This is an iconic Austin live music venue, where some very famous local musicians, mostly jazz, blues or rock, have played throughout the years. Located smack dab in the middle of the South Congress strip, The Continental Club attracts more of the 30-50 year old crowd than the early twenty somethings (perhaps due to the $10 cover). Service at the bar is fast and attentive; no frilly drinks or crazy infusions here. Just local beer and Jack n cokes here. If youd like a seat for the show, Id recommend arriving 20-30 minutes early, as the place can get packed depending on the night. They do have a small dance floor as well, if youd like to take a date out for a night of live music and dancing.

The Continental Club is an Austin destination for great music of every genre. The downstairs can fit larger acts and more people, but my favorite is the upstairs and Ill get into that below. They dont have a crazy drink menu which is great as the drinks remain well priced for such a classic Austin joint. Best show: Tameca Jones every Thursday night and its totally worth a late work night. Tameca play in the tiny romantic Continental Club gallery (upstairs) and shes perfect for the room. Ms. Jones should be coined Austins Beyonce with her amazing voice and crazy energy that she brings the room. I highly recommend this for a date night.

we came through from some time we spent in San Antonio, and wanted to hear a band that a friend of ours recommended, so we headed to the Continental Club for our first visit. Not knowing what to expect, we were a little on edge. Walking up the street to the venue, the old school signage and vibe was already looking good. Then we went inside, and it was glorious! A true dive bar, but just dripping with music history (for instance, Stevie Ray Vaughan had his album launch party at The Continental Club?? On that same stage??). We heard the band and it was great. The bar staff were great, too. Highly recommended.

Never really know what youll find ... unless theres a band youre following or have heard of and theyre playing one night but, half and maybe even more than, is going to The Continental Club and you have no idea about the performers any particular night ... thats the magic of this historical, Austin landmark ... youll find an amazing band playing and if it hadnt been for that night, your life would still be the same! Can you even imagine it ... well try to ... and head to The Continental Club ... they have the bead on new talent, pure talent and a good grip on known talents ... stop by and hear for yourself!

That is what I want to know. I LOVE Toni Price, Tuesdays Hippie Hour. Anytime I have out of town company I get all excited and take them there BUT what is a bummer, is how unprofessional and rude the people that work there! Starts with the doorman and goes all the way to bartenders and wait staff, they act like they are doing you this HUGE favor letting you in and beneath them to serve you...it is soooo embarrassing! Supposedly 10 mil people are unemployed and they get to act like that? Seriously, what up?

Let me say first that the music was amazing. But thats not enough to ever get me back there. It was filthy in the main area, and the restrooms were disgusting beyond description. The overall feel was run-down and dive bar, with none of the charm that dive bars can sometimes muster. Austin, you can and should be doing SOOOOO much better for your music venues. Rustic is one thing...gross is another all together. Get some cleaning crews with Lysol in there, and I might give it a second chance

On March 18, 2017 @ 12:20 a.m. the heavy set older blonde waitress removed my family and I from the bar immediately after taking a photo of us, in which I felt was very strange. I felt that was incredibly rude after we spent nearly $200.00 between the four of us. Also we requested shots, she did not have the necessary ingredients to make the cocktail and never once offered us any other recommendations.

Whether youre looking for rock-a-billy, singer-songwriter music or some good old Texas swing, The Continental is the place to be and be seen. An iconic foothold in the Austin music scene, I love going to Continental during the Custom Car Show, when the ladies are in their retro best and the music is hot. People watching from the front sidewalk is awesome. Bartenders are swift, and pour heavy.

The Continental Club is one of Austins classic live music venues. Im actually a major fan of the small Continental Club attic which provides a cozy small atmosphere with displaying top local acts. The drinks are decently priced and the entry is usually free. Insiders tip: Go on a Thursday when Tamika Jones is there. Shes Austins Beyonce with more spunk and jazz.

I enjoy attending shows at the CC; however, I had a negative experience with a bartender once who was extremely rude to me and was more interested in drinking shots with a young tattooed woman seated next to me at the bar. Thankfully, that seemed to be an isolated incident because Ive had good service for most every visit Ive made since then.

Places like this are what make Austin what it is famous for. Fantastic small venue that creates the intimacy that turns an evening into an affair. The upstairs gallery is perfect for wrapping up the evening with a nightcap. Take someone you want to share the night with, cause this is the kind of place where things end up happening.

The Continental Club is fantastic. I went to go see Ben Kwellers show with openers Whiskey Sisters and Dan Goebel. It was a fantastic show and such a cool venue. The bouncers are really strict, but with good reason, theyre doing their jobs with great pride. The shows are always fantastic, and everyones always having a good time.

Location is choice, but I probably wouldnt hang-out if some bands I really knew about and liked were not playing here. It can get a little cramped and its fairly small to begin with. The plus is the staff stays pretty positive, friendly, and eager to appease the guests. The drinks here are indeed very good, too!

I have been coming here for ages and it continues to not dissapoint! This place is a must see for austinites and tourists alike. you can catch some of the best "true" austin music around with their weekly acts (toni price, etc). The drinks are reasonably priced. Its small so not a bad seat in the house.

An Austin staple bar. Someone once told me this bar was the first place to get a license to have live music on S Congress? Not sure if its true or not, but the place is great and one of those places you really have to stop in and check out. Good drink prices and great music most of the time.

Fantastic place to see music in a small venue, just be prepared to wait for drinks & get mashed while watching the show. There is probably going to be the obligatory drunk, pretentious ass that thinks that sitting is a good idea during a packed show& hates you for blocking his view ...

You want bluesy music at a dive bar? This is the place to come (especially now that TCs Lounge is under new ownership). No matter what night you go, you can always hear a great band, get cheap beer, and feel completely relaxed. Beware, though: Their pool table is a bit dilapidated.
