Basically a tourist mall with 15 cows walking through it twice a day...several shops decided to close around 4pm "because its not busy enough"...sorry guys, my only chance to visit was on a Tuesday at 3pm. I was in town shooting storyboard images for a movie, and we decided NOT to film in Ft Worth because of the shop owners attitudes and lack of hospitality. Habanero Grill had good tableside guac and a decent margarita, but the "cattle drive" was much smaller than hyped (maybe 15-20 steer?), and I guess they dont really want my business when the shopowners tell me theyre "closing early, so buy something now...its not busy enough to stay open." I wanted a GIANT pair of $600 longhorns, but couldnt carry them around with me for 2hrs to finish the photography to prep for the movie, and the shop owner wasnt interested in holding them for me until 6pm (even though i was willing to pay for them first, and just wanted to finish the photos before picking them up in 2 hours)

Historical district incorporating many of the structures into restaurants and shopping. There are a few museums, the train station is still used as a tourist center, and historical walks are supposed to start here. This is right by where the twice daily cattle drive occurs. There is a maze with observation tower. Parking is easy, and there is a free lot in the Northeast section. The restaurants are varied, there are some music clubs as well. Some of the shops have artisans making goods, and there is more than a fair amount of souvenir shops. Great stop, especially for families.

This is a really unique place to visit. They actually drive like two dozen longhorns down the middle of the street twice a day! That was awesome to see. The carriage ride is nice because they tell you all about the history of the place. The petting zoo had some very friendly and eager to eat slobbery animals. The kids can ride a horse for like ten bucks or something around a ring. We watched barrel racing in the arena. Definitely worth a visit or two! Dont forget to take the train round trip to Grapevine.

Wonderful place to build awesome memories. You just never know what you are going to see, who youre gonna meet, or what might even happen next. The stockyards is full of wonderful restaurants, plenty of motels, and lots of gift shop stores. Great place for the whole family of all ages or simply take a romantic stroll on a horse carriage with that special someone. I am from Fort Worth yet this place never gets old and I still have yet many places to discover. Parking spots could be quite a hustle though.

I visited here during the week, so there was not much occurring. There are a lot of shops to walk around, a lot of good restaurants and activities for children (pony rides, pictures taken on top of a bison, corn maze, cowboys/cowgirls on horses). I stayed to watch the afternoon cattle run, which was not what I expected (I expected a lot of cattle in the run, but here was at least no more than a dozen), but it was still cool to watch since I had never seen a cattle run.

Very neat location to stop and visit or even stay a few days. We visited The Spice and Tea Exchange, Risckys BBQ, as well as several other shops within the Stockyard Station. We even got to see the Longhorn Steer walk down the street at 4pm promptly. Riskys BBQ was fantastic!! The Spice and Tea Exchange was so cool if your into cooking and /or teas. Overall a really quaint downtown area. Wished we could have stayed longer.

Excellent way to spend an afternoon. Outstanding food, gorgeous livestock, wonderful history, fun cowboys in the street, Cowboy Stars line the sidewalks. Fresh country air. So much history in the air, surrounding you everywhere! Next time, we hope to spend the weekend. One afternoon is simply not enough time to enjoy all that the wonderful Stockyards have to offer. Enjoy! Parking $7.00, automated, takes credit card or cash!

A must-see for tourists, and a must-go-back-again for us locals. The Stockyards probably have more character (and, yes, the probably also most "stereotypical") of any area in DFW. The historical, food, shopping, and entertainment factors all create a really unique and positive experience. Make an entire day or weekend of it. This is also a great urban exploration spot for those so inclined, including us photographers!

Just watched the American Rodeo Calf Roping and it looked rigged! Tuf Cooper got a calf not half the size of some really good contestants. Family must have had a lot of pull to get this baby calf in the finals. Not fair to the rest who had some much heavier and larger ones. Should have been more uniform in weight and size for something with this much money on the line. Even in my 70s I could see the difference!!!

Good cowboy fun is the best way to describe time at the stockyards. I highly recommend if youre visiting (or youve lived here a while & looking for something different) and want that glimpse of the cowboy life. Try the maze, visit the stockyards museum, go on the train and definitely grab some fine meat at Risckys. Parking is available but theres traffic, I recommend parking in one of the spots before the entrance.

This area is nice to bring family to see the Longhorn cattle drive. Most of the prices are in the tourist trap range. However there is a lot of shops that offer military discounts to veterans which are the shops patronize because they honor the less than 1%. There are lots of great places to eat and Billy Bobs is just around the corner. Where we saw Clint Black and (surprise) Tanya Tucker on the same main stage.
