at this course. Stay alert for range balls on the first hole because there is no barrier and it is parallel to the range. Other than that everything was great, challanging holes but relatively easy greens. I will be going back regularly.

The carts need updating, our seat was falling off, I did like that they were electric carts. The womens bathroom door wouldnt close it was bent. The cart paths need some TLC, very bumpy Liked the cold water coolers at the bathrooms.

The course layout is fine, a good mix of difficult and simple holes. Very cheap. The only problem is how well they keep up the grass. It can be great in the spring but horrible in the summer and fall.

This course has some work to do. I dont really like playing between houses and there is a lot of that on this course. It is a little out of the way but there are main roads getting you there.
