Ate here today at 4 (Sunday afternoon). I dont usually write reviews but this was such a negative experience I felt other customers should know. I ordered a Cobb salad. I asked for chicken to be added but they were out of it but offered me chicken salad or pulled pork as an option. If you have ever had a Cobb salad you know it is liaded with egg (but not this one, loads of vegetables (again not this one) and cooked crumbled bacon and cheese. No cheese and the bacon was more like under cooked fat from bacon. My husband ordered a beer ( they were out of that particular beer). He ordered a Cuban sandwich. This was tasteless tough pulled pork, a piece of cheese and a pickle smashed between what appeared to be a hamburger bun that he could not peel off the soggy sandwich. Our first clue should have been the place was void of customers. I cant help but think the previous reviews were paid or false all together!! It is not a cozy atmosphere at all! Hard chairs and furniture that came out of an old school room. The icing on the cake is no paper towels in the one unisex bathroom. Avoid this place!!!!!

Down the Alley Bistro is the greatest kept secret in Georgetown. The food is fanstastic and the atmosphere is quant and cozy. We use it as a venue for luncheons and special dinners for work throughout the year, and everyone always has a great time and enjoys the food. I take all my friends and family from out of town here for lunch when they come to visit. I cant say enough about my love for this restaurant. The owner, Ralph, is friendly and always getting involoved with the community. On top of all he does, he manages to be a great cook! I also recomment coming in for a cup of coffee. I promise, you will be switching from your daily Starbucks to some REAL FRESH coffee. Come in and see for yourself!

Ive been to Roots a few times. Can be fun when there is some good live music, but the food and customer service are terrible. Ordered an 8in pizza and received a tiny 4 1/2 in pizza. I complained that it was half the size of what I ordered, and the waitress did nothing to fix it. She said "Im new, pizzas shrink so it was 8in before they put it in the oven". Overpriced and undercooked pizza that even my 3 year old wasnt impressed with. Nothing special about this place other than the unique building and downtown Georgetown location. There is a much better pizza spot on the square, I personally would avoid this one unless you want to see live music.

Ive been going to Down the Alley Bistro for about 5 years now. Ive always enjoyed the Paninis, the atmosphere and the service. There has been a change in ownership and it has unfortunately affected all of the above. The service was just ok. We ordered two sandwiches and waited 25 minutes for them. They were good but not great as I expected. And to top off my disapointment, the atmosphere is not quite as nice as it had been. In part because of the staff and in part because there was music that was not loud enough to be enjoyed but loud enough that it was annoying and couldnt be ignored. I miss Down the Alley Bistro the way it had been.

I had the California tacos. Said it had french fries on it. It didnt. The beef was not very flavorful and the flour tortillas were cold. Another person in my party had a chix club. Lots of bread, the chicken was flavorless (how about a little salt and pepper?) And one of the pieces was so rubbery it couldnt be chewed. Crisp lettuce? Nope. It was soft spinach. On a positive note, the pizzas were pretty good, although the crust was a little over cooked. We had the Baja, the Texan and the Veggie. I probably wont be back for the food.

Friendly staff that became overwhelmed with the amount of customers. All orders must go through the bar and the line can get very long. Staff delivering food are lost trying to find you. Why? Because you order at the bar, go sit in a sea of people. Seems very chaotic when it comes to food. Live entertainment was nice. Be prepared for it to get hot inside. Recommend stick to drinking, buy two and have patience.

Georgetown is adding more casual and funky dining options. Roots Bistro is right on the square, so it is convenient and reasonable and a great place to grab a sandwich, salad or personal pizza. There is live music on weekends and a good selection of beers. The interior is rustic and comfortable. You could sit and talk, sip a beer and lose track of time.

Found Roots online and must say the reviews are way off base. Ordered a pizza and was told out of cheese. ? Settled on the Reuben. First beer of choice sold out. One of half dozen people in place and bartender/server more interested in couple on other side of bar than the other people in business. Finished drink , took food to go. Will not return.

Nice homey bar/food joint. Friendly staff. Live music Thursday thru Saturday. Kareoke Tuesday. Open mic Wednesday. Nice beer selection - around 16 on draft that rotate regularly. Had a reuben that was very good. It wasnt huge, regular size rye bread. Good tasting sour kraut. Side of tomato basil bisque was tasty, too.

Super friendly staff, good selection of craft brews and great pizza! We had The Kitchen Sink, delicious & plenty big enough for two adults. Why wait an hour and a half at 600 Degrees to sit down when these folks have just as good of a pie and WAY less wait, GOOD ALL AROUND!

Very nicely decorated. Employees are friendly and welcoming. Menu is concise and fairly priced, the panini I had was good, but a bit bland. Very nice front stage for live music and balcony overlooking the bistro. Will definitely return!

A very good eatery in an old time Texas two-story wooden hall. Delicious black bean and jalapeño sausage soup, great panini, and a smell that promises delicious pizza. A nice place to get on Wi-Fi and soak in the ambience.

Great staff, great beer selection, and a lovely little spot. It was nice and quiet and romantic on a Sunday night. The interior is very cozy and the second floor is wonderful for sipping a beer with a partner.

Cool, funky beer/wine bar and bistro on the square. Very good pizza, sandwiches and salads. My kids and I like to drop by on the weekend and play a card game while waiting for our order.

Food was very yummy even tho they forgot the pepperoni on my pizza. Food took a bit longer than I wouldve expected for a slow night but they only had 2 people working. Great atmosphere
