This is a pretty cool place to visit and a great place if you love exercise:) I am sure you can do research and there are probably comments/reviews but the hike up is not for the faint of heart. Its 1.5 miles and it is steep and points along the way are or can be dangerous for smaller kids. Keep in mind too that it is also 1.5 miles down. All in all it took us about 1-1/2 hours to climb up the mountain. We stopped and rested along the way. We had older people and a 3 year old in our group that we ended up carrying most of the way. It was too much for her. The caves are pretty cool to see and the rangers stop enough along the way. There are I think 5 different stopping points. The cave tour takes 55 minutes and is dimly lit. It is tight and I suggest wearing good shoes and bringing a coat if you get cold. It is cold/damp in the cave. Overall we were glad that we did this.

The hike is tough as the inclination % is high, but there are plenty of spots to rest if needed. 1.5 hours to reach the cave is quite fine for almost everyone (kids included). As warned by the ranger and the website, bring at least 1-2 liters of water... going up in summer is quite hot and you may sweat a lot... The caves are AMAZING and chilly... so bring some extra cloth as youll be sweating on the way up and you may get cold inside the caves. The way down is piece of cake... easy and fast. Overall.... 15 over 10...

Of seven different national park sites visited in the West these last few weeks, including Sequoia and Dinosaur, Timpanogos was one of my favorites. Because of the frequent guided tours here, there are many rangers and they are almost all incredibly friendly! The facilities, trail, and cave itself are well maintained. The views up to the cave are beautiful and the features inside the cave are stunning. Bring some food and picnic at the tables across the street from the visitor center along a rushing creek.

Fun for the whole family. At the parking lot, you are able to buy refreshments and food for the journey up or after. The hike is paved and zig zags the whole way up. It can be pretty intense, especially in the summer time, but once you get to the top, the views are spectacular! The cave is at the top and there are places to sit down along the way as well as a bathroom. The cave is really cool, but is small in some places. Watch your head, because you might need to duck on the journey.

You can hike up to the cave entrance anytime (trail is steep so be careful), and then going into the cave requires a reservation. We went this last time and has reservations but unfortunately couldnt take our daughter all the way through... One of the rangers was extremely nice and offered to take us in a little ways at least, then turn around and go back out with us. Fun experience, and overall youll spend a little over an hour inside the cave if you choose to go that route.

I and many other hikers hike this trail for exercise! Is a wide 1.5 mile up paved trail,1100 feet to cave entrance. Not required to take a cave tour, many hike up and hike down. It has Rangers on the trail and all. Is safe place to hike if a lone hiker. Summer has just begun so my time to hike up is 45 min. Last summer by end of summer my time was down to 35 min to go up. The cave is about 45 degrees inside, besides its beauty, is a great place to cool off.

In weekends the tickets to get into the cave sold out quickly so be prepared. Stuff is friendly an old guy offered fresh water to us while we were on the trail and it was not poisoned jk. At the beginning of it a girl explained we have to admire the pinecones and rock but dont grab anything for other people to admire. That was weird she didnt explained the thickets were sold out and that you actually buy then before starting the trail.

Great path, very nice for a hike straight up a hill. Arrive early!! You can do this hike. If I can get to the top, you can. The cave is not worth the hike if you dont like caves. Very small spaces. Lots of stairs. Take a flashlight! Take lots of water! I had purchased the Federal Parks pass, America the Beautiful pass, knowing I was going, they dont take that pass at that Federal Park. Overall, great views, great History, great hike.

I realize some people have no respect for the great outdoors..... but I hated hearing, repeatedly, "touching a rock is a federal offense" Other than that, the hike is strenuous, but worth it. Going in the early morning beats the heat. No charge to walk the trail but you need tickets to tour the cave. Our ranger was knowledgeable and she really seemed to like questions. Our trip through the cave was unhurried and at our pace.

The hike up the mountain is steep and over an hour long, so I wouldnt recommend taking young children or anyone feeble to this place. There are several places along the trail that provide a great view of the valley, and then the cave itself is pretty great. It has some of the best rock and wall formations Ive seen in caves, so if youre in the area and have half a day I definitely suggest visiting.

The hike to the cave is worth it! In fact, many people come just for the hike -- a strenuous but short 1.5 miles up the mountain. Reserve a ticket for your cave tour ahead of time, and see some amazing alpine cave formations you wont see in larger caves like Mammoth or Carlsbad. This is a treat. And dont miss the hikes and scenery in the rest of the canyon. This is a little hidden gem.

Not a hike if you have a fear of heights! Beautiful none the less, the views are incredible and the cave tour is fantastic, especially with Ranger Katherine as the guide! She has great humor and also very knowledgeable! Be sure to make reservations as the tours are limited in number of bodies, go early in the morning because of the heat and BE SURE TO TAKE A JACKET! #rangerkatherine

"Heart of the mountain" is a beautiful and unique formation. Also look for "cave bacon" and other lovely pools, stalactites, stalagmites, etc. The hike up to the cave is steep, but the trail is paved and there are benches along the way to take a break. Once inside the cave, watch your step and your head; Ive bonked mine a couple of times. We love this place. Well worth the effort.

The hike is about 2 miles, and it can get kinda steep. Also be aware of falling rocks and look out for rattlesnakes! I fortunately encountered neither on my visit. The cave tour at the top is absolutely worth it. Make sure you get your tickets at the visitor center. They dont sell them at the top! And it should go without saying: this place is beautiful. Leave it as you found it!

We had the BEST experience at the Timp Cave. Our tour guide Nancy, was unbelievably engaging and MADE the experience extra special! Well worth the climb. Note: Bring a jacket and water. If youre not accustom to the Utah altitude, give yourself a little time to get up to the cave entrance. The path is paved, but is still steep and HIGH. The views are spectacular! WORTH IT!
