Way over priced for such a small place. We waited around 20 mins for the video before the guided tour to start. The video was around 10 minutes long and it was the worst. Plus, it started playing again for another 5 minutes before someone ran in and turned it off..while turning the video off she promised the performer would be out shortly. We waited another 10 minutes. At that point, the area was crowded and so hot...i was ready to leave, but I was trying to stick it out. We finally went back to see the exhibit and I was so done with being there after that, that I did not stay for the performance. The performer directed us to go see the wax museum upstairs before we left, so we went up and knocked and waited for 5 minutes, but there was never an answer, so we left. Not at all worth the money. Major waste of time. It would probably be cooler if they had things running more smoothly.

The price wasnt terrible, but I was expecting much more out of this "museum". Myself and 7 others received a mini live performance from one of the employees Sal, who was interesting, but seemed to be trying too hard to be mysterious. He took a stab at some very beginner David Blaine type magic and then made several references to his tip jar. Majority of the museum in fit into a small hallway and if there is more than 4 people, it is extremely crowded. There are a few very interesting pieces in the museum, otherwise it seemed much more of a side show than a museum. This is something to do, but shouldnt be anywhere near the top of your priority list of things to see in Austin.

If you are a fan of the styles of Captain Spaulding, Rob Zombie, House of 1000 corpses, retro horror films, Bela Lugosi, Johnny Depp, Gibby Haynes, Slash, George A. Ramero, creature movie FX, unsolved mysteries, weird oddities, and fun novelties then you will enjoy this place as much as I did. The mini museum tour is reasonably priced if youre not on a tight budget; for me it was worth every penny. I felt like Chris Hardwick on the Captain Spaulding tour! And cool enough, the performer and guide I got to see at the end was named Captain Eric Burton. He was very entertaining and made the best ending of the tour.

Absolutely amazing! Staff was nice, and make the experience fun and interactive. For parents whom have kids under the age of 5, I do not recommend. This is not for the faint of heart, as I yelped twice during the mini tour. For parents traveling to experience the weirdest things in Austin, THIS is the place to be. Make sure to bring money as the gift shop is as cool as the museum itself. But overall, I would definitely consider this a family friendly place, considering they could handle my party of 6. With an excellent experience, I would definitely recommend this tourist destination.

I give it two stars simply because your staff is incredibly friendly. I see so many 5 stars and I just cant fathom why. I had a group of four and was so disappointed that I spent nearly $50. The exhibits were certainly weird but most were fake. The iceman seemed fake as well, from what could be made out from the spotty ice. The performer seemed to be miserable. The coolest part was the supposedly Johnny Depp used to rent the top apartment, which I havent yet fact checked. I guess you need to be a believer in these legends to find most of the museum interesting.

Incredible experience. First you go on a self guided tour through the collection of oddities! From skeletons to mermaids and shrunken heads it gets pretty freaky. After you go on a tour through a wax museum which was pretty cool as well. What sealed the deal for me was the psychic act at the end. It was absoluletly astonishing. The man who guided the tour was also very friendly and personable. If your looking for a thrill while in Austin Texas you should definatly stop by the museum of the weird!!!!!!

Like other reviews have said this museum is a small winding hallway with half real, half fake stuff. The staff is extremely helpful and the location of the museum is great! The reason for the 5 star review is the included side show act at the end. It was one of the neatest things I have ever seen! The performer was very informative and knowledgeable. Granted its a bit of a tourist trap, but you cant miss out on this cheesy, sideshow venue! Plus Johnny Depp used to live there (above the museum)

Holy hoax, Batman! I am all about the weird & entertaining, but DONT waste your money here. Its not worth it. + staff is wildly friendly + interesting gift shop with insect Kelsey & bottled animal anomalies - the museum is the size of a bathroom; literally one room with about 15 "weird" objects - all fake artifacts including haunted skeleton, 3-headed stuffed goat & a mermaid man - side show, while entertaining, is a fake - overpriced for seeing basically nothing

Its small- not really a "museum." More like a display of oddities. The gift shop is cool. As for the "iceman," it is a hoax. You cant even be sure that what they have on display is the original "Minnesota Iceman." But they build it up enough, and its a cool enough story delivered by a friendly docent that this place is definitely worth a 30 minute visit before hitting up a nearby restaurant.

The actual "tour" was really just one room with a handful of weird things. Most of which werent real. The performer wasnt working because it was so cold, so maybe it wouldve been better. Over all, it was definitely over priced and not really worth it. Save your money for Ripleys Belive It or Not. The shop was kinda cool though, and the employee working was awesome to chat with!

This was an amazing experience! You will definitely get the weird you want but an amazing story as well. The lady at the desk was super sweet and answered our thousand questions. Mr. Black Scorpion was super rad! Awesome story, acting, everything!!! Especially love his punny humor and drive for doing what he loves. Plus he had awesome posters and buttons!!!

What a great place to stop in when you are in Austin! Well worth it! There are so many cool things on the walls. Take your time and look at each little thing. There is so much to see! The show was very entertaining! I can not tell you the secrets but they are incredible! Thank you Ravencraft for the history behind the exhibits. It made it even better.

I decided to check out the Museum if the Weird while staying in Austin and let me say, it puts the weird in the city! Ripleys Believe it or Not Museum has nothing on this place!! The Black Scorpions show was great and all for a wonderful cause! If you are visiting Austin I dare you to give it a shot, you just might enjoy yourself! :)

It was really small, or else it would get more stars. I really really enjoyed it and the "live show". I hope someday they find more people willing to volunteer for it, not because we should bring back freak shows, but because if everyone who volunteers is as charismatic and fun as this one guy, then itll only be 100x better.

Totally not worth your time or money!!! Way over priced for such a small "museum". Most of the stuff looked fake. The show in the back was a waste of time and not entertaining at all. The wax "museum" upstairs was the size of a closet. A very small closet. Just dont waste your time and especially not your money!
