I just got home from taking my entire family through both the House of Torment and Mansion of Terror and yes, we walked through both houses at each. House of Torment was amazing in every aspect. If you though Mansion of Terror was better than I question your motives because you obviously havent visited both. Mansion of Terror was cool but it didnt event almost compare. House of Torment was very scary but that wasnt the most impressive thing (Mansion of Terror was also scary), the sets stole the show. We were ignoring the actors because the sets were so elaborate. I can’t imagine how they could afford to construct sets on that level. Honestly, the haunted house at 6 flags pales in comparison. The House of Torment is absolutely amazing. First haunted house I have been through where I feel I got my moneys worth. Hopefully they get their moneys worth, the place is literally like something right out of a horror flick.

Im giving it one star because of their greed. Last year they had one VIP line, where for an extra $10 you could jump in line ahead of every one else. I never figured that they would ALL get to go ahead of General Admission so even though we were nearly at the front we stood there for an hour before we got in. It seemed that only as the GA line piled up and people started getting vocal that the line was finally allowed to move. This year they have an extra $45 instant access, on top of the $35 VIP and $25 General Admission. My friend from work went, paid the $35 VIP and still stood in line for an hour. When he got out he and his wife were afraid that there was going to be a riot the GA line was so angry. No thanks HoT, if you want the extra money, just charge $35 and treat everyone fairly. I went even before it was at Highland mall and enjoyed it. I wont be going back again.

House of Torment is the best haunted attraction in Texas HANDS DOWN! All three haunts have been changed and are scarier than last year. The haunts have world class artists and it shows; ALL monsters are very high detail and have elaborate costumes...YOU WILL SEE NO CHEAP PAINTED FACES...like in cutting edge, haunt house, nightmare on the bayou, etc. The sets are amazing and bigger and better than last years show. Come on people, torment was featured in fangoria, haunt world, travel channel, etc. THIS IS THE WAY TO GO GUYS!!!!! 1. House of Torment 2. 13th floor 3.Thrillvainia 4.Nightmare on the Bayou 5.Phobia 6.Cutting Edge 7.Terror Nights 8.Creepy Hallow 9.Strangling Bros. Haunted Circus 10.Haunt House Scare Factor: 10 Skulls Monsters/Actors: 9.8 Skulls Originality: 9.8 Skulls Sets, Detail, Theming: 10 Skulls Special FX: 9.8 Skulls 49.47 out of 50 Skull Rating

" I didnt like it at all and the main reason is I got hit on my nose 2 weeks after its still hurting. Actually going to see my Dr this week and if its something serious Im gonna take legal action..One of the people on the last house was trying to scare us with a baseball bat and he hit me and when I told him he just hit me he started laughing thinking its a joke he didnt apologize or anything even people who were behind us told him he need to apologized but he didnt he was just too lucky I held my composure. And the houses were crowded so you could see whats coming. I know yall trying to make as much money but you should also think of the client if they gonna have a good time or even have a good experience.. I think yall should let people go in one at a time so people can really experience the fun of been in a haunted house..

Four of my friends and I went to both the House of Torment and Illusion Manor last night. The only complaint I have is that they dont allow for enough space between customers in the House of Torment. Through almost half of it, the pace was fine, I screamed my head off. But then we started getting close to the group in front of us, which killed any suspense because we could hear them screaming and see the lighting effects and actors jumping out at them. We tried to slow our pace to let that group get ahead some, but then the group behind us caught up. So there was a group in front ruining the surprises and a group behind bumping into us. I would just suggest that, if its busy the night you go, ask to wait a bit longer before they shuffle you in behind the previous group. The pacing of Illusion Manor was fine though.

I heard this place was one of the best Texas has to offer. As a major fan of Halloween, and just moving here from Pa, I was going off reviews. Maybe this night was an off night, being it is a week before Halloween. I do feel as if the scares are good.. but youre cattled through the different attractions. Youre lucky if you get more than one jump scare per attraction. There is no time for actors to replace themselves before the next group comes through. I will admit, in the last attraction (Manor something), was much better compared to the first two. I liked the tallll clown that did hold people back to separate the backed up lines, God Bless him!! Thats what should be done more... or yaknow, stop shovingg 10 people in five seconds after sending in a group of 10......

Amazing! Ive been going to haunted houses since I was in first grade, Ive been to haunted houses all over the US and even a few in Germany. They dont even come close to the quality show the House of Torment puts on. The costumes inside and outside are impressive, innovative and original. The sets/scenes are mind blowing. The actors have been bringing new styles and characters to Austin since their doors opened. Going through you DO NOT get scared from behind some railing with some kid popping out from behind a door wearing a store bought mask. They are in your face flying across the ceiling, jumping from second stories, sliding on the ground etc...They take this serious. I remember thinking I was going to be spoiled now that I had experienced the House of Torment.

This was my first haunted house experience and I had a blast. Waiting in line to enter the house was already fun, as monsters roamed the lines. Some of the monsters say pretty ridiculous things that would make a little girl cry. Since it was outside and well lit, the monsters didnt scare me. But right when I entered the first house, thats when the real scare began. The first house was definitely the scariest. With tons of props, sudden movements, and creatures lurking in the dark, I thoroughly enjoyed the first house. My body was tense throughout the whole experience but it was worth it. The second and third houses arent as scary, but they have their moments. The chainsaws get me every time. House of Torment was an awesome experience and Ill definitely come back.

So Ive gone the last two years. Last year it was a lot of fun, and I had a great time, but this year it was nightmare (and not in a good way). For starters it was the exact same thing as last year so I wasnt surprised by anything, but that wasnt the worst part. They did an awful job of running it this year. We went in as a group of four and became a group of twelve when we ran into the group in front of us in the second room. Bad spacing ruins the entire experience. The actors were all dressed really well, but there isnt anything scary about seeing an actor try to go back and hide because they already jumped out and scared the four people in front of you. The spacing sucked, so the experience sucked. It would have been great otherwise...
