Google Maps had misidentified the location of Pioneer Plaza, mixing it up with Pegasus Plaza. Pioneer Plaza is a popular tourist destination located at the southeast corner of Young and Griffin (1070 Young St.) adjacent to Dallas Convention Center on the south side of downtown. It commemorates Dallas’ beginnings by celebrating the trails that brought settlers to Dallas. The series of bronze statues depict a classic cattle drive of longhorn steers crossing a flowing stream. Pegasus Plaza is a public park located at the southeast corner of Ervay & Main (1518 Main St.) in the heart of downtown Dallas. The plaza takes its name from Pegasus, the iconic sign placed in 1932 atop the adjacent Magnolia Oil Building--now the Magnolia Hotel (1401 Commerce St.). The mythical flying horse was the corporate symbol of Dallas Magnolia Oil Co., later Mobil Oil Co., now Exxon-Mobil. Over the years the flying red horse came to be adopted as the citys unofficial logo. The shaded plaza includes several fountains and is used for concerts, festivals, and Christmas celebrations.

I always take out-of-town visitors to Pioneer Plaza, or as we like to call it: "the cow sculptures over by the Omni." Its always a hit. Check out the details on the cowboy sculptures and if you get a chance, theres a map of the various cattle trails on the ground at the intersection. You can see a map of Texas and Oklahoma with the cattle trails of the 1800s along with the rivers. Those were the highways before we had I-35 and I-45.

Puede ser de Dallas ciudad una de las partes más originales. La enorme escultura de bronce es bastante espectacular. Sin duda alguna algo "imperdible". Esta muy cerca del convection center.

Interesting place that I didnt even know existed after living here for 4 years. The cemetery is well kept, but no one really notable is here that is day is worth making a special trip for. The cattle and cowboys statutes are pretty cool though, done in great detail and pretty extensive. If you are in the area of check it out, but wouldnt go out of my way to see it to be honest.

Nice area to drop by and check out. The statues are life like and you really get a sense of how the early pioneers fared. You almost feel back in that time. It was also fun to check out the grave sites and some have placards with an explanation of the contribution that person provided. Is this a must see? Probably not but its free and worth a look if you are nearby.

Un endroit sympa. Une belle scénographie. c est tres realiste quand on a vu les longhorns qui se balladent dans la ville de Forthworth. De belles photos souvenirs!

Must see sculptures in downtown Dallas which commemorates nineteenth century cattle drives that took place along the Shawnee Trail, the earliest and easternmost route by which Texas longhorn cattle were taken north. There are 49 bronze steers and 3 trail riders sculptures which were created by artist Robert Summers of Glen Rose, Texas.

I took my hubby to brunch at Yolk to kick off his b-day weekend, we recieved excellent, friendly and fast service. We arrived around 1pm on a Saturday and enjoyed the pancake of the month which was ham, pinapple and toasted coconut and other unique dishes. We will eat here again as the menu has much variety.

THE Dallas statue that you think of. This series of statue does a great job of documenting the look of a cattle drive crossing a stream. Its big enough that theres always a section that is free of the tourists climbing on the animals or taking awkward selfies.

Dedication to Craft and Art. This massive sculpture relays times of Dallas past. If you get the right angle, it looks like the Longhorns are headed right into downtown. Great place for children, and adults. Photographers dream. Free parking and easy to find.

A nice place to relax and enjoy the view. The bronze sculptures are nice and the area is well maintained. Many people visit so it can get crowded some times and parking is an issue. They is a cemetery towards the back of some of Dallass "Pioneers".

Uma praça pequena, mas com lindas esculturas do gado típico do Texas. Vale a visita para algumas fotos.

La obra es impresionante pero por la erosión del suelo ya se ven las cañerías. Deberían cuidarlo algo más.

Bring all your out of town (& recluse) friends and family here. Its quite a feeling walking around these statues. The horses, cowboys and cattle are intriguing. Each one has its individuality in the landscape. Everyone has been impressed!

When I received friends and family over, the Pioneer Plaza is one of the main landmarks for my tourists. The story I tell, along the magnificence of their sculptures, makes an unforgetable place. I looove Dallas!

You can park free for an hour otherwise its meter parking. All the statues are really cool. Unfortunately the plaque that talks about Pioneer Plaza is so weathered down you cant read it any more.

Saw the plaza from our hotel room & walked to check it out. Pretty neat bit of history, & a nice quiet park away from all the hustle & bustle of the city.

The best outside monument in Dallas, only one place we wanted to visit in the city. The longhorns are all made in full size and very realistic.
