Jones Hall for the Performing Arts Eric Westall Saw Bill Burr, comedian at Jones Hall last week. Jones Hall sucks! First of all, they had one bar tender and then screwed over a boat load of people that stood in line for a long time, by shutting it down and making at least 35 people walk away after the show had already started. Pissed that I made the ill decision to be in that line. My bitching could go on and on, but its not worth typing. AND! the accoustics SUCKED! Just like Jones Hall. My mission to make Jones Hall look like jackasses. Could not understand much of the show because of the acoustics. And I believe the stage was built specifically for acoustics.

I have been to many performances here and have always had a good time. The sound is good and theres not really a bad seat in the house. It could use some renovating. The seats are looking worn and the location of the restrooms are very inconvenient. I recently attended Americas Test Kitchen Live. Prior to the show they had a very entertaining performance by Percussion One. What a talented group! They did a clever percussive based show with a kitchen theme. Americas Test Kitchen was interesting. I wasnt sure what to expect seeing a single person instead of a show, but it was interactive and fun. I look forward to attending more shows this season.

Jones Hall is a great venue for the performing arts, where every seat can hear the performance. As with any venue, there are several seating tiers, but there are really no bad seats. I have watched movies with full live orchestra (Indiana Jones and StarWars movies are great this way), individual performers, and most recently Circus 1903 - a collection of circus performances specifically adapted for the stage. The only negative is that the restrooms are downlevel, requiring the negotiation of a long flight of stairs or waiting on a single elevator.

Fabulous hall, but an even more amazing Orchestra. World class musicians!! I would not recommend sitting in rows U-DD.....its on the floor level but under the first balcony overhang (not great accoustics). Support the classical arts!!! I have attended hundreds of classical and pops concerts here and loved every one of them. My favorite was when the brass where in all the balconies, an antiphonal choir setting, playing Gabrieli with Claus Peter Flor conducting.

Its a small venue. If you plan to eat or snack during the intermission then you need to order ahead or youll never have enough time. The security guards did a terrible job of policing people bringing food into the show room. I spent the second half of the show listening to the women behind me chomp on chips and open their soda bottles and other loud snacks . It was really annoying

We are members and mostly attend Houston Symphony Pops Performances and childrens performances and always enjoy Jones Hall. The theater is large and architecturally stunning. The seating is comfortable, we usually in the orchestra level and have never had a bad view. They now allow drinks in the venue, you can have your drinks waiting for you at intermission.

Here each month for Houston Pops (Symphony) shows. Sound system quality varies from show to show. Getting in out of the stage-end of the lower floor is not easy. I worry about it in case there is a emergency need to exit quickly. Interior could stand a little TLC and style updates. Staff is friendly and the limited food service and bar are generally good.

My wife and I had an incredible time and saw the Houston Philharmonic symphony orchestra live do their rendition to the sweeping film score of Jurassic Park with the film playing behind them. It was phenomenal. A lovely center and gorgeous views with modest pricing on tickets. A must see place and one of a kind experiences.

The Houston Symphony has really opened my eyes and ears to how brutal orchestra can actually be. The virtuosos are simply amazing. If you love music, not a solely one genre. But music at its core, all of what it has done for mankind. You will not regret experiencing what the Houston Symphony has to offer.

Nothing else to say regarding the Houston Symphony but "an absolute thing of beauty" Ignore all the negative comments about seats (they are fine for normal people), stairs (thats why you have a pair of legs anyway, plus there are elevators), acoustics are great (been on every type of seat, no problem).

Comfortable seats. Conductor Andres is always hilarious. Can often hear the older folks snickering about "the good old days" before they added big projector screens inside the hall but they update the experience and dont detract from what the orchestra is trying to do.

The Atmosphere is unique. The lines can be extremely long but they make the most of the space they have. The auditorium is very large and houses many people, just make sure you know where your seats actually are (Upstairs or down) before arriving. Arrive Early!

Houston Symphony and other concerts. They just dont do only classical: rock music, video game music, jazz, pops, movie soundtrack. But you do need to purchase tickets to enter. Go for any one of the concerts.

The orchestra here is one of the best. Theyre very dedicated and offer a good mix of music for a good price. It would be nice if they updated the building though. Its very dated and is starting to show it.

I like all of the different productions that they have here. So many different things which is nice and interesting. It is close to a few other food options so you can grab a bite before a show.

Always a favorite theatre for many decades for magnificent musicals, symphony and Pops, ballet, opera one of the Tops in the world and never disappointed by its stellar standard of quality!

The Houston Symphony is phenomenal. As good, if not better, than any major city symphony in the country. If you can sit close to watch the conductor, it is a real treat- he is magnificent!

The venue is perfect for listening to the Houston Symphony perform. Located in the heart of Downtown Houston, there are plenty of restaurants and parking in the immediate vicinity.

Its a very nice venue. The staff is very friendly and professional. Only gripe would be that they tend to keep it pretty warm in the performance hall.
