To say that this DJ was unprofessional would be a sore understatement. Truly the only glitch in the wedding I attended and was a part of was this DJ. Where to begin? First off, he called the groom and the couple the wrong name five times (including introducing them for the first time with the groom’s brother’s name). Furthermore, in his seven page long speech, the DJ called out an ex of the groom and put her on the spot, even making her explain why she broke up with him. The speech was confusing and all over the place. Some parts were taken word for word from the bride and groom (although they were promised he would make it more concise), but there were also very inappropriate additions (like details about the bride’s first kiss which were totally made up and were relayed in very poor taste). At one point the DJ forgot where he was in reading the speech and had to start from a random section of the story, which, of course, made the entire rest of the story incomprehensible. The bride and groom gave very particular instructions about one song (only the chorus) which should have been manageable and understood, but were blatantly not followed. The DJ then forgot to introduce the best man’s speech, which made him look like he had been forgotten (which he was, but only by the DJ who didn’t bother to look at the schedule made for him). Ask other attendants of the party and I’m sure they would gladly add on with their own complaints. I would strongly suggest looking at other DJs for formal events in the area.

What can I say in this review that will convince you in less than 261 words? Keep reading; first I’d like to tell you we hired Jim and The Music Guys all the way back in 2008 (yeah before they were THIS cool). Remember back then? My wife and I sure do, in fact, when we watched the video we had made of the reception it brought tears to our eyes as we laughed right along with the jokes and we even danced to our song again. So are you convinced? No? How about the plethora of music and knowledge that he doled out through the night? Starting with some light improv-jazz during cocktails, to the entrance music, which he just that day got a copy of, to the introductions for the wedding party. We then moved to the wonderful way he recited our stories (with some added comedic flourish). Even when we thought he’d missed a guest whom wanted a toast, it turns out he had something truly special in mind, he even made Gramms blush, no small feat mind you. This was followed by a dance party the likes of which cannot be seen, until Jim does his next one. Mixing up old and new songs alike, crowd favorites, ones we had our hearts set on, even managing to correctly understand a breathless and tipsy brides maid request for “that one song, by that one guy, you know the hot one…” If you weren’t having the time of your life, it’s because you weren’t living. I know I promised 261 words, but we’re past that now, so I’ll wrap it up. If you want the best reception money can buy, you hire The Music Guys.

We used The Music Guys back in 2011 and have been recommending them since! From the beginning, Jim was thorough in his communication and made it very clear that we were his priority and that he wanted to make sure our DJ experience was completely personalized. He wanted to make sure that our guests knew all of the details about our love story and made his presentation of our love story extremely entertaining. He kept us laughing the entire time. We had a lot of elderly people at our wedding, but Jims music selection and personality even had them out on the dance floor. It was one of the greatest nights of our life! Here we are six and a half years later and Jim still checks in with us on Facebook and follows our life with our now two children. We had a blast and I would not only recommend him to others, but would certainly use him again in the future!!

The Music Guys were great!! From the day we first contacted them to the day of our wedding, we got nothing but quality service, respect, and timely responses. Jim and his staff were very flexible in working with our ideas and needs. They helped to make our rainy wedding day turn into to a blast! It was perfect and everything we could have imagined and more. They read our crowd well and played music for all ages and tastes. We thoroughly enjoyed our reception and from the pictures and videos that we have seen thus far, everyone at our reception had a great time as well. The sore legs, dirty dresses/pants, and tired feet were well worth it because we had the time of our life at our reception. Thank you Music Guys!!

These guys did my wedding and it was a TOTAL blast!!! Jim did an amazing job and everything went smoothly. Ive never met such a great guy who is so willing and genuinely interested in working with you to make your wedding day a breeze! He was always quick with communication during the planning process and made our reception just the after party we had imagined. Our guests LOVED the fact that he did more than just play music, he was very involved in reading our love story out to the guests and even giving our guests an opportunity to request songs before the wedding. My husband and I used The Music Guys for our wedding almost 2 yrs ago & they were amazing! We were getting married in Alabama and had to plan the wedding from Virginia. Jim was super flexible with meeting us and always had open communication. He got to know so much about us & brought the party to our wedding. Jim with The Music Guys exceeded our expectations when it came to DJing our 2008 wedding. Our wedding was a hit only because Jim was the LIFE of the party! We didnt have any set songs we requested to hear (other than our "first dance" song) so he played all sorts of music that kept our guests entertained all evening long! All anyone could talk about after our wedding was how much fun they had...folks still talk about it to this day!
